View Full Version : Old-School TMNT: Volumes 1-5 DVD $9.28 each at DDD

It cost $9.28 with free shipping at DDD:
Volume 5 (http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=LGE019850)
Volume 4 (http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=LGE019123)
Volume 3 (http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=LGE018307)
Volume 2 (http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=LGE017400)
Volume 1 (http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=LVD011913)
Volume 4 comes out early next month and it looks to comprise the next 12 episodes of Season 3 (episodes #31-42). Volume 3 kind of released under my nose, but it came out last week and fans can grab it for a very nice and cheap price. This seems to only be first part of Season 3 (12 episodes), but for the price, it's not a bad thing. So this set comprises episodes #19-30.
The first volume includes in addition to the 5 episodes from season one, 4 never-seen episodes from later in the series, episodes 187, 188, 191, and 192. The second volume includes the next 13 episodes, #6-18.
Thanks to darkcrawlspace for pointing out a cheaper deal on Seasons 1 & 2. Thanks to BasketCase1080 for the heads up on the 4th volume's release.
Enjoy.

Yeah, their full seasons. Oddly enough the first season was only 5 episodes, and the second season was 13 episodes.
Check out how long the rest of the seasons are:

I saw Turtles season 1 at Best Buy today... i think it was around $12. I remember seeing a sticker saying it included 7 bonus never been aired before episodes... I almost picked it up along with Saved by the Bell (Season 1-4)... but held off in the end.
Spending the money instead for Brother in Arms on 3/27... only $25 after GGC.

It's part of the 2 for $15 sale at BB, so you can grab another DVD with it for only $15.

So is it 5 or 5+7=12 episodes for season 1?

First release is the full Season 1 (very few episodes). The second release coming out in April is not the full season 2. Its the next 13 episodes. Season 2 had around 50-something episodes (see TVTOME.COM). They were originally releasing the full 2nd season, but cut it down (probably because its a kids release and they needed to get a lower cost).

Season one just has 5 eps.
It's 4 extra episodes, and those are much further in the show's storyline. I tried to watch them, but it was just too confusing since I didn't see or know of the storyline leading up to them.

Okay, so I'm a little confused as well. It has the first five episodes on the disc? The very first five? Then, it has four later episodes in the series too? Or, does it have the original episode + four farther along in the story? Why would they put four eps on the disc that wasn't technically part of the first season?
Sorry if I am being confusing. I just want to get this right, so I can head out to BB and pick it up...

The TMNT Season One DVD had the first five episodes on there. Then as a bonus feature they added episodes 187, 188, 191, and 192 on the dvd and called them "4 Never Before Seen Bonus Episodes." I think they did that just to make up for the fact that their was only 5 episodes in the first season.
And the entire 2nd season actually is 13 episodes.
Check: http://www.tvtome.com/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles_1987/eplist.html
The next few seasons of the show were the extremely long ones. Hope that helped. Or atleast didn't add to the confusion.

They need some better quality on these TMNT sets. They cram too many episodes onto one disc. I'd pay a few bucks more for better compression.

I might as well get em anyways. I doubt we will see any better release on these as well. Bummer on the compression problems. Wish these studios would realize that some of us (like myself) are sick of seeing badly authored/mastered DVDs released with the studios hoping that nobody will care since "its on DVD so it should be good to go" type of attitude.

Garfield and Friends have 24 episodes in each pack. It's not two seasons it's just 24 episodes at a time.
The way TMNT is doing it there will be about 30 DVDs.
And next season they are coming out with a new new Turtle. it's going to be part of the new one but like spunoff so it takes place 100 years into the future where aliens rule the earth.
No that's not a joke.

I never said it was 2 seasons. It's a thinpack with more than just a few episodes on a single disk and for a reasonable price (I paid about $20 for each of my 5 volumes).
I mentioned 2 seasons for TMNT because there are so many episodes. Otherwise it would take an eternity for them to all get released.
