I just got back from Vegas, and had an idea. Wouldn't it be cool to be able to bet on video games? Have two people going head to head, and then betting on them! I think it would!

my friends and I used to fire up the wrestlemania 2000 on the n64 and let the computer do the matches and wager a buck or 2 on the outcome

Why, so everyone playing the table games, slot machines and betting the sports book could laugh at you?
That would be rather lame. Videogame players are not atheletes, no matter what the pro gamer leagues try to say.

I want a video game book where you can bet on events, like how they set it up in England.
Example:
Half Life 2 released in 2004: 3-2
Doom 3 released in 2004: 5-1
Duke Nukem Forever released in 2004: 10,000-1
Xbox 2 comes with hard drive: even money

it's not a sport if you can smoke, drink a beer and eat some pizza while participating. this includes bowling.

If you smoke, drink, or eat a pizza while playing Counter-Strike I will wipe the floor with your ass.
1:1 odds, 10 cents, lets go.

I guess golf, baseball, and rugby are out too.

definitely. to be a real athelete, you have to be in tip-top shape, you can't be some fat slob. i mean, you don't see any fat football players.
oh, wait.

It's a cool idea, but one that'll never work. Nobody wants to see nerds playing games.

No
I was in Vegas on 3/14-3/18 and if I saw any betting on video games I would have pointed and laughed. With all the things to do and drink in LV who would waste time on watching geeks playing Half Life.
BTW is any one from LV and drives a cab for a living on CAG? My girlfriend gave the cab driver a good tip because he was saying how he had to go to same local place to buy Twin Snakes that was on sale.

Maybe if they had porn stars/strippers play video games. Then I'd watch/bet/drool.

d00d, have any of you heard of CAL? (CyberAthletics Professional League)
Its a worldwide organization and has gotten Counter-Strike officially recognized as a sport.
