I seem to be unable to choose different MM games after I started MM1.

More detail: I started a new game when I first turned it on (chose "New Game") and decided to play MM1. So it has been autosaving as I go along - great. But now when I load my game (choose "Load Game") it doesn't let me choose any of the other MM games.

Do you have to beat them in order?! I was gonna skip 2 and 3 since I have those in NES and I have beaten them recently.

I don't want to start another New Game because the instructions state that there is only one saved game at a time, due to the way it autosaves, and I don't want to lose my progress with MM1 (got to Dr Wily last night but haven't beaten him yet).

you have to start new games of each game. it wont overwrite your mm1 save

Frankly the megaman ac has the dumbest save capability. It constantly saves, but really doesn't save anything since you need to write down the codes or lose all your progress.

Well, crap. I assumed the save took the place of the codes. :( I was looking forward to not having to write all that stuff down. What the hell is the point then, other than for MM1?

No you don't. I never wrote any codes down and was able to beat 1, 2, 3, and 4.

IIRC it saves your progress (such as starting out at dr. wily’s stage) but not things like lives and energy tanks.

Does using the passwords let you keep track of more stuff than the memory card saves?

Yeah, I'm just saying you don't lose all of your progress.

While I'm here, does changing the difficulty level or number of lives change the game in any way, as far as unlockables or endings?

I haven't stooped to that level yet, since part of the fun of MM is the difficulty and feeling of accomplishment after you beat it, but I might be tempted someday, as my game backlog grows.

No, you get the same thing regardless of lives/difficulty.

I played through and completed every one of the games on the disc. I loved every second of it.

OP, this is wrong information. The game saves your progress, without writing any codes. However, the saved game is like the password system (so, it wouldn't save anything the originals couldn't save. For example, the passwords in MM4 wouldn't save your energy tanks, so neither will your saved game). You only get one save slot per memory card for each of the games.

Same here, this was one of the best compliations to be released. I'm just waiting for a MMX Anniversary Collection.

Mega Man 1 is the hardest of the old school Mega Man games, but 8 is pretty hard too.

MMX Anniversary Collection.

Holy shaq-fuing shit, I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

Sadly, I don't think that would come out anytime soon as the later games in the series are PS2 games and pretty recent at that. MMA is only NES/SNES and 1 PS1/Saturn game, pretty easy stuff to throw together.

Oh, yeah, there's no way in hell it will come out, but I can hope.

MM1 is definitely harder than 2 or 3. I haven't played any of the others yet, so I can't comment on that.

Regarding the Rock Monster, I thought it was really hard, but once you memorize his pattern and use the Thunder Beam glitch he's not too tough. Fighting the 4 robots in a row in part 4 - now that is hard.
