I have XIII, played a little bit with some friends, thought it was kind of weird. Maybe I'll give it another shot.
I also know about Killzone... but eh... so, any suggestions?

Yes, yes it is, SOCOM 2 is especially good.

If you don't have a headset try to play on the seal side. As a terrorist your team can lay mines down and its important to tell and hear about the mine locations. Which can lead to a lot of team kills.
I agree with both Socom and Socom II.

Alright, I'll definately look into it. Thanks guys. I started playing Quake for PS2 today.. it's decent. The controls aren't perfect and the graphics are sort of strange.... Hopefully SOCOM will be fun :)
edit: Is it easy to get into? Usually when I start an online game I get fragged pretty quick.

Socom2 is awsome, IMHO. Im surprised so many people recommended it considering no CAG s ever play online.

Socom 2 is the shit, I am on a lot under the name Caps 2005. Don't even bother with Socom 1 too many online cheaters, and Socom 2 is on the cheap.
Can you ust the headset to chat in XIII?

Ratchet & Clank UYA is great. I never really liked SOCOM.

Give Killzone a shot whenever you get the chance. You might be surprised if you already haven't. Plus, Killzone has a deathmatch mode, and that's perfect for players without a headset, if you think about it.

no, you have to use a keyboard if anything

Actually, the PS2 version of XIII has no communication out of the box. At least, there's no keyboard or headset support from the beginning. If you have the PS2 set-up over a router with a PC, use something like TeamSpeak to have voice chat for the game.

Definitely Socom 2. Though, I'd suggest having the headset. It's good for team tactics and if you like to talk to people online (I do).

I cannot stand SOCOM. That's probably because I cannot stand the PS2 controller for first person shooters.

It's not really a fps, it's third person.

But you can change to first-person mode. :D
