Using Firefox and all my bookmarks are now gone. What the hell happened?

I was using WMP10 last time, then opened up Firefox and the system crashed. I only noticed the missing bookmarks just now.

I did a virus scan with AVG just yesterday and AdAware scan the other day. What the...? Anyway to get my bookmarks back?

Edit: *NOW with more descriptive subject line!!!! Hurry, limited time offer only. Please help now.*

Update: Apparently there is the possibility that you could lose all your bookmarks if your PC crashes while FF is up. Be sure to install the Bookmark Backup Utility (http://www.pikey.me.uk/mozilla/?extension=bb)to save you the hassle. And be sure to change the backup folder in that utility to somewhere accesible. I had no idea you could even lose your bookmarks, but just goes to show that you need to backup everything.

Friendly reminder to Firefox users (aka bump).

BTW, for those users that still have the original bookmarks FF gives you, could you give me the sites in the Quick Search folder? There's Google, Wikipedia, and a few others I can't remember. Thanks.

Backing up your stuff is always a good idea regardless of what kind of program (or hardware for that matter) that you're using, especially if it's something of vital important for work, school or tax purposes.

Forget IE and Firefox. You need to try Opera web browser. In my book, it's simply the best.

Invented tabbed browsing... and still does it the best.
Mouse gestures.
Renders as fast, if not faster, than Firefox.
Extremely customizable.
Supports all major Web standards.

Are you sure you lost them, or perhaps you accidentally changed profiles?

Try changing profiles.

Try changing profiles.

This is exactly what happened to me. I accidently changed profiles. Went back to default and there was my bookmarks. :D

Nope...I checked and it's still on the default and only profile available. It has happened to many other users before when I checked all the Mozilla support forums.
