Just include place, amount of $$ to reserve, and any other information you may pick up from the employee (except for rumors and stuff like that). No import information, just U.S. Also, some stores may require more or less for a down payment...please include the different prices. Thanks.
IN STORE PREORDERS
EDIT: Doesn't look like any of these places are cutting preorders off, but I would think your chance of getting a first shipment PSP are pretty slim if you're just preordering. I heard the 2nd shipment is a week maybe two behind the first shipment. Who knows though...it's Sony!

EDIT: Seen a couple reports now of GameCrazy screwing people into preordering 3 games + and accessory, even those who preordered several weeks to months ago. Someone needs to tell these clowns that's only online preordering is working that way. I'd avoid GameCrazy!

Gamestop.com's bundles (http://www.gamestop.com/productmerch.asp?groupid=196)
BestBuy.com

Circuitcity.com
First seen 2/27/05, like BB the value pack is showing for $249.99 but you can't preorder it. Here's the Link. (http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Sony-PlayStation-Portable-PSP-/sem/rpsm/oid/118544/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do)
Amazon.com
Fairly recent (added to list 3/6/05)...selling 5 game bundle for $449.99. (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/detail/-/toys/B0007VZVG0/103-2817266-3462224)
KBToys.com
Thanks to MGoBlue for finding this one. KB recently added a bunch of bundles to their site...LINK! (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=FKSJxY2VJAk&offerid=80478.398347157&type= 10&subid=)
Overstock.com

Then go to the game systems and find the PSP which is priced at $245. Preorder it and at $225 with $1 shipping. This is overstock.com though so go into this pre-order with low expectations.
OOS for the moment!!!!
Sears.com
Noticed 3/16/05, selling the Value Pack for $249.99. LINK! (http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&vertical=TOYS&pid=05 898000000)
I added it to my cart and got charged tax, shipping was fairly cheap at $5.95 but it was 4-6 Business Day shipping. Yuck!
There are lots of site offering the PSP now and a lot of them are charging a lot more than $250. If you find any deals or notice anything worth mentioning please post it and I'll add it to the thread. Thanks.
DID YOU ORDER/PURCHASE YOUR MEMORY STICK DUO?
I recently purchased a 1.0GB Sandisk MS Pro Duo from onsale.com. It was BY FAR the cheapest price I found by at least $15. The price was $106.75 shipped and I now see that the price went up to $112.50 which is still a very good price for a 1.0GB duo.

Gamestop in store has it....50 bucks down or you can trade in 3 non-sports/demos games, get an extra 10 in store credit...then put that money towards a PSP. Hurry though, they told us that pre-orders are close to being shut off.

Why am I doing this...well other than me putting in my 2 week notice last week and now trying to find ways to waste time...I think this will be a good post to keep people informed especially when everyone realizes 3 weeks before launch that the PSP rules and they want one and pre-orders are pretty much over with. But this should also help those out who haven't preordered their's yet. Anyway just include place, amount of $$ to reserve, and any other information you may pick up from the employee (except for rumors and stuff like that). No import information, just U.S.

I will tell you what EB employees get for selling PSP perorders....
A DS thats what. Some worker was trying hard as ever to get as many POs for PSP as he could. His buddy (who used to work their when I was a regular) and happened to be shopping asked him why he was pushing the PSP preorders and he said there was 1 Ds left for the promotion and it was between hima nd another guy who had the top preorders..

Oh yeah, this one time when I was shopping these guys were selling PO's of the PSP so that they could get a PSP!

That's interesting...my local EB usually only has one guy working the entire store so maybe that's just a contest at that EB. That is weird though...sell a bunch of PSPs, get a DS.

Well its got to be larger spread than that one store. He said he was competing with one other guy in his region at a different store for the DS.
Even the x employee/friend started laughing and asked what kind of sense does that make and the guy just said it was something EB was doing and they had one left to give away.
As far as it being widespread I have no idea, but I do believe him. I was evesdroping (while waiting in line) to his convo with his basketbal buddy. The only reason the x employee/friend was in there was so he could make sure the employee was playing hoop that night.

Official info: Every EB Games store I go to down here in miami has pre-orders for $20. In fact, I already pre ordered mine. Word of advice though guys: as soon as Sony announces the price, add whatever amount needed to your pre-order of the PSP to equal Sony's announced price. If you do, more chances you will have first dibs on incomming systems on the day of launch. Just some info from a few friends of mine from a few of my local game stores.

I've already pre-ordered 2 PSP's at 2 local GameStops in my area. Put $50 down on each. Although I probably could've put down only $5 down

Between my TRU credit card and BonusMail (PM me for more info) I should have about $80 in TRU credit by the time the PSP launches. If I can buy one instore, great. If not, I can wait. It's a want, not a need.

Also you might want to include any incentives that stores are giving. I preordered mine at Gamecrazy and I'll get 12 rentals at Hollywood Video for free when I pick it up. Not the best deal but better than Gamestop's. A coupon book would be better.
I haven't preordered this, and I don't plan on doing it. However, this is a cool thread. Keep it up OP!

Guarantee your PSP and then save your receipts! EB apparently has a no-risk policy deposits are fully refundable. So, at launch, if it looks as though PSP will turn out to be a piece of garbage like DS, you don't lose anything.

Not yet, though Sony waited until a few weeks before the Japanese launch to announce the price, too. A fuuny thing I saw in this month's OPM was that they had Sony releasing the price on January 5th at CES, which didn't happen.

Got $50 down on one at Gamestop. He almost talked me out of it by saything he thought it would go for $199 without any of the accessories given in the Japanese version.
Hope it's not true but if so I can get the deposit back or just flip it for a profit if there's a launch shortage.

I'll preorder mine elsewhere just in case, but I'll try to pick it up at Best Buy so I can get the product replacement plan. If the PSP launches at $199, I think the plan costs $25. If the PSP dies on you within the next 2 years you can bring it back and you'll get the price you paid for it back in store credit. I figure, by the time the thing dies (even if it's only a year, year and a half away), MSRP will have dropped at least $25 and I'll actually come out ahead by bringing it back and getting a new one with the credit.

I pre-ordered the PSP at my local GameStop. Of course, you need $50 in order to pre-order one...however, the employee there also stated that if I traded in game(s) for credit, I'd be able to pre-order the PSP as long as it is $25 or more. So, I traded in some games for credit and now have $38 down.

The price will be announced when the launch date is announced and I bet you anything all the preordering will be done by then. Remember in Japan the release date and price was announced a month before launch. If you don't have a preorder and you're planning on having one at launch prepare to stand in line outside of BB, CC, Target, or Walmart the night before the launch date. Mark my words...once Sony makes the announcement and starts it's TV ads it's going to be frickin' crazy. I still think only serious gamers even know what the PSP is...

Come on...read the description. Sorry...just sick of hearing "$50 is too much for a portable game" and "no way am I paying $400 for that bundle". READ THE DESCRIPTION...it's not a set in stone price and it will most likely drop (just my opinion). I'm cancelling if the price doesn't drop to $330 or lower (that's $180 system, 3 x $40 games (better be a good choice too), and a $30 accessory).

I went to EBGames today and used the $230 in store credit (plus $20 out of my pocket) I had to preorder and completely pay for mine. I figured that I had the money and credit now so I might as well use it up and not have to worry about it on release day.
As far as games go I plan on picking something up at Best Buy with GGC. I'll probably limit myself to just one game when I get it, which will more than likely be MGS Ac!d or Untold Legends.
Now its just a waiting game!

Pre-Ordered mine Last night. Interesting Info... Take it or leave it.
Greensboro, NC
Mine will be in the second shipment. I went to 2 ebgames and both said that mine would have to be in the second shipment that should arrive 1-2 weeks after launch day. Second manager said all ebgames are working from second shipments now, even online.
No bundle required in-store. Guy kind of looked at me funny cause I was asking him all kinds of stuff as though I was buying online. He said it didn't matter what I bought. So I put 20 down on the PSP, 10 each on Wipeout Pure & Lumines. I'm figuring a few people won't pick theirs up on launch day or will cancel their pre-orders and I'll end up with one at launch. Or I'll just pre-order elsewhere and get my money back.

The Maxella EB in LA said they were near 90 preorders and close to closing it. I put down $20 today. They said games were $5 each to preorder, but I don't think I'll reserve the ones I want (Metal Gear Ac!d, Lumines, maybe Coded Arms). I'm in no hurry to pick up a Memory Stick Pro Duo. I'm already being forced to get the overpriced 32 MB unit from Sony. When the PSP hits the market there will be a major spike in demand for Duos and this should drive some promotional pricing. Later this year some new developments in flash memory technology will drive some major price drops.
I expect to be able to buy a 1 GB MS Pro Duo for well under $80 before the end of the year.

I think you're both right. I don't mind paying the extra $30-40 to be able to play a full movie and then some off my PSP at launch. But I will also be on the lookout for a good deal on my 2nd 'much cheaper' Duo towards the end of this year too.

Wow--my store never did a bundle as far as I know of, I reserved it in Jan...25 for the system itself, and as late as last week I asked about it after the price was announced, and they said they would have it at launch!

If I read this correctly, and I like to think that I have...
Onsale.com has *2* different 1GB Sandisk Memory Stick Pro Duo available to order. BOTH are out of stock at the moment.
The $105 unit seems to be the "colored" version of these units that you can see pictures of at EBGames.com. I had pre-ordered one of these there for $149.99, not realizing anyone had cheaper prices available. But they are still available through Onsale.com HERE. (https://www.onsale.com/onsale/shop/detail.asp?dpno=283541)
Then there are the "regular" Blue 1GB Sandisk Memory Stick Pro Duo units available for $112 or so. Either unit cost another $8 to ship UPS ground, but the prices are still pretty good.
I've received an e-mail indicating my memory stick is pre-ordered. Thanks for the heads up on the deal!!!

Bestbuy's website has the PSP on it now, although it's only accepting preorders of games and accessories.
Also thought I'd share a website that is doing a very good job of keeping track of where the US PSP is being sold online. You can also leave your email and get updates sent to you although I can't endorse doing so yet because I just signed up for this today. Enjoy.

Did you call the onsale.com for the availability of the item ? I called yesterday about the 1gb pro duo, the regular one not the gaming multi colored one. The rep said that they wont be getting any of those in untill the end of March.
With no assurance that I could get one by the time I get my psp I couldnt order from there.

EBgames.com
Noticed on site as of the evening of 1/26/05.

Gamestop.com

Gamestop.com's bundles (http://www.gamestop.com/productmerch.asp?groupid=196)
Wish GS would make up their frickin' mind...everytime I visit their site they have a new bundle or set of bundles up.
Costco.com
Who knows how many of these Costco is getting, but this was listed fairly recently (2/4/05) AND it's for $248. It will be shipped to you when it's available...eeeeeee, when's that...May!
Link (http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?prodid=11035148&whse=&topnav=&cat=209 56&b=1)
EDIT: Costco took it off their website.
EDIT: I'll leave this here just for fun, but I thought I read that all these Costco orders were cancelled. I could be wrong on that. Who the heck pre-orders a new console from Costco anyway?
BestBuy.com
First seen 2/20/05, for hardware just the Value Pack is listed at $249.99 here. (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=pcmcat54200050025&type=category) Preordering of the games and accessories is available, but website at the time of this edit is not accepting preorders for the system.
No sign CC or Target having preorders yet.
NEW ADDITION: DID YOU ORDER/PURCHASE YOUR MEMORY STICK DUO?
I recently purchased a 1.0GB Sandisk MS Pro Duo from onsale.com. It was BY FAR the cheapest price I found by at least $15. The price was $106.75 shipped and I now see that the price went up to $112.50 which is still a very good price for a 1.0GB duo.
Link to 1.0GB Duo at OnSale.com (http://www.onsale.com/onsale/shop/detail.asp?dpno=651408)
Also available:
512MB Sandisk for $56.50 (http://www.onsale.com/onsale/shop/detail.asp?dpno=377399) Edit: Baaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!! up to $60.99
256MB Sandisk for $34.25 (http://www.onsale.com/onsale/shop/detail.asp?dpno=377398) Edit: Baaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!! up to $36.99
Scan of the actual memory stick I got from OnSale.com!!!!! (http://img172.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img172&image=img0157rs.png)
And I hope it doesn't seem like I'm promoting OnSale.com...if anyone finds better deals please let me know. I'll post them faster than you can say C-A-G! And yes, I'm sure you could buy 30 $1 games from TRU and get enough ebgames credit for a 1.0GB Duo but I'm talking more about cheap online or B&M prices.
EDIT: See merkman's comment on page 4 about the cheaper duo's on onsale.com. My comments are about the blue ones that are available now. He talks about the colored ones like the ones listed on ebgames.com which will come out around the time of the PSP launch. Apparently no more free shipping from onsale.com, which hurts the deal some.

I placed an order (while the site said backorder/call us) on Feb 6th. Didn't call...just went through the website. On Feb 10th I received an email saying the duo shipped. Few days later it was on my doorstep. My only use for the duo was the PSP...so I figured I place an order even though they were backordered and if it shipped a month or a month and a half from that day that would be fine. I was surprised I got it so fast.

If you aren't in a rush to get extra memory then you should just wait out a good deal. I thought the games only used like 700kb for a savegame, so 32MB should be enough for quite a few savegames.
I got a Sony 512mb pro duo stick 2 months back for $34 from Circuitcity, I sadly sold this to a family member and I'm kicking myself for it.
I will be on the lookout for another decent deal like that and will post it when I see one.

I'm not even sure how they knew I pre-ordered 1 each from different stores and why they would bother. The one that called (was 2nd place I had pre-ordered about 3 days after the first) just left a message about canceling the preorder and the guy said I should come in to get my credit taken off the PSP and put back onto a receipt - like that's gonna happen.
I'll just show up March 24th and see what happens. Hopefully they'll forget all about this in the launch day confusion. Or if I can actually get a hold of one, they can either let me buy it or try to pry it from my cold, dead hands. :-)

I don't see anything either. Cheapest I found in stock was like $165 shipped. Like I said before with onsale.com it said out of stock...I placed my order anyway and they shipped me one 4-5 days later. I'd find a place online that lets you place an order on backorder and then just wait it out. PSP isn't here for another month you know, you have time. I think both Sandisk and Sony will be ramping up production of Duo sticks accordingly. I doubt too many people will invest in the costly larger Duo cards after splurging more than $300 for the system and games.

Perhaps Buy.com will presell PSPs at the MSRP, so far they are just selling the games. They are probably the only major outfit that might sell it without inflating the base price, subjecting you to local sales taxes, forcing you to buy bundles, or gouging you on expensive shipping costs.

The funny thing is the box the item that was supposed to get to me the first time around arrived with the replacement. It was an identical box with no product and was beaten up....
Still better than ecost.com tho.

From my online buying experiences; I think Ecost, Buy.com, Dell.com, PC Connection all use the same distribution warehouses when shipping out items. Where they ship from depends on availability and where you live. For instance I live in Georgia and I gotten orders from Ecost, Buy.com, and Dell.com from the same Memphis address.
I think the only difference between the online companies are their pricing policies and level of customer service.
Zoglog
03-07-2005, 06:17 PM
Hmmm, well I know that Ecost, Pcmall and Macmall are the same company. PC connection's customer service has been rather good so far.
It would be strange if they use the same warehouse, maybe that's like a pickup point for items shipped. For the Belkin Tunebase FM, It actually was shipped from belkin directly which was strange.
Dell stuff always seems to come the quikest out of those vendors.

I called a bunch of EB's, GameStops, Game Crazys, Game Rushes...all in my area (SoCal) have stopped taking pre-orders completly, or if I do preorder, will be in the 2nd shipment. So if you want a PSP at launch, and didn't pre-order, best bet would be to wait outside Bestbuy/Target/Walmart.
However, they still are taking pre-orders for games, which shouldn't be too tough to get.

Anyone know if TRU's are doing any kind of pre-orders yet? I got my PS2 from them and that worked out well. I'm pretty nervous about my "second shipment" EB pre-order and want to try to get my hands on a PSP Launch day. I plan to hit the other retail shops around but it would be nice to know I can get one.

No pre-orders at any TRU's in my area for games or systems. And two of the three I checked said they might not get any systems at launch only games.

I think that Best Buy online preorder was executed poorly. I am a charter member of the RZ program and I didn't receive that preorder email. From what I saw it lasted less than three hours before it was cut off (assuming you could get through), so the allocation for this event must have been quite small.
I'm avoiding purchasing from B&M stores because of the hassle and sales tax (about $17.50 where I live). If you didn't preorder with PC Connection when they were charging $249.99, IMO the best bet if you still want to preorder is with kbtoys.com. Assuming you like one of the games they are bundling with their PSP packages; you are not paying any surcharges, shipping costs are realitively low ($5.66 ground), and no sales tax for most states. Also if you change your mind or have a problem with you PSP, you can return it to a KB B&M for a refund/exchange.

You may need to check your account settings and see if you opted out of the marketing e-mails. If you did that, you would not have recieved the offer (it has the standard disclaimer for unsubscribing from the e-mail list in it, so it would apply).
As for how many people got in, I have no clue on how it worked. I managed to get in before they all sold out. There are probably a lot of RZ members out there by now - but still, they should have put in a limited quantity disclaimer or something.

The opt in/out is on the main Best Buy website under your account. Once you sign in there is communication option under "my account" that you can sign up specifically for incentives (coupons, rebates, etc.). That is the only option my account has selected and I recieved the offer.
The RZ offer never actually asked for the RZ number at BB's main site, so I am assuming the RZ account has to be linked (otherwise anyone with the RZ link could have preordered yesterday).

Naw Reward zone is jacked. My roomate has all his settins right and he NEVER gets any of the e-mails or promotions. However Best buy keeps on sending me coupons but not him. poor fella he's so pissed lol. I really should have signed up for RZ when they offered a 10 dollar gift card when you did. I would have used it on the psp anyway and I wouldve gotten points.
Looks like BB will be open in the morning so I don't have to miss work :)
"But that doesn't necessarily mean you'll be without a PSP come launch day. On Thursday, March 24, Best Buy stores around the country will open their video game departments at 8:01 a.m. to sell the PSP. Customers will have the opportunity to pick up what is sure to be one of the hottest gaming products of 2005, Sony's PSP, the revolutionary, all-entertainment handheld, along with games and accessories."

Wonder if my wife will want to come with me. We went to TRU at 6 AM for a 8 AM opening for the PS2. Bu that was because we knew they had pre-ordered over 100 units and only got 60 in. It was funny because the local radio stations were out there asking why we were there so early and then they ended up having a contest to give PS2's away since you couldn't find one at christmas.
I really have to debate the bestbuy though since I have a target 3 blocks for my house that also opens at 8. They have a tendency to not get stuff until later in the day on realease day. Like CD's and games. I think I'll hit them the night before and see what's up in the ole electronics dept. See if they're making shelf space or anything.

Interesting experience at my EBgames today, keep in mind I have my PSP full paid on preorder since beginning february.
Me : Asking about my preorder, if I will be in the first shipment now since more will be coming the 24th and about the extended warranty and what it covers.
Clerk A: 1yr extra warranty is 26.50, blabla.
Me : Yeah add the extended warranty.
Clerk A : hands me 2 slips, preorder cancellation and reorder with warranty.
Me : Won't this affect my preorder position?
Clerk A asks Clerk B
Clerk B : No, since you paid in full, you should get it, we will call you...if you dont, we will hold preorders for 48hrs from those with deposits and then call you if they don't show up.
Me : So first you say I will get it, but then you say you will call me?
Clerk A+B both shrug.
Me : Ok I guess, thanks.
Yeah, I'll be there when the store opens at 10am...the, if they call you thing doesn't sit well with me :P

That's fucking nuts. Why would you have re-pre-order to add the warranty? Shouldn't the warranty be seperate anyway. I'm sure they're going to be pushing the warranty's like crazy on launch day. That's ridiculous. You probably should have just waited to get the warranty on launch day. I hope that didn't screw up your order. That just makes me even more nervous about my order at EB.
sasukekun
03-11-2005, 06:55 PM
What if you waited until launch date, then pick up your psp then ask if you can add a warranty plan to it?
That way you already have your PSP (in hands) and I doubt they will deny you from purchasing a warranty plan then.

I'm sure most retail and online outlets will get PSP shippments up to a week before the 24th, to ensure that they have them to sell on launch day. I'm sure some of the online outlets may ship as long as the recipient gets it around the launch date. For example, I recieved DVDs like the Star Wars trilogy and LOTR Return of the King, several days early than the release date. I guess it depends how strict Sony is on the matter.

Probably, I get the impression that not alot of people are preordering through etoys/kbtoys. I preordered 10 days ago and my order confirmation says I may get my unit by March 22nd. Most likely, it will be sent on March 24th or 25th.

I wonder if any of the online sites that accepted preorders will ship on Wednesday, since the earliest the recipient could possibly recieve it would be on Thursday.
BTW, I found out my local SuperTarget would be selling approx. 80 PSPs on launch day. You could use that figure as a possible benchmark on how many the average major retail store will get. To me, it looks like there will be plenty go around on launch day.
