As most of you know, soundtracks for video games are usually edited for content. EA Games tends to go ultra-whacko conservative, editing out any sort of implied violence or mischief, as well as the standard cussing edits. But I found this one particularly amusing... in NBA Street v3, during House of Pain's "Jump Around," we are treated to the following:
cream of the crop, I rise to the top
...[long pause where the pig/cop line should be]...
or better yet a terminator, like Arnold Schwarzenegger
tryin' to play me out like as if my name was ...[BLANK]
DAMN YOU EA, TAKING SEGA AWAY FROM THE NFL JUST WASN'T ENOUGH, WAS IT?!?!?! (in case anyone didn't get it, the BLANK space was where "Sega" should have gone)
heh... well it makes sense, MTV does that sort of thing all the time (blurring out logos that haven't paid for any advertising and whatnot). Sega is EA's direct competitor so it's normal, though annoying, to remove such a reference. I'm sure I'm not the first to notice this, but I just thought it was pretty funny in light of all the recent EA/Sega football business. Woo-hoo, bring on the fanboy riots!

Well, i noticed that Kid Rock had to change some of his songs
I have the old school disc Polyfuze Method, and he uses some Country Singers name (i forget now....slipping my mind)
And, on the History of Rock CD....the name was edited out.........maybe some lawsuit, who knows.
EDIT: It was Billy Ray Cyrus that was scratched over

It'd be better if they used a generic voice saying "Electronic Arts" to fill the blank. Much like in the Simpsons, where Krusty introduces his good friend "Mr. Black".

I think it was in Tony Hawk 3, they edited out the word Playstation 2 in Redman's "lets get dirty"....or maybe I'm just thinking it was different...or something of the sort....can anybody back me up with this?

It was there in the PS2 version, but absent in the XBox version. Never played the cube/pc editions so I can't comment on them

I can see their point. Hearing the word "Sega" in a 15 year old song that almost everyone who is going to be playing NBA Street already knows the words to would probably fill me with an uncontrollable urge to go out and buy everything I could get my hands on from Sega and not buy another EA product ever again. Good move.

That happened in Tony Hawk 3 on XBOX...in a Redman song "Let's Get Dirty" he says "similiar to the new playstation 2." Well they bleep out Playstation 2 in that line.

I didn't think sponsors made the jerseys till FIFA '03, and by that time Arsenal's prime sponor was O2. EA does a lot of trimming of sponsors that they don't agree with, be it FIFA or NASCAR where both are pretty prevelent.

WTF? I have to say this is the funniest of video game mishaps. Everyone and their mother knows the words to the song. I wonder could the artist they do this to sue for EA messing with their copyrighted material.

as i already said in this thread, this is hysterical IMO...some people seem to be a little bit too bitter still about the whole licensing ordeal to realize how funny this is....i have yet to play this game, but i know the song...and you left out the best part of the hit on sega...the line after:
"tryin to play me out like as if my name was SEGA"
goes
"but i aint goin out like no punk bitch"
if thats not saying that sega went out like a punk bitch, then i dont know what is

No its is a very smart move, cause I can't tell you how many times I heard a product named in a song and I immediatly ran out to buy it!
Thank you EA from saving me from buying everything that has the word Sega on it!

i doubt they took it out because they were afraid to create sales for Sega....for all i know, they might not have been aloud to say Sega in their game without Segas permission....please note the "for all i know" and don't act like im acting like i know what im talking about with that
anyways, why would you mention your competitor in your product? it just wouldn't make sense....it was a direct tear in Segas ass in my opinion and thats all it was

Played the game some more and the edits in general are pretty crazy. Jump Around, appropriately enough, jumps all over the place... how 'bout this one:
"I'll serve [pause] like John McEnroe, if I got more rhymes then the Bible's got psalms."
It sounds pretty retarded!
Plenty of gaps in the Beastie Boys song too. They edit "fight and cuss," "hell," etc. A lot of games are like this! I've never played the GTA games but I was wondering, do they go ballistic editing the songs in that one? Because that would be pretty ironic. My brother was telling me about some M-rated game where they still insisted on editing the word "kill" out of all the songs. I can understand them bleeping the cuss words but they really go overboard here; not even MTV is this bad!

maybe it was sega's idea not to have their name mentioned in the song since it's in ea's game.
