I'm in the market for a nice LCD monitor. I came across this one (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-4042) at bensbargains and it looks like a good deal for $249.
I know close to nothing about these monitors, so can anyone give me input about it. is this monitor compatible with composite or s-video? is it a good deal for $249?
thanks in advance.

I have this monitor and love it. It has DVI and analog but no S Video or Composite connections. The lowest I can get the price at is $279 and not the $249. I must be doing semething wrong.

OK, i see. In order to use the $30 off coupon you must pad your cart with something cheap, like this $9 NIC. Brings the cost of the NIC and monitor to $258.51.

i don't have a Fry's near me, and this is supposedly the ultrasharp which means high quality. i want to see if anyone else has used these and if its a good deal.

Buy it. I bought my wife the crappy analoge only version of this monitor last year for $262 shipped and even that one has a gorgeous picture. I have the 1901FP from them with the DVI input and I am completely satisfied. Do yourself a favor and order it RIGHT NOW!

DVI is a completely digital video input as opposed to the old VGA 15-pin analog input. If your video card has a DVI port, use that with the monitor instead of the VGA. Your picture quality will be better because the signal your computer is feeding your monitor is purely digital... with the VGA connector the monitor has to do some digital to analog conversion.
Having said that, today's flatpanels look better and better when you are forced to use the VGA input... especially at sizes like 17". So if you only have VGA outputs, buy the monitor anyway!

DVI = Digital Video Interface
If you have a video card that has a DVI connector it makes it all digital..
SWEET Picture
Basic Info About DVI (http://www.ddwg.org/dvi.html)
Hope that helps,

I have the 15" version of this monitor and I absolutely love it. It has both analog and DVI connections but I am currently using the analog as my video card is crap and doesn't have DVI output. DVI stands for Digital Video Interface. Connecting a video card with DVI ouput to a DVI-capable monitor results in a very sharp picture. This is because when the digital video signal is sent from the video card, it does not have to be converted to analog (as is the case with a CRT monitor), it is received exactly as it was sent.
The other advantage to the UltraSharp models (besides DVI) is that they have response times of 12ms which is recommended for gaming. Supposedly anything under 16ms is good for gaming since you will have less issues with "ghosting" while playing a game.
For that price, I would jump on that monitor in a heartbeat. I paid just a little less than that for my 15".
EDIT: Beat to the punch - twice!

Is there anyway to hook a console up to it?
Also, I am thinking about buying a mac mini, and i need a monitor, so this looks like a good deal. just though i'd ad that.
