It was only a matter of time I guess

No more Visual Concepts College Football and possibly no more College Basketball games if this happens :(

If anybody does NOT think that the NCAA is ruled by the almighty dollar, just looked at what happenned to Auburn (and lack of a real championship system)... nuff said

The corporate whore known as EA will soon have another monopoly it seems..

EA always had the NCAA Football crown, since Gameday sucked and VC gave up on ever having a good college football game. I do agree with the NCAA being money hungry, that's why we still have the broken BCS and questionable champions.

When will this end? Just sell the whole world to EA.

No more Visual Concepts College Football

You're about two years late, they haven't made a NCAA Football game for sometime now. Hopefully this is just a rumor or at least only effects football, because the VC college basketball is usually a little bit better (though lately it has been close).

I meant to post this story earlier. And to all of you nay-sayers, every new announcement is more condemning of your beloved EA. I remember when the NFL exclusivity was announced and someone mentioned fears of the NCAA going next, people were oh so anxious to say,"An NCAA buyout is impossible because of this, and because of that, yadda, yadda..." I'm getting so tired of fan-boys making claims they know nothing about on behalf of their beloved system/favorite company. It's obvious that EA wants to own the whole world, they have even stated so in an open news conference. Wake up to the real world. They are going to grab everything they can get their talentless hands on until someone stops them.

You might want to re-read the article. It clearly states that this is a rumor and has not been confirmed. Until it has please stop with your ddoomsday scenarios.

I'm just tired of Electronic Arts trying to buy the rights to everything! They believe they're the only one's that are entitled to publish sports games!...:bomb:

Oh, grow up! I know exactly what it says. But this is the same type of garbage you attempt to spin with everytime a new announcement is made by EA, whether an acqusition, and attempted hostile takeover, or a press conference with the main theme being that they blatantly state that they want to buy everything up. No one can convince you, you are a fanatic, we realize this. I am not saying anything of a doomsday. I am just saying that EA, themselves, have stated that they don't ever plan on stopping this recent trend.

EA can buy up half of the gaming industry and the naysayers will still find reason to deny and disagree. You shouldn't even acknowledge them since every piece of news about another EA takeover is another nail in the coffin of their arguments.

The fact is the "doomsayers" predicted that EA would gobble up sports gaming and they are half way there already. Don't be surprised when EA has sole rights to almost every major sports genre/name within the next couple years.

Clearly you are missing the point when people post comments that differ from what you want to hear so I am going to lay it out very simply for you to understand what most of the people who are being labeled as "EA fanatics" are saying:

None of us are saying that what EA is doing is good for the gaming industry. We just think that some of you are blowing things out of proportion. The fact is that companies have been coming and going from the gaming industry for a long time. Also companies have enjoyed periods on top of the industry followed by them fading from power. Nintendo was the top dog for a long time but they are fading. Sega was near or at the top for a while but they are only a shell of what they used to be. The point is that EA is doing well in the industry now, but things can change pretty fast. Nintendo and other companies did a lot of the same things that EA is getting criticized for now to get on top. Yeah it might suck, but these things are realities of the business world. The main point is that it's annoying to constantly read about how shitty EA is when other companies are doing similar things.

The reason I posted what I did earlier was because it is just rumor at this point, not to mention the fact that EA is the only company who even made a NCAA football game last year. I also would like to point out that even if you absolutley despise EA, you have to admit that they do a very good job with their sports games. Not everything they produce is complete crap like you claim. There is a reason that Madden has been the top football game for so long, EA has put out a good football game for a long time.

If this comes true I'm going to quit buying sports games after MVP 2005. Crap like this has already ruined the best baseball game and a damn good football game.

That anyone still buys sports game these days period annoys me. I hope EA does buy out everything, serves the idiots consumers right.

My only concern is that since sports games are such a freaking cash cow that EA then gets to do things like they are to do to Ubisoft.

Every time one of you people buys Madden again, think about that.
