Rumor Control Linky (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/action/starcraftghost/news_6118466.html)

Seems like Diablo 3 will finally be in development. Oh God, please hold this rumor true and no longer will there be a C&C game on the DS, kind of good (I really dislike EA) but kind of bad because I was really hoping to see how an RTS game would look on the DS.

Again sorry mods and whoever else if this is a repost but I'm pretty sure it isn't because I didn't see this posted anywhere.

To a certain extent, the DS touchscreen can be viewed as a solution looking for a problem. That an RTS would be an ideal problem for that solution is likely to occur to anybody in the RTS business. I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a flood of RTS games on DS within two years of launch. A lot will be mediocre but that is just Sturgeon's Law.

I'm anticipating a large flood as well. It's almost to say common sense for any game designer to think of an RTS for the DS when they have always had trouble creating a portable RTS game (only few have bridged the gap in the previous generation, Advance wars and various RPG RTSes). It would be nice to see Blizzard to come out of its RTS retirement and make one for the DS even if it be a remake of the original StarCraft or Warcraft.

It's also possible a small company like Majesco or Crave could license the big names in PC RTS and produce DS versions. This has brought a lot of titles to console whose originators weren't interested but are perfectly happy to collect royalties while someone else takes all of the risk.

Its sad we wont see C&C DS, but I would rather play it on my computer then on my DS.

Advance Wars is turn-based, not real-time. Am I the only person ready for a full-featured RTS to appear on a REAL console? Maybe I should just shut up and follow through on my HTPC. Anyhoo.

You got me on that one, Advance Wars is truly a turn based RTS, but it's basically the closest thing we have to a real RTS at the moment. Plus it almost feel like one with how fast things can go sometimes.
