Anybody picking up Mercenaries?

I have $100 credit at Gamestop and was thinking up picking this one up along with RE4.

IGN gave it a 9.1.........Looks interesting.........Thoughts?

The demo in the latest OXM was great and with it getting excellent reviews I'd definiltey love to get my hands on this one. (Had a gamerankings.com score just under 90% when I checked yesterday.)

Based on the demo and reviews it seems to be one of those games that give you a ton of tools and you can use them as you see fit to accomplish your goals. I love those type of games.

But being the cheap ass that I am it'll probably be a long time before I get this one.

boy ol boy.....I picked up mercenaries last night, and I hate to crush your guy's heart but THIS IS WAY BETTER THEN GTA:SA in my oppion. the sandbox approach is genouuis, the vehicles and commands are too kool. Given order for a 14,500$ artillery attack on the North Koreans Barracks, is great fun and yet very rewarding. The variety of vehicles are interesting, my fav is the pickup truck with the missle launcher attached (thankyou MAFIA). The different groups of people who u can take contracts with are fairly stunning and unique.....back to playing some more :)

I thought the demo was swell and I adore my sandbox games but there's still just too many other games monopolilzing my time to drop $50 on it. I will definitely pick it up sooner or later tho because it seems like an incredible game I hope it does well.

I got it yesterday, played it today, and it fucking rocks. They improved the AI slightly, thereby fixing the only problem with the demo. I haven't done much, but it's a great start to a new year.

Yes, A GOOD single player experience is great, but LIVE play would make the replayability of ANY game better. I mean, once I beat a game, I usually don't touch it again.

i remember being that way with my atari 2600...if it wasn't online, then i wasn't buying it. nowadays its different. i'd much rather have a quality single player game...they are so rare IMO.

I picked it up last night, using 2 $5 CC games (July sale) at EB as trade in for $25, per their sale.

Nice to see a couple of games get $9.50 and $10.50 "bonus" credit in the trade-in, when they're normally only be $2 and $3. :D

Well, i finally REALLY got into this game this weekend....it is GREAT! I think I may even like it more than GTA....but not sure, both are fun.

I just wish it had more maps and bigger! Although, I'm sure there will be a Mercenaries 2 (maybe for the nextgen systems though) with LIVE play and co-op, then it would be GREAT!

I want this game as well, but I don't want to pay $50 for it. I played and enjoyed the demo but to me it's not a $50 title. I rarely buy new games anyway since I believe $50 is a rip-off when you can wait a few weeks, or at the most a few months, and get the game when it takes an inevitable price drop.

I'm gonna pick it up for sure at some point. The commericals are what did it for me. They were funny and original. As opposed to every game trying to be "cool" they went for fun and originality. I'm gonna pick up Mercs for sure at some point.

Yep yep....I've been playing on & off. Does anyone know where the 10 Clubs is located? I have that and the ACE left, and I don't want to do the ace since it closes out the suit.

I don't have any other missions to do, the only place is the AN, but that would start the ACE mission

Just got done capturing the first set. Anyone know if there's a place that respawns the crates and health at? And are there only two types of choppers in the game? Really enjoying it thus far.

Well I normally don't post much in the forum, I usually just browse for the video game deals. But im posting now because Mercenaries is one of the best games I've ever played in my life(seriously). I know when I found out that there was no xbox live or 2 players, I was probably never going to get it. But that would of been a big mistake if I did that. If your a military freak like me then this is the game for you. Its kinda like GTA SA but a WHOLE lot better. One of the best aspects of this game is the ability to call in an airstrikes anytime anywhere(There is 16 types of airstrkes). Lets just say everything is destructible except probrably the trees but that really doesn't make the game any less fun than it is. You can also get vehicles airlifted to you via helicopter(29 vehicles). Plus you can order supplies of weapons(18 types).Also if your wondering what version is better, its the xbox. The graphics are a bit smoother and load times are faster than the ps2. Mercenaries rocks! It's so much more gratifying to steal a vehicle by tossing in a grenade first to take care of the crew than tossing an old lady out of her suburban. Plus air strikes own.
