[Supernothing]

I recently got a new monitor. At first it had a very dark picture even after making all adjustments. Then it got fine after a little bit of use. It is now starting to get the dark picture again. It is a 17" proview flat screen CRT. Any idea what may cause this? My old 13" compaq monitor works fine so I don't think it is video card related.

Check the Display settings in windows, the settings in there might be making it dim.

Enough power? Got it connested to a surge protector. It's an old wire, could that be it?

It seems as though it gets darker the longer it is on.

It's natural for a CRT's image to change for a little while right after you turn it on... but it should get better. Sounds like you have a defective monitor. Maybe the power supply is bad.

On the off chance that it is your settings, is contrast set to max?

It was at max, I lowered it to about 67%. Max on brightness and contrast doesn't really do anything to help.

Check the pins on the VGA cable and make sure that they're all there.

All pins are there. Guess I'll have to exchange it. Thanks for all the help everyone.
