View Full Version : Is Donky Konga any fun as single player???

I've been tempted by this since it came out, but I don't have anyone to play it with. I know, I know--with a game like this, people would want to play.....But realistically, it just isn't going to happen. The friends I have just have ZERO interest in gaming (or for sitting at home for that matter).

So, the question is, is Konga any fun for just a single player, or do you really need a group atmosphere for this one? I've avoided Super Smash Brothers and Mario Party, now I need to know if I should avoid Donkey Konga.

Thanks!!!!!!

The reason i avoided DK was it would turn into a money pit. i would want to get another controller so someone could play with me, and by then i spent around $80 and have an extra bongo that would get hardly used. if i found a deal on this i might do it, but for now i'm staying away.

It's pretty fun with just one player, especially if you have an affinity for rhythm-based games. The only problem is that it's way too easy and a lot of the songs are just plain awful.

If you have the option, pick up Taiko Drum Master instead... it's more challenging, feels more like actual drumming, and has a better song list.

This is officially my first post, BTW. :)

Donkey Konga does have a new game coming out March 14th called Jungle Beat, which is a side scroller (plaftorm-esque game), so I believe that is built more for a One player experience.

It's fun 1-player, although the limited number of songs makes it too soon when you are doing the same ones again. Even more fun 2-player. Maybe try the 1-player in a store or something and see if it's interesting enough for purchase.

thanks for the replies guys

I guess I'll wait until Jungle Beat comes out and see if that's a good enough game to warrant purchasing both

thanks

Waiting for Jungle Beat is definitely the move.

I pickup Donkey Konga for $30 running GR promtion trade-in 3 game & get $20 off. Hope, i'll pickup Donkey Jungle beat w/ Bongo for cheap (in that case i don't have to spend extra $30 for BOngos ;)

Also, Donkey Kong Konga 2 & 3 coming soon later this year ;)

I've played DK by myself a few times with my son watching (too young to play, but loves music). It's pretty fun even though alot of the songs are horrible. I haven't played it a whole lot, but I have enjoyed it so far. It helps though that my son is there screaming at the TV. :D

Konga is ok, but Jungle Beat is so damn cool. They should have them set up at GS/EB kiosks as of last week.

I bought it and thought it sucked. It just wasn't fun and the novelty wore off very quick. I don't have many gamer friends, so 99.9% of the time I'm playing solo. It may be funner with more people, but I thought playing solo was a bore.

Not for me it wasn't. If you have 3 or 4 people it'd be worth it.
