Hey I just managed to snag the complete RE series for GCN because I've heard good things about the series in general. I'm wondering are all the games individually worth giving a play through or do some of them stink. Also what order should I play them in to understand the story best, just go through by number 0-4? And where does code name Veronica fit in?
BTW by entire series I mean 0-4 and Veronica, so anything outside of that that's worth playing please let me know.
Also just in case anyone wonders, yes I did search but it just returned a lot of threads about trading RE, etc.
Code Veronica takes place between Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4. I would recommend playing 1, 0, 2, 3, Veronica, 4. 0 is a prequel to 1 but, I haven't played it myself, and it might make more sense to know what happened in 1 to fully enjoy the story of 0.

always start a series from the beginning IMHO

1 is where the series really began, and playing 0 before one will just blow the story for 1 before he even plays it. He's better off starting with 1 and then playing 0 rather than playing them in numerical order.

Thanks for the heads up about ruining the story, I'll go 1-0-2-3-Veronocia-4. Thanks guys.
EDIT: Also I never actually realized how much more the GCN versions cost, how's the gameplay on the other versions compare to Gamceube? I'd kind of like to keep all GCN so I can have the entire series on one system, but not sure if it's worth the extra money.

RE 2,3, and CV are rare for GameCube. You will prob pay ATLEAST $60 for 2-3, and atleast $40 for CV. They were made in VERY small amounts. However, the prices are really inflated now with the release of RE4. Your better off picking up a Dreamcast and getting 2,3,CV on it since they look pretty much the same (No extras added whatsoever to the versions)

I also suggest Outbreak if you have a PS2 because you can get it for about $20 anymore. However, a warning, it can be a struggle to make it through the load times if you don't have a hard drive.

yes and you should just play them in this order:REmake, RE2, RE3, RECVX, RE0, and then finally the holy grail, RE4 (or 4RE as the cover art would have you believe).

Personally, I feel like the Resident Evil series could almost do without Code Veronica and Zero. Neither are monumentally important to the overall RE story; Zero especially felt like a throwaway anecdote. There is a reason why, in the time before RE4's release, people were complaining that the series was growing stale after all...
Besides 0-4 and Veronica there are no REs worth playing -- none of those have connections to the main storyline anyway.
I'm with -Never4ever-, just play the series in the order the games were released: RE (or RE Remake), RE2, RE3, Code Veronica, RE Zero, and RE4.

I'd suggest going:
1 (REmake), 0, 2,3,Code Veronica, 4
0 Spoils too much in the REmake, so definitely play the remake first!

Oh and I wouldn't really bother with the Gun Survivor games or the Gameboy Resident Evil Gaiden. They don't really add much to the story.
