View Full Version : Xbox shortage in your area (too)??

Dunno whether this has been kicked around in these parts of late, but it seems as though there's a bit of a supply shortage of the Xbox console in my area (Fort Wayne, Ind.). Retailers are saying they have none and/or can't get enough from their supplier(s).
I'm sure a diehard gamer can still snag a new, unopened one if he/she beats the bricks, but I have been hearing of demand far outstripping supply since the holidays... for example, around here the usual haunts like Target, Toys R Us, Wal-Mart and others all report none in stock.
Sure, I can understand there might be occasional supply lapses, but this seems unusually pronounced and widespread. For example, my local Toys R Us had them featured in the Sunday flier this week (regular price, of course), but reported getting only 4 (count em) from its supplier. The clerk even told me there was a line outside the store at opening Sunday (today actually) for the few that came in)!
A local Wal-Mart also reported getting 4 today but said they disappeared as quickly as they arrived and that they have been getting scarce.
So ... there it is, CAGers: Is this but an isolated quirk or more national in scale...??!!
:D

Pretty much the same from what I've seen around here in Tulsa, OK. Couple of my friends work at Gamestops and they say they are getting calls all the time asking for them but they havent been able to get any in.

Slidecage keeps buying them and keeps forgetting he already has one.
//edit all kidding aside, yes. XBoxes, PS2, and GC bundles are hard to come by around here.

Nope I was at Wal Mart the other day and they had 12, I haven't exactly been looking for em, but I don't believe there's a shortage.

Here is some info on the consoles/handhelds at the Wal-Mart I work at. 0 PStwo, about 8 Gamecube, 10-20 Nintendo DS, 0 XBOX.
Something I found out a few weeks ago is that we have about 5 or 6 of the PSone/LCD combos locked up in the electronics security room. They are priced at $150 :(

Right after Christmas I had a hell of a time trying to find an Xbox. Plenty of PS2s and Gamecubes around, but not an Xbox in the whole city.
About a week later I called one of the local Gamestop's in the morning to see if they had gotten a shipment in, and they got something like 4, and were able to hold one for me to pick up later that day.
Pretty crazy, though I do think the Xbox is a nice console.

It's mostly about the same here in seattle. My local FYE had 7 pstwo's. Too bad my trade stock has been diminished and used my credit on anime mostly.
I know department stores are having one hell of a time keeping PS2 and Xbox in stock.

I also picked up a CameCube Bundle with mario cart for Christmas, even tho I have 1 at home already.... it was just 1 awsome ass bundle.
All 3 system was sold out during the christmas rush. but it looks like the GC isn't doin so well now.

My EB had a couple new Xboxes, I snagged one. None of mine had any used or refurbs... Wanted to save a couple bucks and pick the type of DVD drive I was getting. Luckily I got a version 2 Phillips drive, probably the best around.

Take an hour drive to Bryan, OH. I think we still have quite a few Xbox's and PStwos. Gamecubes are a little short in supply though

Around here, there are quite a plenty of GameCubes in stock, and bundles here and there. I've seen some new slim PS2s around at the local EB, but none have any Xboxes in stock, except when my a friend of mine just traded his Xbox along with some great games to buy a new slim PS2 with warranty and card. I've seen some people asking for Xboxes, but the employees always say the supplies are shorted.

the tru in times square had stacks of probably 20+ total on the floor, when before they were out of stock
i think supply has again caught up with demand
