Disgaea - $40 at CC? (negative)

When CC had it's big 50% off sale, it seemed as though the only games not included were those listed on CC's website. If the same trend holds true for this week's 20-30% off sale, then Disgaea should be $40 this week (or even $35), as it's no longer listed on the website. I'm only speculating, but I would encourage anyone who's already planning to stop by a CC to do a price check and confirm if Disgaea is indeed 20-30% off.

EDIT: Sorry, guys, but it seems as though Disgaea is still $50.

btw, the store manager was basically calling me a crook b/c she couldn't find out how to do the $20 gc/sims thing in her computer. i was soooooooooo pissed, but bit back my pride so i could get the $20 gc. i was there for about an hour while she was calling other stores to verify this. i even showed her the ad and she said it was a misprint... if she were a guy, and i knew i could get away with it :evil: i woulda knocked her the fvck out.

I have been ordering from them for many years and they have excellent service. More reliable than EBgames IMO. I actually received a non-working used game from them before (EBgames).

If anyone in the Cincinnati area is looking for Disgaea, they had about 7-8 copies of it at the Circuit City across from the Eastgate Mall on Saturday night. I had them scan one (it came up $49.99) if I didn't already have the game, I would have still gotten it at that price.

lain21us: I got it when it came out and I (sadly) paid full price but it was worth every penny. If you like FF Tactics, then you'll probably like this one as well. I've heard the publisher Atlus only made something like 40000 copies available (figured this game won't sell very well) to the US market so this is a relatively rare game hence the expensive price tag. I dunno if that's true or not but I've been on the gamefaqs bbs and they seem to confirm it as well. I'm waiting for the other games made by the Disgaea developer Nippon Ichi: La Pucelle (actually released before Disgaea *no relation however* everywhere except the Western market) and Phantom Brave (same reason).

La Pucelle is being published by some obscure company from the West Coast called Big Dog or Mad Dog or something like that

You'll be kicking yourself, hard! if you do wait. Everyplace online is saying 1-2 days (which means they might not have it) or 1-2 weeks or backordered. I thought we had some in town. I ransacked all stores only to find nothing yesterday afternoon. If you can get a copy, damn! Your lucky (and I'm jealous). I am crossing my fingers that mine ships even though J&R says ships in 1-2 days.

I am trying to go today to Best Buy to pick one up. I have $15 in Best Buy Reward Zone Bucks (or whatever they are called) and will use the $5 off coupon, so, if they have it, I can get it for $30. But I doubt they have it. If not, I will just get it from Gamestop. (I saw they had it there) or EbWorld.

I think people should keep checking at CC. You'd think it would be lowered sometime soon, as the game has been out for quite a while. Last time I went to the local CC there were plenty of Disgaea copies there. If they cut it to $30 I'd buy it right away.

I doubt it's going to drop in price, unless it's just a local store. I'd be surprised to see a price drop on the title at this point, though stranger things have happened. this was released at the end of August last year, and not that many were made.

for all the times I've ever seen it, the cheapest I've seen it for is $45 used at EB Games. if you can pick it up for $35 and it's in good shape, do it ;)

I picked this one up a month ago at $50. I didn't want to wait for a price drop. I have a feeling if I don't get this game now, it will be hard to find later on.

i forgot to mention that they had a space channel 5 for dc, fear effect 2 and pokemon gold on clearance. they also had a game called "yanya caballista: city skater" for ps2. anybody ever heard of that? is it rare b/c i've never seen or heard of it before? it comes with this skateboard that you put over the controller... kinda weird.

I only placed one order from BuyRite ever, but I can say it went well. I bought Wachenroder for the Sega Saturn, only paid $30 when most other import stores were selling it for $50. The shipping was something like $6-7, though, which sucks.

They sell used games (no more than $35 from what I seen) and if a 'rare' game like Disgaea or Rez comes in, it could sit on there shelves for quite a while. I have seen a copy of Disgaea at their Downtown store at the beginning of the year but it's gone now.

Well, I got it cheaper a long time ago when it was first released. EBgames had a coupon that worked only on certain games. Disgaea was one of them. I checked back that afternoon, Disgaea was gone. Luckily I ordered ASAP that morning and received my copy (33% off).

I would say $50 is cheap for this game, now! I have a friend who had spent over 77 hours playing it in the first week he owned it (I saw his save). He thinks it's the best game ever.

Good luck. It looks like eBay may be your only source soon.

BTW, my copy I ordered from J&R got shipped. So, I can say J&R still appears to have it.

ok, i didn't want to post this until i actually did it. last week (i dunno if it's still good) CC had a promotion for the sims deluxe edition for PC. if you bought it for $19.99, you got a $20 gift card. i bought 3 of them and also bought disgaea for $50. i figured that i could sell the sims games on ebay and try to recoup some of what i spent, therefore getting those gift cards, and ultimately disgaea, for a discount.

well, i put 2 of them up for auction and they already sold for 15 and 16 bucks! that means i got those 2 gift cards for a total of $9 (minus the tax, paypal fees, etc)! therefore, i have one more sims game to sell and seeing how these 2 auctions went, i'm assuming it'll go for around $15.

-60 bucks for the 3 sims games
+46 for selling them on ebay
-50 for disgaea
+60 for CC gc's
= disgaea for 4 bucks

of course, i'm not counting in the taxes, paypal fees, ebay fees, etc. all in all, i got disgaea for around 10 to 15 dollars :D

edit: oh yea, i did go through a lot of trouble for those gift cards though. it seems like the head office didn't notify the individual stores on how to ring up the "free" $20 gc's, and i had to go to customer service counter to get them.

Any CC that I've been to has a few copies in stock, and judging from the vast amount of Rez's i've seen, I doubt they'll be sold. After a good long while, the knowledgable members of CC corporate will probably mark it down to 30. I'm going to stubbornly hold off.
