Yeah I heard, it will have 1019 blocks of memory. I think they should have had this from the beginning. I just hope its not ridiculously priced. I will pick one up because right now I am switching between two 251's all the time since some games only like slot A.

Who actually needs that? I have 2 3rd party 59's and I'm fine for right now.

I am going to go ahead and guess people with a lot of games that need to be saved will need this memory card. Just a hunch though.

I have 8 official cards.
4 x 59 and 4 x 251.
I bought one just for Ikaruga, but then realized that it would be sad if it would have no friends on the same Memory Card :(, so I moved it to one that has a couple of other good games :)

Some games take a big save, two of my games, BG&E and Hitman 2 require 55 blocks and 59 blocks respectively. Some games have multiple games on one disc. I have 26 or so games for the cube and add to that the games I have rented. With some of the games requiring big saves I am on my second 251.
I think this is especially necessary for the sports games, the fact that sports games will take an entire card themselves is reason enough for a bigger card. Also the new sims games takes around 150 blocks I believe.

The Sims Bursting out takes up 169, and sport games take up even more. Beyond Good and Evil takes up 55 and I was shocked about that. I only have 77 blocks left, so this thing better come out soon.

Third party memory cards suck ass. I wouldn't want my 2000+ hours of PSO corrupted to save a few bucks.

According to EBgames' website, the release date is 6/8. We'll see if it's out then. I really need a new card.

The funny thing is is that the cards are in the same casing as the 59 cards. They mustve had left over stock of the old cards and just swapped them out. You can see a video of it on the new sampler disc which should be at most stores with a demo cube on the floor.

I have 8 GCN games. I can fit MAYBE four or five saves onto the one card I have right now.
This is one reason why I only have 8 GCN games, compared to the 30+ PS2 and nearly 50 Xbox games. I refuse to bend over for Nintendo.

I bought a 3rd party interact 16x card a year and a half back for 20 bucks, used. It's been dunked underatwer, nd slammed on the ground to the point where the casing shattered and I actually had to duct tape it bac on. Guess what, it still works. No save losses whatsoever. It's worth the 20 bucks to not have to worry about five or six memory cards. Just make sure you keep your backups on your old cards if you're that worried about the data.

I have the Nyko 8MB (aka 64Mb) card and no problems yet. Seems very reliable for $20.

Well guess what? I got that exact card as a gift from a grandparents, and it stopped working just because. 16 games out of my 45, *lost*. At least I as able to salvage some of them by moving them to Nintendo cards, but the card as it is is useless now.

27 GC games, I'm not bending over for anyone I'm just buying the cheap and decent games. I only have one card... I think if I had THIS one I probably would never need another..which would be counter productive I'd think.
Sony and thebigN are supposed to make money on selling these things so it makes more sense for them to sell cards that are just slightly too small for all your games forcing you to buy a second or third.
I have like 8 PSone cards, One of them was a nyko 8x card but won day all but one of the pages DIED for no reason, lucky thing I only used it for back ups. I have 3 PS2 cards (but I also have the HDD to store stuff on.) The reason Sony hasnt allowed people to save directly to the HDD is to get people to keep buying cards but as long as I can move saves I probably wont need another now.

Sounds good. I just saw on Walmart's site they have the same 64MB card for $16. and change. The only thing is there charging shipping. C.C. has it for $25 and no shipping. It is a little cheaper at Walmart and will save me gas and time running around through internet shopping.

wasnt Nintendo supposedly (at some point) working on some sort of ultra storage advice to take up that last gamecube expansion port in the bottom?

A hard drive type device would be nice for the Gamecube, but I dont think that Nintendo was ever planning one.
They were planning a huge SD memory card, but it never saw the light of day.

i've had an 3rd party mad catz 8x memory card for quite some time now. and a 4x, mad carz "garentees" no memory loss. But if it does get erased... they only replace the card, not the saves... but i've not have problems at all. got a pelican 4x mem card as a gift, and i have to say that was freaken bunk... erased my mario sunshine (almost all shines and blue coins) my wind waker! my melee bros. ff:CC and countless others... ack.. bottom line, not too psyched bout the new 16x. higher end 3rd parties are doing just fine. although it makes your cube look alot more "authentic" and more "collectible"

The only thing you should be careful about when using those cards is copying files over to normal 1st party gc memory cards. If a large quantity of saves are being transferred, theres a possibility of the copy process getting locked up, and you losing all the files on it. Otherwise, theyre pretty reliable.

3rd party whatever blows. [god damn action replay memory card] cant even use my action replay cause the mem card says its always corrput, and dont want to mess up my 251 with the AR.
3rd party is wack.

I don't like third party cards either, but I'm already pissed with my 1019. Popped in PSO once i got it and the game doesn't even recognize it. Everything else works fine, but I was hoping to not have to jump back and worth between cards and now I still have to anyway.

I just bought a 128 MB card off of ebay, it has 2043 blocks. It was like $17 with shipping and should be great for ncaa 2005 and other sports games that take up a lot of memory.
