Okay so my free 2 mo. is almost up and I'm sick of using these free codes, so I think I'm just going to call and cancel and when they offer me my free game take it. However I'm not sure what games they offer any more. Does anybody know? Last time I called (about 6 mo. ago) It was Mechassualt, Project Gotham Racing, and Crimson Skies.

What free game? What are you talking about? I've never heard of them sending anyone any free games for staying with Live.

Instead of trying to be funny, you guys could actually try to help the OP or not post at all.

I don't know if they have that policy currently going on...I thought it was only for a limited time last year. You could always call and ask if they are offering any incentives for continuing your subscription.

It seems like it makes sense that they would send you a game since a 12 month starter kit comes with a free game. If they don't offer it then whats the point of continuing a 2-month trial? I think Crimson Skies is still the game you'd get. There really isn't another major live game thats old enough to bundle, unless they update Project Gotham to the sequel. Good luck!

with XBOX live being so popular, I don't think they need to give free games to keep u on live anymore....

But my 2 months end next week. I'm going to call and cancel. if no free game.. fine then... I'll just use another 2 months card.... and make another membership.

I have been using 2 months card ever since xbox live was out... yep I'm a CAG... $50 I don't pay for live, could be anotehr game or 2 added to my collection each yr.

unless you care about gamer tag stats...

I thought you needed a new CC each time around.

That's actually a good point. I know you can have at least two accounts using the same CC (my roomate and I both use my CC) but I wonder what the maximum is before they start to get suspicious.

Well I have gone through two 3 months card, about seven or eight 2 months card. I have been canceling a day before your expire date or they will charge you. there might be a limit, But I have 3 different CC...

so if I ever hit it, I will let you guys know.

When I called in to cancel late last year the guy practically begged me to keep it - and yes, that included offering me a free game. When I asked him what free game, they were all games that go for around $20 now, and all the good ones I already had (Crimson Skies was one of them). Dunno if they'd offer you anything for just canceling a 2-month trial tho.

According to an official FAQ on xbox.com you can keep doing Live trials indefinitely. There may be a limit to the number of CURRENT subs you can have on one CC, but according to the site you can keep doing one trial after another as long as you like. You just have to keep changing your tag and losing your friends list. Plus, I guess if you ever forget to cancel a trial you get auto-subbed and charged.

I found the FAQ page for another thread on here a while ago couldn't find it just now with a bit of googling and poking about xbox.com, so I guess it's possible they've changed the policy. But I doubt it. I'll try to dig it up again if I get motivated. :)

With a free trial, you don't get to use a headset. Is this much of a problem? I have a couple of free trial cards I'd like to use, but I'm worried that Xbox Live is too dependent on the headset, and I don't want to buy a headset just to try it out.

nah you don't really NEED a headset, but it really makes it more fun. There's lots of people on XBL with no headset. Just try it out, you've got the free-trials and nothing to lose. Its free! Just cancel your account when the 2 months is up.

Oh I have a head set, I picked up one from ebgames for $15.

I would say it's a must, because pinpointing a battle plans is kinda hard without one. & smack talking to your opponets after a game is a blast.

You guys don't have to call and cancel your subscription. You can do it through the account management menu on the xbox dashboard.

Not likely to be offered a free game that way, though.

A headset isn't required, but it does work with free trials.

I just called and cancelled my XBL subscription today (from a 2 month trial) and there was no offer for a free game, as you seem to indicate that there should have been.

You don't even have to call AFAIK. To cancel, can't you just hit "Unsubscribe" on you Xbox dashboard?

Oh, yes, I should have been clearer. A headset does work, but what I meant was that a free trial doesn't come with a headset, so you can't use one unless you buy it separately.

Um I never said they were still doing it, but they have done it, sorry you weren't offered a free game, but I can't really do anything about that.

Yes the same thing happens to me too. I've never been able to cancel from the dashboard.
