I've beat the game and I though it was OK. It had an absolutely awesome story, but so-so gameplay in my opinion. Definately worth a play though. You might wanna check out its prequel, Koudelka first.

SH: Covenant (the sequel) is awesome. I'm 30 hours into it now. I don't know about SH1, but I heard it was really underrated and just got overlooked cause it came out the same time as FFX. Good luck finding a copy of SH1, though. I literally called 23 stores in the metro detroit area..........three *said* they had the game in stock used, only one might have had a box. I was lucky enough to snag a copy for $20 w/ the case and manual.

holy shit, a new copy for $35??? I just saw one sell on ebay for $78. I suggest you go back, get both copies, keep the used one for yourself, and sell the other on ebay. You'll more than make your money back and have good game to add to your collection.

I wasn't exaggerating, I literally called 23 game stores (gamestop, eb, gamerush, and media play) looking for this game one day. Only a few had used copies and most were disc only.

I will probably picked up the used copy tomorrow morning, but not sure. IGN gave it a 5.5 and most of the game I buy depend what IGN gave it rating.

I just got the product availability alert today.

And it's increasing in value because people are just beginning to finish up Shadow Hearts 2 and want to play the first iteration. It's very natural in this industry, like how Star OCean 2's price shot up after the release of SO3. Rhapsody quintiplied its value in a month after Disgaea was released. Koudelka doubled in value after the release of Shadow hearts 2 also. Expect to see the same phenomenon in future releases such as Kingdom Hearts. The sealed originals of KH will be going for crazy amounts.

And since all the games that I state above are no longer in production ie. they stopped printing new copies, it is more than likely that the prices will increase if more sequels are released. Not because of rarity (or low print runs), but because of a higher demand and low supply, which will make it more difficult to find. Hence people will be more likely to pay a higher price due to its scarcity.

We'll have to wait and see with this one, if it ever hits Suikoden II type of "rarity". Ignored when it was first came out and you can find it everywhere for $20 or less. Suddenly, people are clamoring for it after it goes out of print and are paying more than retail (MSRP) for it.

Just like I said in my previous posts, this game just can't be found at a B&M in Southeast Michigan. I was watching ebay for about a month and it always sold for around $40.

This is my favorite RPG series (Koudelka, Shadow Hearts, Shadow Hearts: Covenant). Back when I played the first Shadow Hearts it was so different than all the other RPGs...even though it was borrowing a lot of ideas it still seemed fresh. The judgement ring is great, and this is the first M rated RPG I had seen. I couldn't put it down. I definitely recommend getting both Shadow Hearts games (you don't really need to play Koudelka).

I got Shadow Hearts to tide the time for Suikoden 4, mainly cause I've heard some good things from it. But in all honesty I really didn't like it. Kinda boring, but that's just my opinion.

Also, what characters from SH:C are in SH1? I know Yuri and Roger Bacon, but is Gepetto in there, too?

The game isn't all that great, at least not compared to other top tier RPGs...but for $9.99 I'd buy all of them.
