I posted a similar thread, but in the wrong forum.

What s-video cables should I get? I can get Monster for $35 (Amazon or BB w/ GGC), Psyclone for $15 (BB w/ GGC) or Datel or Intec for $10. I would pop for the Monster except I'm thinking I might upgrade my TV to HD before the end of the year and would therefore need to drop $30 or so on a composite cable. Do you get what you pay for? Is the Monster really better than the Psyclone? Is the Datel really worse than the Psyclone? &c.

If you're getting an HDTV soon, buy the cheap S-video for now, then spring for the component cables later. I have a set and they are quite choice. :)

if your tv supports component cable input get those and then you'll still be ready for your hd tv, which is awesome for progressive scan games. otherwise, if you have a regular tv w/s-video in then just get the intec's. really no reason to get monster unless you have all kinds of spaghetti in back of your tv with stereo wires, antaena wires, etc. but even so, save your money for the component cables or even the dvi cables from that "asia..." site. just bout $5 more dollars compared to ordering the component cables from nintendo and the dvi's are oem nintendo too.

i think it's www.play-asia.com

Probably just a typo, but you mean component cable. Composite cable is the red yellow white ones and is much lower quality. Don't ask for the wrong thing at the store!

I never, ever get that right, even when I'm sure I'm getting it right.

Even if you do have the spaghetti look in back of your tv, I still wouldn't buy Monster cables. I have DVD, Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, and cable all connected to my 57" HDTV through a Pelican System Selector Pro using component cables and they are the least expensive ones I could find. Picture quality is superb and it looks like a rats nest on the floor behind the tv!

Don't go with the Monster S-Video cable. I have both the Monster S-Video and Nintendo Component cables presently hooked up to my GC at the same time and the size of the connectors (for both cables) are so oversized that you have to forcefully push them in. I don't think this bodes to well for the life of the connector on the GC end and therefore I plan on "downgrading" my Monster S-video to something more normal sized.

You might also want to check the back of your GC and see if it has the right port

Companent cables are great... except for Zelda for some reason where the picture has these annoying vertical lines all over the place... bummer.
