Is RE0 as good as RE (GCN)?

I've somewhat enjoyed RE on the GCN (my first RE game) and I'm wondering if I would also enjoy RE0. I plan on getting RE4 eventually.... like whan it drops to $20 ....

Conventional wisdom (gamerankings.com, metacritic.com) is that it's not as good but that it's much better than 2, 3 and Veronica X.

If you liked REmake, you'll probably like Zero as well. It lets you drop items anywhere and swap characters on the fly, but the story isn't as fleshed out as other installments in the series. For $15 or less, you could certainly do a lot worse.

I'm probably one of the few who didn't like the REmake all that much. I thought 0 was worth a playthrough, and 4 is just awesome. 4 is worth the $50.

i never played any before i bought REmake, but i like REmake.

WHAT?! Its not better than RE2! RE2 is second best SURVIVAL HORROR game of all time. Least at the time, it might not have as big an impact on u if u play it now since the graphics are archaic.

RE0 was alright, not bad, the dropping items thing was kinda annoying cuz if u dropped a really important item it'd take like a while to backtrack and find it. I did like the characters though. Billy was badass mutha #$%^er. And rebecca.... Geh. In turns of gameplay its exactly like RERemake which is alright.

Well I agree I just wanted to see what you thought because I disagree with your number two, so I figured I would disagree with your number 1, however RE4 is a good choice. I'm not Jack Bauer, and don't ever bad mouth him again, you can bad mouth me as much as you want but leave Jack out of it.

RE0 is great, but the REmake is so much better, just, the scenary and characters are better, but RE0 is certainly a great one.

Coming from an RE veteran, you can trust my word. ;)

As a huge RE fan myself, I will provide my input here.

RE 0 in my opinion is definitely not as good as RE remake. It does contain certain features such as tag team + item drop, but overall the in-game feeling just isn't as great as RE remake. The unbelievable visual and shadow effect in remake is by far the greatest pre-render game of all time in my opinion (graphically speaking). Also, I was very disappointed when I see Billy and Rebbecca encounter enemies such as drugged up monkey or ... a freaking frog? The overall feeling is just not as great.
But does RE 0 worth 14.99? I would say yes. The game itself is still superior compare to many crappy survivor horror games out there.

And to the prior posts... the greatest RE game of all time - I really have to leave RE4 out of this because it feels so different...... RE4 is in its' own universe :) so for rest of the REs in the series -

I must given the vote to Resident Evil 2 on playstation. The first one was definitely a revolutonary game, but imagin' RE2 not only has to live up the standard that the first RE set, it was also packed with more features, characters, reverse ending game play, bunch secrets and mini games... RE2 re-defined what the first one was missing. Plus, it's always harder to make a sequel as great (if not better) compare to the original hit.

Btw, does brand new sealed RE zero NON - PC worth anything? I saw few copies and wonder if i should get it.... I got rid of my PC version not long ago......

IMO, REmake is far superior. RE0 isn't all that bad, just not as good.
