in two days my firewall has blocked three trojan horse attemts. one from NY, one from Seattle, and one from germany. im so happy. now i i could just figure out how to let CAG bypass it.
if my firewall is off, i get all links, but when its on, i only get some (like i got the first batchof overstock deals, but not the second, and also, i didnt get any of the gameboy things yesterday.)

We are working on a work around for that...
Some firewalls (are you using Norton) block out affiliate links.

my firewall annoyed the crap out of me so i disabled it, then my anti virus program started bugging me so i disabled it too...and now the wait for my system to get infected begins. i dont really care though, this things a 4 year old piece of junk ill just throw out in 2 months when i get my new laptop.

Anyone know how to get around a firewall? I live on campus at my university and they have a firewall that prevents me from simple online gaming (such as MSN's the Zone). It is a small liberal arts school so they fear getting virus' and having to spend lots of money on fixing things. Anything I can do?

i remember v had the same prob at my high school last year, all v did for it is switch ports in IE explorer. u go to internet options and settings or something, ours was listed as BORDERMAN 1-5 u just had to spend a little time checking which one would work that day. i think they fixed it this year though, i havent been able to go to check email, chat, etc. maybe ur college hasnt yet?

Everyone seems to be overlooking one of the huge benefits of Zone Alarm. It's great... and to top it off, it's free!

I love my hardware firewall. No need for it to boot up with Windows.

Yeah, but some of us just like extra security. There are hardware firewalls on both my wireless and wired routers, and Zone Alarm and McAffee on each of the machines in my house. I'm not going to be one of the schmucks broadcasting virii across the internet.

I <3 Zone Alarm for the fact that it has a verbose filter for what goes out of your machine as well. I have it set to ask me explicit permission any time one of my applications wishes to access the internet.

I had both and ZA is A LOT easier to configure, customize, etc
I love the fact that I can set what preferences I want for each page I visit. Example For CAG I show all the ads, but for other sites I block them all.

Norton can be free if you look in the right places and lack morals.

I downloaded the free trial of zonealarm and someone tried to hack my computer. It shut off my internet connection instanly AND it gave me their EXACT location (and a map), their names, phone numbers, which computer they were using (on a network), and a ton of other personal information.
But the trial only lasted 3 days.
