Animal Crossing question

This is probably obtainable on gamefaqs, but I'm at work right now while I'm thinking about this.

When are the monthly fishing tournaments? How do you find out about them? I got the game around Christmas, and I've played every day of January so far. I'll talk to the police dog about going on's, and he's yet to mention it. I know they exist, I don't want to miss my first one.

They are on Sundays in Febuary June and November I think and you can only use Bass from the rivers to to it.

It will be posted on the board near the houses, and you can't miss the stand that will be set up near your lake.

Good strategy I used for this: whenever you catch a large bass, put it in your basement. When it's tournament time, you can use those as if you caught them that day. :)

Their weights are random and you won't get the big bells from selling them, but it'll definitely give you an advantage in the tourney. Man, I haven't played that game forever... Can't wait for the DS version.
