Hate them nasty Counter-Strike graphics, but love Couter-Strike? Then get steam! It's like Counter-Strike on crack! I don't really feel like explaining it, so www.steampowered.com . Thank me later.

I thought it was just a program you install that you're forced to download and install everything from and that takes obscene amount of memory from sitting in the background of your system.

Yah, steam does suck. How does it make the gfx better, I haven't noticed any difference for better or worse.

Maybe my computer is crap, but it makes a world of difference to me. And it's so streamlined and pretty to look at. Finding a good server is NEVER hard with Steam. As for taking up a bunch of memory because it's double your files, it doesn't do that. It clears out the old ones, but saves them as new ones. Bitches.

Seeing how graphic quality is mainly based upon your gpu, I find it difficult to believe that playing the same game online will magically give you better graphics.

Maybe it looks like you have better graphics because you're not lagging as much. Steam just found you servers with better ping.

All the jaggies are gone, and the interface is extremely smooth and streamlined. Trust me, it's awesome.

I don't remember the pre-steam days very well... did Half-Life always support widescreen? I noticed this when I installed steam on my laptop. For me, that is a great feature that falls in the realm of graphical improvement

I just tried to install steam last night and no luck. It had a problem with my CD Key, which I am very sure is not warez or key-gened or anything. I have used it many times in the past to play online, so now I am quite upset. I emailed them but didn't get an answer yet. Anyone have any idea what might be the problem?

maybe a generated key is used that matches yours

That was my guess. So I just acted real stupid when I emailed them and hopefully no more problems. We'll see.
