Two Xbox Rumors
The Xbox 2 gets named, and a new Killer Instinct
Two interesting Xbox-related rumors popped up on the web today. According to popular gizmo website Engadget, the official name for the next generation Xbox, often referred to as Xbox Next, Xbox 2, or Xenon, is actually "Xbox 360." According to Engadget, the name was test-marketed and a source working on the project has confirmed it to them.
Meanwhile, according to Total Video Games, a Conker: Live and Reloaded demo disc sent to retailers includes a brief promo image for a new Killer Instinct game, set to debut in "200X." A new KI installment has been rumored for some time.
When we inquired about both rumors, a Microsoft spokesperson refused comment.

hmmm... Sounds like a stupid name to me... And anyone think that KI would come out before Xbox 3?

The XBox 360 was posted on like Saturday or something.. but a new Killer Instinct would be AWESOME.

KI was one of my favorite games back in the day. Heck, we paid around $100 for the SNES version to get it before it released.

As long as it's not anything like KI Gold nor KI 2. I loved Killer Instinct (and still do). But those were not good sequels, IMO. I wouldn't mind an arcade perfect home version though. :twisted:

KI was one of my favorite games back in the day. Heck, we paid around $100 for the SNES version to get it before it released.
...and I bought mine for $3 at a thrift store. :)

i hate numbers in a game consoles name. i don't want to play halo360, the only numbers should be Ps2. PS3, that's it. no more N64 crap. Hell X2 would have been cooler

XBOX 360 still hasn't won me over since it was posted a few days ago, but a new KI would be nice, as I haven't played it before. Thanks for posting.

I have little faith in Rare anymore. I'm surprized MS hasn't just desolved Rare and sell off all their assets.

right, with their plethora of new and original game released so far. Lets name them, Grabbed By Ghoulies and soon Conker Live. Yeah they have shown their worth.
Oh yeah I didnt think anyone could have a worse name then Nintendo 21, but microsoft pleasantly suprised me with Xbox 360, lets hope both are incorrect.

Nintendo 21 is not the official name, and is most likely a hoax. Xbox 360 is supposedly based on market research. But hopefully neither name happens. And hopefully Conker will be good, Unlike Grabbing My Ghoulies.

As I posted on another topic, "Xbox 360" is a really stupid name.
As for a new KI game, I've never played any KI games, so I'm not that excited. I just hope Perfect Dark 0 turns out well.
I'd prefer Xenon or simply Xbox 2 or just X2 myself.
360 would be an odd choice for a name IMO, though I guess I'd like to see how the marketing spins it before passing judgement. I mean if you do a 360 you have turned completely around and are now going the same direction you started on. But I guess they'd use it to mean 360 degree full immersion gaming or something. Whatever.
