View Full Version : What should I do? (PlayStation 2 vs. Dreamcast)

It's real early and I just woke up but I wanna get this out on CAG before I have to leave for school. I may not make much sense... so sorry.

A couple days ago I bought a Dreamcast, ever since then, I have stumbled upon a few backups and imports. I also happened to magically locate an NES emulator package that I believe has every NES game. I'm in love with the Dreamcast....

Here's what I'm thinking about doing. I have a bunch (probably around 40) PS2 games that I won't play at at all, or if I do, I'm pretty sure I'll play them for a maximum of 5 minutes or so. Many are sealed. So I'm thinking about selling off every PS2 game I have unless I'm very interested in playing it.

Should I go the ebay route? Or should I use ebgames trade in bonus? I'll also offer the package on CAG but I want to make the most amount of money so I can actually buy real Dreamcast games, and also accessories (the Seaman bundle and the Broadband adaptor look especially appealing). Also, because I want to do this quickly, I want to sell off all the games at once, instead of splitting them up. You guys can check my list and tell me what you think I should do. Any advice would be appreciated.

Can the broadband adapter still be used? Is there a server set-up for the dreamcast?

I hear there are independant servers now.

Go the ebay route. Then you will have cash in hand to buy whatever.

EB store credit locks you in to their selection of games, which is pretty bad for the Dreamcast.

the BBA still works. There's homemade PSO servers, and i belive a few games like Quake 3 arena and Unreal go from person to person anyways.

As far as the PS2 games... check on which games you have that arnt pure crap, take those in to a Gamecrazy or Gamerush, if you dont have one of those, check what you would get at EB/GS.

If those prices dont interest you, try putting a few "themed" bundles on Ebay. You may make a bit more or a bit less depending on how you do it, but if you use Paypal your all set to turn around and buy DC games/acc. from ebay.

if you have a list of your sealed games that you're selling, I may be interested.

Hm... well see.. with ebgames, I would get the credit then buy PStwo's. PStwo's often go for more than retail on ebay... so I wouldn't be losing any money at all I don't think. Let's say I charge $19.99 shipping and handling with a buy it now of $169.99. The paypal/ebay/usps fees would be around $15 I think.

I do have GameCrazy, no GameRush. But see ebgames has a $10 bonus which might mean the world... and I would also keep some of the games... so.. I wouldn't trade in anything that I deem valuable.

Quake 3 will always be online since PC players can host the game.

PSO is still officially online in Europe, but we can play on Schtack's server. You can read more about it here - http://www.dreamcastersrealm.com/features/PSO_feature.htm.

You can download a free web browser here - http://www.psilocybindreams.com/

I would be putting up an auction similar to this one.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=31583&item=6944764 521&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

and it only got $4-something... I'm thinking eb would be a better idea.

Seaman is not worth it. No matter what it costs, it is too much.
