Are there any mousepads that you guys recommend? I've been using the same cloth pad with a T-Rex on it for about 13 years. I'd like a new mousepad but most of the gaming pads seem to be made out of hard plastic which I don't like. I want it to be comfortable to use. I was thinking of getting one of the cloth pads shown here. http://www.xtracpads.com/products.htm The HYBRID looks interesting. What do you guys think?

If you can find an original copy of Max Payne on PC for extremely cheap, it comes with a mousepad. I've been using it for years. The Hybrid looks pretty cool, though. You have an optical mouse?

What type of pad did Max Payne come with? It seems like most free pads are pretty cheesy.
Yeah, I have a Logitech iFeel MouseMan. I'm also planning to get the MX510.

Damn, I thought I was the only one who still used that thing. I've had that Max Payne mousepad for what seems like an eternity. It's still holding up well.

I'm still using the Max Payne mousepad myself. I think it's a smooth cloth surface on top of a foam rubber base. It's pretty good for a giveaway mousepad.

Got me a Func 1030 gaming surface whatever that's supposed to mean. Two surfaces one smooth and other textured. Nice base as it doesn't move around a lot and it's large, too.

The Func 1030 gaming surface is plastic, right? I do not like texured surfaces because that means the surface is rough. I would think that would wear a mouse out faster.

Just make sure to buy it cheap. Mousepads are insanely expensive and they are usually very small.

Why do you need a mousepad for optical mouses? (i dont see the need at least). And if you dont have optical, go optical.

My mouse won't work on a pad that isn't optical. Optical mice need a specially designed surface that will reflect the laser efficiently.

I have one of these - its nice and all, but the whole "precision mousepad" stuff that gets pushed is really just a bunch of hype. Its about $10, so overall its fairly inexpensive and it looks good.

Indeed. Go optical -that way you won't need a pad, but you could use almost any flat surface (say, whatever magazine you have handy).
Or you could try these:

Yep, it's plastic. You can flip the surface.....one side is very smooth (the side I use) and the other side has a bit of texture. I've been using it for over a year now and like it very much. Big surface and thin too.

That is good advice... but I think it's kind of a YMMV deal.

Yeah I guess, and I bet it will be rare/valuable one day since it looks like a mouse was chewing on it, and not to forget the oil stain in it :D
