So, I just got a new computer and its running Win XP Proffesional.
I tried to install Starcraft on it, but when I put the CD in the CD drive nothing happens. It won't autorun. I go to my computer and its there, so its reading it but nothing happens. What should I do? Does anyone have a similar experience?
Thanks for any help in advance.

maybe its not compatible with XP, since it came out a long time ago

Maybe it could be that your XP version already includes that awful Service Pack 2 that makes some games unplayable.

I never installed Service Pack 2, and when I click on the My Computer Properties it doesnt say which version I have...is there any other way to tell?

start, control panel, system or performance and maintenance then system.
It will come up with your current configuration and if service pack 2 is installed it will say windows XP Pro with SP2

Yeah, it doesn't say SP2 so I assume I don't have it, but it doesn't say SP1 either...

It wouldn't say SP1, because XP was the original Service Pack.

Also have you tried right clicking the CD drive, going to explore, and finding the install file? sometimes that works too.

Its probably just a case of the autorun blues. Starcraft works with SP2 and SP1. If its not running when you stick the CD in, you might have your comp. setup to not autorun disks. If this is the case, simply open Windows Explorer and double-click the CD, that would start the autorun process. If that doesn't work, make sure that your CD/DVD drive is still good, and that your Starcraft CD doesn't have any scratches or anything on it. Finally, if nothing else works, you can do a manual install.
Try First:
Locate Install.exe on the CD- Run It
Locate Starcraft.exe on your PC- Run It
Try Last:
Copy all files from your Starcraft CD to your HD in your default drive (C: for most) and stick it in a folder called Starcraft.
Locate Install.exe on your HD- Run it
Locate Starcraft.exe on your PC- Run it
If none of that works, the issue is probably having to do with your Hardware.
