Of all the people who could have posted a Xenosaga deal, I'm glad it was you.

Nope Namco always wanted this DVD to be a promo item for the fans who pre-order it.

So do we get it when we put the $5 down or do we wait until it arrives at the store?

I'm not sure but I think the DVD should ship one week before the game release but thats my guess.

Looks like I'm gonna have to preorder ... guess that's Namco's way of making me pay full price, rather than waiting it out.

Provided you recieve the DVD when you reserve it, you can pre-order at GS, wait until the game releases, then ask for your credit back. Then watch the 10,000 hours worth of cutscenes until a pricedrop occurs.

Thanks for the tip! Definitely going to try this out. There's no way I'm ever going to remember the storyline from Episode I without the DVD.

I have to admit....I've put $5 on a preorder just to get the bonus, then have switched that $5 over to another preorder to get another bonus. Then I eventually used it on a game cause I felt bad.
But, that's what I'm doing with this one, cause I don't really want Xeno 2 yet, but I do want that DVD.

For the record, the DVD only has 4-5 hours of cutscenes on it, as opposed to the 7 in Xenosaga itself.
I think they cut out some useless crap to do that, since the disc is mainly to catch up on story since Xenosaga doesn't have a function to re-watch cutscenes (I'm hoping Episode 2 does, but they might not do it to try to get us to pre-order Episode 3.)

First of all, here's the deal on the disk. It has the deleted scenes that were edited out of the original American Version of Xenosaga.
Also, if you preorder from them, do they take the $50 out of your bank account right away, or only take like $5 as a down payment and the rest when they ship? Or do they just take it all when they ship it?

4 hours of cutscenes are on the bonus disc. If it has deleted scenes as well, I don't see it mentioned.

I might just go with that deal since it's pretty awesome. But at the same time, I kind of want to wait for Outpost to inevitably have the game for like $40 w/ free ground shipping...
Ah well, might as well just preorder it and cancel if something else comes up.

I'm thinking of the samething. If ebgames has the DVD available to pick up I'll put five dollars down and get the game at outpost.

You could be wrong because the Soul Calibur II bonus disc is package inside the game.

I could be but I read it on namco website that this item is only available for fans who pre-order it.
Well the SCII bonus disc is also a pre-order bonus, and that's comes with the game. Guess we will have to wait to see if the bonus comes with the game or the bonus will be given out early.

Gotta call my local stores tomorrow to see if they have any in. That will be a great time killer until the game actually comes out.

Probably not the only place that is running this promo are ebgames and gamestop. Well that what it says on the website.

Outpost has the DVD bonus too... but that package costs $50 =(
Without DVD preorder is $40....
Isn't it supposed to be a 'free' item?

Just pre-order it at ebgames for $5 and get the game for $39.99 at outpost. Than you can switch the $5 to a different preorder or use it to get a different game.

Question: Can I switch the $5 preorder immediately, or do I have to wait for the game's release date?
I mean, I want to go in, slap a $5 on the desk and say, "GIMME DVD PLZ KTHNX." Then once I have the DVD in my pocket, I can just say, "NVM! WANT THIS GAME OVER HERE KTHNXBAI." ... and have them give me a five dollar credit on that purchase instead?

YMMV  I don't really know, it depend on the clerk that work there. They might even give it to you for free if you ask nicely. But I would at least wait a day or two if you try the $5 route switch.

See, my local Gamestop is not so local. I have to travel about 45 miles to get there. And BB, CC ... pretty much anything besides Hastings & Wal-Mart is a huge trip, so I have to make big groupings of purchases.
Thanks for the input though, I will give it a shot this afternoon.

This is a tempting offer, but I'm wondering if, realistically, I'm going to be able to actually sit through 4 hours of cutscenes.

Oh don't worry about that the dvd disc have scene selection and chapters so you can take breaks and do whatever you do.

I highly doubt it has the unedited scenes, since the edits were changed in the Reloaded JP disc too. One was changed to be less suggestive (although still very effective), and another was changed to actually be more creepy.

Friday I also pre-ordered Xenosaga II at my local GameStop. Got the DVD right away. Maybe if I dig up my RE4 pre-rder reciept (I wasn't in the system...) I can have $10 credit!

If you try to reserve at Fry's you have to put down $10 for the bonus disc but you get it at reservation time which I'm going to assume means you don't have to pick up the game but I could be wrong. It's basically 3 hours of cutscenes from the last game so it's either I watch it all or actually play the game. Dunno.

Free one day shipping is back if anyone is intrested.
the bonus dvd was edited down and all but they didn't a spectacular job. some scene changes are really abrupt and if you haven't played the first game, you'll miss some of the back story and some of the scene changes will be VERY incoherent.
an example is that in the dvd, they never show the scene where you first meet Chaos and the other 3 goonz on his ship. you just see his ship pull up (but have no clue who's inside unless you've played the game) and then it cuts to the momo and ziggy scene. when it gets back to shion, she's already in the ship and goes up to the deck and talks with Chaos and the crew like they already know each other.
