you guys do realize that many people will get ripped off by this right?
Say if I take 2 games to them that I would receive 10 dollars each for if this promo wasn't going on.With this promo, you only get the "extra" 10 dollars from the two games combined, thus Eb ripping you off by 10 dollars worth of credit.
Strangely nobody has thought of this and won't bother to think about how much their games are actually worth used.
Dude, that is amazingly wrong. It is "bonus" credit, thus, it is added to what you would be getting otherwise. So.... if you take 2 games that would get ten each normally, you now get 10 + 10 + 10(bonus) = 30
Did you seriously not understand that?
he is right. it $10 bonus for 2 non-excluded games. and oh yes, MANY discovered that you can use cheap games to do this. I guess this means you didnt get in on the deal since you were unsure how it worked. sorry you missed out. im going to go for a swim in my vat of edge cards. just kidding.

yeah, the guy at EB told me the deal will end on the 28th. but with some changes to the trade in list, its half dead already. oh well, i got enough for a psp. thank you CAG!
P.S. The guys at EB need a quota of psp preorders. since i know i wont need some of the credit so I am preordering 2 psps and just getting my $ back after they launch. I already have my first preorder paid in full at another eb, but i though it would be nice since these guys were nice to me. if you had nice people help you out at eb, use $20 of misc. credit to preorder a psp. you can get it back after it launches. its like a store credit bank! (uhh...banks have interest and free toasters, though)
yea i was in one of the eb last night and was told that there are now tons of games that wont add 5 bucks too (seems they knew people would be runing in and buying 3 4.99 games and trading them back in for 10 bucks so you got a free game)
i got a 20 buck gift cert instore from the P brave rebate. Might run and see if they got any good games. Wouldnt mind picking up WILD ARMS 3, and 2 other rpgs for around 20

I guess he has some point though. With this $10 promotion, you are most likely to get $11 to $12 dollars most since they give most games 50 cents to a buck. So each game is worth about 5-7 dollars. Before all these trade-in deals, does anyone remember how much EB gives per game in average? I would think they give much higher per game before?

Well, you can thank hoarders who abused the system like slidecage and CAG1000 for ruining it for everyone. . . Sorry, you can thank yourself! It's the slidecage/CAG1000 rule that officially states that all good deals must come to an end (thanks to abusers racking up $1000+ of ill-gotten credit).

, least i dont take 5 games in to get a game free then take it back and DEMAND i get 50 bucks credit for the game though the 5 games i traded in would never total 50 bucks
seems the people who want to blame hoarders So this all the time and dont see anything wrong with it.
O i got The Steel game for the xbox for 20 buck Cause i Went and traded in 5 Junk games and a 50 buck game and returned them to get this game Cheap. Eventhough i Knew for a fact I wouldnt keep the game i traded in 5 Old games to get . I still have the right to Take back the 50 buck game and rip off eb games ... ANd I know for a FACT these are some of the longer CAG members here who do this and ACT like its no big deal but they are the first in line to point fingers at people hogging games
they dont care the trade 2 in get an extra 10 is gone cause they are still trading in 5 junk games to get a 50 buck game and taking it back for 50 bucks credit

What's the big deal about returning a new $50 game for credit? It's still $50 credit either way, right? EB isn't going to give you back $50 cash, are they? If you later spend that same $50 credit on something else in the store (new or used) anyway, I don't see what the big issue is.

As much as I agree with you, just let it go. If not slidecage, then it would be someone else (maybe someone who doesn't even post but just registered to see the deals or some FW'er). It just happens. When TRU had that sale, even I expected the promotion to crap down the hole soon. But I feel for you too.

I've been thinking of just passing them out at random to students in the class that I TA for (along with penny guides). Would it be too odd to give away games & guides as prizes for participation in a college-level math class?

I have few left. I'll keep them for the cases.
6 month ago they accepted them on trade 3 + $10, 4+$15, 5+$20 This 'an incident' didn't stop them from doing it again this time. I'm sure they screw up next time. They don't like to be raped by Cags? on well..with their trade in values and endless exclusions lists THEY CAN KISS MY ASS!

now if you're smart and you acknowledge how the deal works, then you can utilize it to your advantage by trading in 2 games worth less than 5 dollars trade in each.
EB marketing managers will find ways to completely rip off customers at every turn, while making them think that they are scoring a sweet deal. While it may benefit some, it usually swindles easy money from unsuspecting consumers
you have a point normally sancho but he reason this works well is because the games everyone is turning in are a couple years old and i've priced most of the games at TRU and CC that are on clearance over at gamestop just to see the difference is trade in value they trade in mostly 2 dollars a piece so you can either trade them in for $2 or trade them in at eb for the $.25-$1 + $5 credit its up to you

I had no problems trading in today, manager gladly took my games.
After all that was done though I checked the game section and they had, buy this game (selected psp games) and get $10 for each game you trade in (ps2/xbox/gc).
I'm kind of kicking myself now because I traded in quite a few games that weren't POX and that I could have gotten $10 a piece for towards the psp games I bought.

Most of the problems are probably coming from EB s that are experiencing high returns of multiple copies of the same game (ex - primal) and jam packs. I am sure this is YMMV as with anything.

slidecage's nearly incoherent rant is about me . . . I traded in 4 (not 5) non POX games (Xenosaga, Mafia, Hitman, etc) to get a "free" $50 game. Then returned the game for $52.50 in store credit (they gave me the sale's tax as well). I did it 5 times, so I was over $250 in credit. The Promo was with EA, so maybe they got screwed as well. Because it was only 20 games at a couple different stores, I wasn't exactly dumping games. It was sweet deal!
Today, my JPs didn't get bumped up . . . oh well, 10 Jampacks brought in $50 and I only have 2 left over . . . extra cases for games, I guess.

Indeed, it was a group of idiot managers in the LA area that have all been fired. Ironic that all the people bitching about hoarders and fatwalleters and slidecages, and it was idiot EB employees that made the deal less sweet.

I went today, traded in Primal, RE:CVX, Tekken 4, Gladius, Sphinx, and XIII and got $40 in credit. I'm taking PaRappa the Rapper 2, Primal, DOA2 Hardcore, and Dark Cloud in tomorrow. I might use the credit to pre-order GT4 for when it comes out Monday or Tuesday.

Do all stores allow this? and did you show your receipt when returning, did they know that you used a trade in deal to get the game in the first place?
I would love to trade in 5 non POX games now for say Splinter Cell and then return it and use the credit for God of War or hold it for Kingdom Hearts 2 later in the year.

Your credit just goes down on preorder. Everytime they've done something like this I've been able to walk in a week or so and just change the preorder to another upcoming title if I decided i didn't want that title.

You might want to still trade at FYE if you have one near you. I traded back 12 games to FYE(alot of which I paid $5 for) and got $110 for them. I had the girl at FYE scan them 1st and then I told her I was going to see what I would get at EB because of the $10 bonus. I took the same games and even with the bonus, I would have got $65. There are alot of games that FYE gives you $7.50 for that EB gives you a $1 or so.

I know a lot of people feel this way, but I'd rather have $6 at EB ($1+$5 bonus) than $7.50 at FYE. Just my view.

Yeah, you can do this 2 different ways . . . a long expanation to hit all the details:
Preorders are easy to cancel and transfer the credit (has anyone been turned down on this?). Like last summer I traded in two cheap games to get $20 off Pikmin 2 (but then bought it for $28.77 at Target with a raincheck). I directly swapped the $20 credit slip onto Katamari Damacy (got it tax free that way).
I found that returning a purchased game is a little trickier . . . 2 regional EBs wouldn't do it (or wanted to remove the promo "bump up" that I had gotten :puke: )
2 other stores just gave me the credit without question.
As I'm always trying to squeeze out every penny, these tradeins were the best I've had. 4 games for $50 (had to be non-POX games) plus I got taxes I never paid back.
If you cancel a preorder or just do a tradein, you get a tax-free advantage but in my experience only if you keep it on your edge card (instore credit) if you want to put that on a giftcard, you lose that advantage (to get a pin# to buy online). With these deals, they gave me $52.54 (5.1% state taxes) on a giftcard for each game I returned.
The games I was using for trade were TRU clearance or green tag titles but in Dec. we were getting the extra $5 off per game in pairs with the "magic coupon" ( :notworth: RIP) My ave. game cost about $2 . . . so basically my $40ish became $260 in EB credit. And I didn't have to ransack TRU to do . . . I left games behind for others.

so true, i had $300 credit at fye that i tried to swap over to EB by getting good fodder to trade in. yea i took a major loss but i would much rather have the credit at eb than fye.

Sadly, Mark of Kri garnered a whopping .75 cents and Beyond Good and Evil a little over double that. Fortunately, what I spent on them new (20 total for both), and the extra 10 bucks, I came out only about 7 dollars less than what I paid, or 65% back.
Ended up paying about 22 for FF Tactics Advance for the trade in. Not too shabby. (still, I would have been happy to get 2 bucks a piece for each of them.)

Ok, back from my second round of trading. Traded in Dark Cloud, Primal, PtR 2, and DOA2 for $25.25 total credit. I ended paying in full pre-orders for GT4 and MVP Baseball 2004 with the credit and some extra b-day cash. Great week for me on CAG.

I ask because its time for a rant:
I went to EB games for my third time yesterday, with Taiko drum master and a few other games. The SOB at my EB wouldn't take it without the drum. Also, he wouldn't take any jampacks, primal, or Exibtion discs I had, claiming they were on an "exclusion list". When I tried explaining that I had had no problems last Sunday, he said that I should have, and just got lucky, and then pulled a "Well I'm the store manager, so blah blah blah". OK, whatever, so I started looking around for anything to get with the buy 2 get 1 sale, which there was nothing good in stock, but while I was doing this, I heard the prick telling another employee "yeah, these guys come in all the time, trying to trade in shit they got for real cheap and get 10 bucks for it". THE SOB WAS TALKING ABOUT ME! I am NEVER going back to that EB.

Dude, you seriously need to call their corporate office and report that S.O.B. You do not have to put up with that.
In fairness, as I used to work in a game store, I'd talk sh-t about customers- but only after the store was empty or well out of earshot. Even then I'd triple check- people have a way of sneaking back up on you when you have your back turned.
As to where the amendment is, use the address I provided and delete the /exclusions tag in the address.

I just got back yesterday from trading in Otogi 2, Drake, Metroid Prime, and Ghost Recon and came out with a $32 credit...not great but not bad either.
I am sure everyone is aware of this, but I thought I'd post it anyway in case someone missed it throughout the past 27 pages...
I tried to trade in Sword of Mana, and the guy said GBA games do not work because they aren't in the current generation. Again, I'm sure this was posted already, but I figure a reminder would be nice so nobody makes the trip expecting them to work for this deal.

I directly swapped the $20 credit slip onto Katamari Damacy (got it tax free that way).
...
Wait, I'm a little confused. Is there no tax on items you preorder and pay in full beforehand? Or do you only get the zero tax break by cancelling a preorder and using the credit on something else?

Here's an example based on what I've been able to figure out based on trades I've done w/ the trade 2, get $10 deal (based on 6% sales tax):
Method A:
Transaction 1:
- Trade in 4 games, get $20 credit.
- Have credit put on edge card.
- Total Credit: $20
Transaction 2:
- Buy $20 in stuff
- Total: $20 + 6% tax = $21.20
- Amount left on edge card: $0.00
- Amount to pay: $1.20
Method B:
(All on 1 transaction)
- Trade in 4 games, get $20 credit
- Buy $20 in stuff
- Total = $20 stuff - $20 credit = $0.00
- Amount on edge card: $0.00
- Amount to pay $0.00
(Method B is pretty much the same as when you're doing the preorders w/ bonus credit -- you get $50 in credit and immediately apply that towards a $50 game, at which point you have a $0.00 total and no tax applies)

Nope, they wouldn't let me trade in my doubles at all.
Oh well, got 24 dollars for 4 games that I spent 15 or so on, and used it to get Star Fox Assault, good deal for me I suppose.

I was thinking about doing the same for Star Fox Assualt... but most of my games are from the TRU sale, like Primal, New Legend, Mojo, Wipeout, Black and Bruised, etc.... not sure if games like that will work.

All of my TRU games worked like a charm including:
Primal
Ejay Clubworld
Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX
UFC Tapout
Mad Maestro
The computer recognizes the games and the discounts automatically so you don't have to worry about a cashier being stupid. The amounts show up at $.25 and then they hit Total, and everything gets the $5. As long as they are not sports games that have a new version every year, you should be good to go.

I have 4 games that I can trade in...
- Outlaw Golf 2
- Tiger Woods 2004
- Devil May Cry 2
- Silent Hill 2
What will hurt me is the fact that the two golf games are considered sports games and therefore not included in the deal. However, I think I could use Devil May Cry 2 and Silent Hill 2 in the deal.... Right?
Anybody trade in any of those games yet? I'm trying to get Gran Turismo 4 on Tuesday. If EBGames doesn't give me some good credit, then should I take it to FYE?

DMC2 and SH2 will work, I had SH2 scanned and it worked.
I'm thinking Outlaw golf may work since it's not really a hardcore sports game. I would give it a shot, just pair it with some other cheap game.

If they are not POX and you are preordering certain games, they will give you $10 for them a piece.

Sorry, my brain must be gone, because I'm still confused. Why do you have to pay tax when using your Edge card, but not have to pay tax when you're doing an immediate trade-in/purchase (Method B)? In both methods A and B, no money is exchanged, so why does sales tax even apply? And why does it only apply in method A, but not Method B?
I'm asking because I want to pay for a PSP using credit on my Edge card, so no tax would save like 20 bucks. TIA

Say you have Game A, B, C, D
On the first day you bring one Game A + B + C + D to get your $20.00+.
The next day you bring once again Game A + B + C + D to get another $20.00+.
Will a red flag pop up saying this person has already traded in Game A + B + C + D and stop you from trading this batch in?
I'm curious because I bought 2 copies each of about 3 different $3-4 games and when I did all of this they asked for my driver's license.
Also, do you think they will take in the Gamecube preview disc (the one that had a Splinter Cell, Soul Calibur 2 and Viewtiful Joe demo)? I mean I did buy it from them and it's not a sports game. Or do you think it borders on the Jampack-like disc clause and shoot me down?

The bottom line is, that no matter what kind of promotion EB is running, they will always come out ahead when you trade in your games.
Which is calling 'running a for-profit business.' As an investor and customer, I would hope they would continue to do so, that way they stay in business and can continue to provide jobs and goods.
None of my local TRUs have had any of the cheapy stuff for trade fodder; I might take in some higher-value games to get the cred and bonus, and use it for Digital Devil Saga, since 55 bucks would hurt out of pocket, and I don't know if I want to fool with online trades.

Took in the last of my TRU coupon goodies on Saturday. I had taken all but one of the games out of the original cases and replaced them with Blockbuster DVD cases. I used a pre-owned Suikoden III case for the last game. Went to EB and traded them all in.
Got home and was looking at my reciept and it turns out that the guy scanned the game in the Sui III case and it rang up as Sui III. So I got credit for Sui III instead of Mad Maestro.

You had a Mad Maestro disk, in a Suikoden III case, including the SuikIII liner/jacket/UPC? That could definitely be construed as fraud/misrepresentation....
I'm curious as to why a lot of these purchases aren't taxed? You aren't actually 'trading' games, you are exchanging games for credit, then exchanging credit for games, so it should be treated as a 'sale,' thus, taxed.

Because no money was exchanged. Sure, they say you get $5 trade-in credit, but it's not five actual dollars. They could just as easily call it 5 points, or 5 EB Buckaroos, since it's worthless everywhere else. It's a trade, not a sale. But I believe there is a seperate barter/trade tax, so that might depend on your state.
At least, that's how I understand it. I haven't tried spending my credit yet, so who knows...

I have four games to trade in, I was thinking of trading in some spare TRU games I got:
Universal Studios
Eternal Darkness
Mojo
R: Racing
But I'd expect only like 25 dollars or so for all of those total, and since I want to get Wario Ware Touched (I recently got a DS but only one game), I'd get it for less than 10 dollars, but, I figure I'd rather keep those four games for GR trade-in's, such as the trade 2, get a preorder game for 35, or anything else like that. I'll just get Wario Ware at BB with a GGC (if they have one around), for around 30+ out of pocket, not a bad deal really.

How are the EB's keeping track of duplicates? At mine, all I do is sign my name, address, and driver's license #. I had a few duplicates when I went in tonight. They just put them on seperate transactions. But they would not take wrestling games. They counted as sports. I got $177.25 in credit. I bought a bunch of games and looked at my collection when I got home. I could go back and trade in a few more to thin out my collection of filler titles and get another $90-$100 in credit. Then I could finish paying off WM21 and get a few more games (Starfox: Assault and RE:CVX (GCN). But the duplicates depends on who you get at the counter.

That's why I don't trade in many of my games . . . I know someday that I will want to play Mario Sunshine again and a new $50 game is going to be $15 in the future. So, I can wait until the price is right on RE4.
Games are so relative in price. But I want to keep much of my collection intact.
I do trade in stuff that I bought cheap or cheap games that I know I'll find cheap again in the future. Especially if a cheap game is not POX . . . then you can get $10 on a preorder but buy it again for $10 or less if you regret it.

Well, I've gone around to all the area EB's and GameStops, and bought Jampacks. One of the local store still takes them, so I've amassed 3 of each. This store rocks all, apparently, because they don't limit me to 6, like other stores have. So i'm trading a full set of JamPacks 2 days in a row, 2 copies of eternal ring (3.99 game), Extermination (2.99-3.99 game), and other various cheapass games. Then I go to the stores that are bastards and don't let me trade, use my Edge card and buy up all the stock they have of games under 4.99, rinse and repeat. The guy behind the counter is the most forgetful it seems, and most of the other employees as well. I've bought (so far)
Katamari Damacy (omg this is a great game, wish i played it sooner)
Megaman Collection
X-Men Legends
Suikoden IV
Paper Mario 1000 Year Door
Mario Kart Double Dash
Prince of Persia (both of em)
Jak series
GTA: San Andreas
Viewtiful Joe 1/2
Ace Combat 5
Ratchet/Clank games
Star Wars Battlefront
Lord of the Rings series, Movies and 3rd Age
And I started with 50$ at GameStop while they had their b2g1f sale. What a beauty this was for me. I've got 19.81 left on my edge card. I think I worked this sale pretty well. Try trading in 2 Jampacks before you go around buying them like I did, hate to see someone get burned. I've gone to 6 stores near me, and this store is the only one that lets me trade in demos like that. Especially en masse, beautiful stuff. Can't get over how much they let me trade in. He just kept separating them at 6 per reciept on his own, didn't even ask me. Anyway, good luck all, the sale's almost over, don't let it slip away! As far as I know, good games to use that aren't jam packs are X Squad, Eternal Ring, Extermination, MDK2 Armageddon, RTX Red (red something, i forget), Time Splitters. Just grab what you can using store credit to buy, and your discount card to save on, and the B2G1 to really rack up. Then when you buy again with your credit on games you really want, make sure to get that 10% again. Fun times. Gotta love bad corporate forsight, and employees who let it happen.

I don't want to even think about the amount of time you spent driving back and forth
I traded in 2 games(rogue ops and primal) and got 11.25 for it with the bonus and i'm happy with that...

A whole lot of work for a whole lot of reward? Sometimes the work involved really does overwhelm the fun and savings though. Certainly, it was a nice score, but I'm sure he had to put plenty of effort into it as well.

Sometimes the best scores only come to those that put in alot of effort.
Effort to drive to 2 diff TRU
Effort to trade in the games to 3 diff EBs by me
Worth every aspect, have my psp paid off, have 2 launch games and the warranty paid off.
A lil time and patience combing the TRU and EB deal

I traded in 8 games yesterday, all stuff I'd gotten cheap at Circuit City during one of their big clearance sales last year at like $3/per. Ended up getting FIFA Street preorder and $15 back on Edge card.
I still came out on top because I had spent so little on the games initially, but man, EB's trade-in values suck. If those were games I had paid full price for I would be really ticked off at how little I got for them. The only thing that made it worthwhile was the $10 bonus credit.
Also: mentioned before, but Jampacks do not work for the promotion. I had a really nice kid as a clerk and he actually tried to get the system to take it, but no dice. They did take it in trade but I only got a quarter for it. Good thing I had brought another trade-worthy game just in case...

Any idea how much trade-in credit I can get for these 4 games:
Get on Da Mic (no mic)
Contra shattered soldier
Devil may cry
Mad maestro
What if the game is really scratched? Do they take a percent off or reject it completely? 1 of the games there has quite a few scratches, which is why little children should never be left alone with video games or dvd's.

I got a quarter for Mad Maestro and $2 for DMC before the $10 bonus.
traded in:
pikmin
gauntlet dark legacy
GT3 a-spec
metal gear solid 2
zone of the enders
pokemon coliseum
super mario sunshine
star wars: rogue leader
for 71.50
I got Resident Evil 4 too and it was NOT taxed so I have 21.50 left on an edge card now ^_^
Honestly, wow, you got ripped off. I don't consider trading 8 games for one, and maybe another with the 20 a very good deal...
Unless you got them really cheap in the first place (I doubt, on a few of those at least), then I don't think you got such a great deal.
Well, I actually got the gamecube games all in one package from some goon on ebay when I bought my gamecube (the total package was around 150 dollars a little over a year ago) along with some other games and 2 extra controllers - all used of course. So I didn't really have any sentimental or monetary value associated with them. The PS2 games were just really old and I never really play them anymore.
On the other hand, RE 4 is hot ^_^

This is slightly off topic... but has anyone had trouble cancelling preorders at EB (that were made via the trade 5 games for $50 credit deal) and then transfering that $50 to an Edge Card?
I traded in some TRU games (cost me $15) today for the Splinter Cell Chaos Theory preorder I want that $50 credit since I'm eyeing a PSP.
A CAG mentioned earlier it worked but he ran into an occasional hitch now and then.
It should be okay. In fact, it was an EB employee who told me about cancelling preorders, and he said he's done it himself. If you get a refusal, just go back when someone else is working there.

Haven't heard anything lately. The newest ones are listed in the EB Presidents Day thread. As someone before mentioned, maybe you should consider trading in to preorder something, cancelling, and then holding the value on an edge card. Of course, you run the risk of EB saying no though.

I think that the 5 games for 50$ preorder credit can apply to any pre-order game. If not, I'm sure you could just pre-order one, then transfer balance to another. I bet you can trade in 10, pre-order 2 games, transfer balance to psp. I think a few people have done this. You could transfer to most any games I'm sure.

Get this: I dropped by EB before going to work this morning to trade in 4 games... I parked outside on the street with a parking meter. I put in 30-cents for 18-minutes.
I trade 4 crap TRU games for $22.50 in credit but i end up talking to the EB clerk for several minutes, about current gaming industry events and reminiscing about the good ol' days.
I walk outside and find a parking ticket on my car for $35! The ticket was given at 11:18 am and I got to my car at 11:19am.
Talk about a waste of time. Any "profit" I made today is going straight to the parking ticket... Plus, I ended up getting to work late so I lost out on some more money there! Sometimes i question if it's worth all the trouble for this TRU/EB swap (i.e. opportunity costs). sheesh! :x

PSP launch games will have a "trade in a game, get $10 towards preorder" deal. You can trade in as many as you want, up to the purchase price. That's like, 20 launch titles, although I'm not 100% certain the deal applies to every one of them. I know Metal Gear Acid, Untold Legends, Ridge Racer, and Darkstalkers are included. The excluded trade-ins list applies, of course.
This deal starts Sunday, IICR.

Unlike EB, Gamecrazy will still let you do the 2/$10 deal if you don't have the games' instructions. This can be useful if you are able to find several $3.99 or cheaper non-sports games @ and EB and have something you want @ a GC, as most of EB's cheaper titles seem to be lacking instructions. This is especially useful now that the buy2get1 sale is going on.

I think I'll trade in the final four TRU games I have, but I already traded in copies of these, they will accept these, right?
R: Racing Evolution
Mojo
Eternal Darkness
Universal Studios
I can already expect about 25 credit for those, which is good because I only paid like 10 for those.
EB won't freak out if I give them R:Racing in a double-disc GCN case, will they? There's a blank spot there for a disc, and I don't think I can exchange cases with any game I have...

I went to trade in the Killzone demo that I got from CC, the one that was a penny. It wouldn't scan but the lady manually entered it as the Killzone full game which gave me $16.50 in credit for it after the promo. Being the nice, and stupid guy I am, I pointed out that it was only the demo, so she said that she couldn't accept it.
I was just curious, if I hadn't said anything, would they be able to do anything about it. I know they have my info, but its not like I tricked them so they wouldn't be able to take away the credit right?
I didn't do it because she had been nice to me and I had gathered up about $200 in EB credit. I would like to keep a good reputation there so if any more deals come, I can take advantage of them again.

Last night I was reminded of why I hate EB tradeins and why the goal of getting an "edge" on them is a good one.
Last mopping up of games . . . I turned in State of Emergency PS2 (got a $5 xbox one last summer at CC) and Quantum Redshift ($4 PO) . . . both would have been .75 without the bonus.
They really rip off the unaware . . . lots of people will just accept .50 for a game because they don't want to take it back home. Yes, they need to make profits but they could be more reasonable.

As long as there are no doubles, you should have no problems. They'll probably break it into two transactions, since the computer only allows 12 trade bonuses at once.
And if you have doubles, just do separate trips.
So, I have been going to two EB Games with my stuff - some of which was from TRU, some from other places, and some actual games I wanted to get rid of.
I hadn't traded anything in to this EB in over a week and had never seen the one guy working there before (so there should of been no memory of my previous couple of Mojo trades). He scans in my Xbox Mojo and GC Tony Hawk 4 and tells me the computer won't accept them. He can't do anything about it because it "comes from corporate". He goes on to say that it could mean they have too many of this game or just don't want to take it in any more (but all out of his control). And besides, Tony Hawk is a sports game so it doesn't count.
So, OK, as far as Mojo is concerned, I can see why this ONE store wouldn't want to take it - it is only a mile from a TRU that had a pile of Mojo's and I noticed quite a few in their front bin for the B2G1 sale. But I knew the guy was BS-ing me when he threw in the "comes from corporate" thing and particularly when he told me Tony Hawk 4 was excluded. ESPECIALLY when it rang up at "0" trade value according to him. Wouldn't it ring up at least 25 cents or something even if it was a crappy game excluded from the $5 bonus deal (and being a GCN PC title I don't think I would consider it a crappy game)?
Anyway, I hauled myself over to the other mall where they had absolutely no trouble giving me $13 credit for those two games ($7 for Tony Hawk 4). "From corporate" my ass... Anyway, since that was the last of them, I just decided to buy the DS (still had to shell out $65 cash though - but at least my cash went to the "nice" store).
Besides the little hiccup tonight the deal has gone well for me EXCEPT -
I had a friend (not interested in games) buy some games at a TRU across the country and send them media mail (wouldn't want shipping taking all the bonus away). She sent them almost 2 weeks ago and they haven't gotten here yet. When they do arrive (I'm sure it will be Monday since that's the day after the deal ends) I'll have to figure out what to do with a couple of Primal's and some other junk (but different than anything else I had). The TRU's here never had Primal so I thought it would have been refreshing for the EB's here to get a few for a change :). Oh well, I can always save them for Gamerush deals.

Yup. Exactly what I expected, I got 25.50 for the four other TRU games I selled off today (my final batch), which were, of course, Mojo, R:Racing Evolution, Eternal Darkness, and Universal Studios. Used that credit for NBA Street V3 for the GC. It was a display copy, though. Oh well, case is perfectly fine, and everything was included in the box, for about 25 dollars for a new copy of Street V3 is good enough for me! :D
I got around 54 dollars for all eight of the TRU games I traded in, used that credit up on Star Fox Assault and NBA Street V3, so, I picked those up for about 50 dollars out of pocket for both of them. Which is a great deal I think.
Once again, thank you OP... and EB as well.

I didn't encounter any jerks who wouldn't let me trade in-- all the EB workers I encountered were super-friendly. But if someone tries to BS you, here's the exact procedure: scan in game, hit F12. That's it. If they try to give you some crap about the computer not accepting it, tell them to show you the message on the credit card swiping screen (which should display the normal credit you would get).
And much respect to the OP. Best deal ever.

Now Gamecrazy (Hollywood Video's answer to Blockbuster's GameRush) is givng the consumer an extra $10 bonus credit if you bring in two NON-SPORTS games.
They also added this somewhat ridiculous stipulation - you can only recieve the $10 bonus once a day. That means if you bring in 4, 6, 8, 10, etc. games a day, you only get the $10 bonus once. That means to take advantage of this, you need to bring in 2 games a day.
And I think this promotion will end at the end of March (not too sure, because the 2-3 Gamecrazy clerks didn't know either).

How often does EB have these type of deals (Buy 2 get 1 free AND $10 bonus for trading in 2 used games)?
I remember during the holidays (2004) they had B2G1 Free... and I think last Spring they had Buy 1 get 1 free for the 16-bit systems (SNES/Genesis) when I bought like 20 SNES games.
Just curious. These 2 promotions were great deals, especially combined with the TRU green tag sale. I hope they come along again.

Usually every couple of months.
I have to admit, EB picked a great time to run this promotion, thanks to TRU's 90% sale. My store is now sitting on about 15 copies of Primal and eJay for ps2.
Some people made a killing this month.

My gamecrazy in Seattle said that the credit had to be used when i turned in the games, and even then only on used products, so I couldn't rack up the credit like we all did at EB. Any one else's have these same rules?

The B2G1 Free or the $10 bonus for trading in 2 games? I would assume B2G1 free is much more often... I don't recall the $10 bonus deal before but maybe I just wasn't paying attention. Hopefully EB will run this again even after they got bombarded by a ridiculous surplus of Primal, Mad Maestro, etc.
Yeah, a lot CAG made a killing this month thanks to TRU. I enjoyed building up some store credit but I probably got more of a thrill treasure hunting at various TRUs. I guess I get off on it in a wierd sort of way.

Yeah, you can't build up GC store credit in this deal. You have to spend it right away. That sucks unless there's a specific game you're targeting that you want.
BTW, wrestling games are included this $10 bonus deal. At least at my Game Crazy.
I traded in Rogue Ops (PS2) and Legends of Wrestling II (XB) for Panzer Dragoon Orta (XB). Those 2 games only cost me $4 (TRU) but they gave me $14 credit, which basically covered the the entire cost of Panzer. Not bad.

I can't believe many consumers would make the mistake of trading in their games for piss-poor credit more than once. You regularly get screwed over so badly by most retail stores that it's simply not worth the effort. You're better off donating used games to charity for a tax write-off than trading them in for cash or store credit. :(

I just want to thank everyone on CAG for alerting me to this deal. With lots of patience and research, I was able to spend $150 and turn it into $400 in store credit. I didn't even have to hoard much, as I mostly just bought EB's $4.99 games at B2G1F - 10% and traded them back in to a different store. Nobody batted an eyelash the whole time. EB sure is stupid.

I'd say $150 spent translating into $400 in credit isn't too bad, wouldn't you?

Definitely not bad spending $150 to get $400. I ended up spending about $42 to get $196ish. ~22cents on the dollar. Yahoo! Would have done more but by the time I got to our TRUs, they were slim pickings and I had to dig and hope for restocks. I'm happy. I didn't have any problems turning any TRU games into three different EBs.

Not too shabby. Unfortunately for me, $0 spent was translated into $0 in credit. :( Proximity to said stores and lack of time has doomed me once again.

saying though some stores wouldnt take a lot of the cheap games so instead of turning 150 into 400 you could of turn 150 bucks into what 30 junk games you will never play (since eb wouldnt take them and you were only buying them to trade them back in)
yea they was able to do it great job.. I turn about the same maybe a little less profit .. Overall i was able to walk away with 550 bucks on a Ebgames card dont know how much i really blew

Not too bad considering all but 2 of the games listed are 20 bucks or less retail brand new, and much less pre-owned. Knockout Kings is like $3.99 at my local Gamestop.
But yeah, they normally give jack for credit, which is why I mentioned I normally wouldn't have done this if the bonuses weren't in effect.

If you combine this with the recent TRU sale, wow. Just wow. You can make a heafty profit.
