I've been thinking about getting a canon, but I hear that the printheads clog up easily and that you have to print something at least once a week to keep it from doing so. I also hear that generic ink will kill the printhead very fast.

I also hear that the printheads can die in just a couple months and printheads can cost more than the printer.

What are your canon printhead experiences? Thanks.

I have a super cheap ass Canon i320 printer that I bought for $30 after rebate. I've had it for a year or two and have had no problems whatsoever.
The ink is pretty cheap too.

Get a xerox phaser 8400.. oh man is this this cool. It actually replaced a couple cannon printers (and they were good little machines). No problems at all, and for the price its hard to beat.

Althought the xerox was free ( www.freecolorprinters.com )

I've been debating between getting a CANON or EPSON photo printer, so I'm interested in discussion.

The EPSON photo printers with the CD/DVD printing has me intrigued.

I have had a Canon S520 for about 3 years now. I use generic ink from www.tylermatrin.com and www.abacus24-7.com I have never had one problem at all. IMO Canons are the best printers out there. I went to Cali for a month, and when I came back there was zero problems with the printer. I say get one!

Also, even the Canon genuine ink is the cheapest out there.

I own a Canon i560. I bought it in Jan 04 from Sam's Club for $90. Couldn't be happier with it so far. I'm on my second set of ink tanks now. The first set was Canon brand and the second is generic. I can't really see a difference in the printing quality and haven't had any issues with the printer head. I don't print all that much, maybe a few B/W pages per month. I've printed roughly 150 color photos with it so far, of which about 100 were from my vacation last summer and thus done in bulk one weekend. I really like having 4 separate ink tanks since I tend to run out of yellow the quickest.
