IGN tells you what 10 games you must absolutely have for the Gamecube. (http://cube.ign.com/articles/590/590436p1.html)

Metroid Prime
Resident Evil 4
Viewtiful Joe
Wave Race: Blue Storm
Super Smash Bros. Melee
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
Pikmin
Soul Caliber II
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

This list is not done yet, IGN will be adding 10 games until they're satisfied with the list.

What do you think of they're list? What's your list of the 10 must-haves for newbs and the hardcore to have?

Wow pretty cool Crash. Thanks for posting it. I have 7 out of the 10. Am just missing RE4 (will wait for it cheap), PoP:tSoT (I already own it for PS2 and don't really feel like another version since this one is just awesone), and Viewtiful Joe which I'm getting in a couple of weeks.

It's pretty comprehensive. Most of those I would have said myself.

Where the hell is Animal Crossing?

Resident Evil 4
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
Pikmin
Soul Caliber II

I agree with those, but you'd think they'd list 10 console exclusives.

It's nice when you can count all the good games for a system using only both hands.

Also, where the hell is F-Zero GX? For the price it's been going for (cheap and for the longest time too), it's another must-have.

I think Animal Crossing, Tales of Symphonia, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, and F-Zero GX should be on that list. I own/owned only two of those, but I've played Super Smash Brothers, Metroid Prime, and Wind Waker enough to know they should be on there too. I'm kind of surprised to see Wave Race on there (I've never heard good things about it), too. The rest of the games (Pikmin, Resident Evil 4, and Eternal Darkness) are on my want list, too.

It's generally too tough of a racer for some people. I love it anyway, no matter how much it just haunts me with failure.

It gets snubbed for the games with a point.

Really? It got an 82% from gamerankings (http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/515938.asp?q=Wave%20Race). Here's what IGN has to say about the game:

Every Nintendo fan has fond memories of Wave Race 64, which appeared on the late Nintendo 64. At the time, it featured the most realistic wave physics ever seen in a console game. It really felt as though the virtual characters on screen were jetting through enormous waves. The stages boasted various weather conditions, all of which greatly affected the race. Tearing through the water on a stormy day would cause the waves to rock your jet ski, where calm skies would let you race through gracefully. Wave Race: Blue Storm doesn't innovate much when compared to its predecessor, but it's a fine-tuned remake of a classic game. Players can customize their racers to fit a specific style and race in all-new environments, including Aspen Lake, Ocean City Harbor and Southern Island. It's also one of the prettiest aquatic racing games, hands down.

Launch games usually get a lot of slack when it comes to ratings.

I know, I have Wave Race and it's a pretty good game. I was surprised to see it was on the list, but I kind of agree with IGN's reasoning for it's inclusion on the list.

Not a terrible list, but everyone will have disagreements. I haven't played a couple of those (RE4/POP), so can't really comment. Soul Calibur II, Metroid Prime and Eternal Darkness I wouldn't put on my list, and Wave Race probably not either. SSBM, Zelda, Viewtiful Joe are right on the money, although I would put Pikmin 2 over Pikmin. Maybe even both, both are great games. Where are Rogue Squadron II, Wario Ware, PSO, F-Zero GX?

The list is rather presumptious in its genre favoritism. I'll never pay money for Soul Calibur II or Smash Bros. The beat-em-up genre has always failed to get me interested. I do have everything else on the list except RE4 and my PoP is on Xbox.

My version of the list would include Monkey Ball. Until recently this was one of the best third party exclusives and my chaoice of purchase from the launch library.

I've played (and own) all of those. All good, agree with all of 'em. Some sequels should go on there (Pikmin 2 comes to mind...)

And where is the Super Mario Sunshine love? Playing through that game again I realize how friken cool it was to have a new level of freedom with the water pak. IT didn't make the game easier, but it made moving around in it a whole lot more fun.

Again guys, it's an ongoing feature. They'll update with ten more games. I would assume those games you suggested would be on there.

I have all on that list besides Pikmin and PoP, which are two of my foremost wants. There are a ton I would add to that list though. Oh, and I have just about all of the other games that people have mentioned so far(except for Wario Ware and PSO).

I think that the thing with Wave Race is that, while a great game, it wasn't revolutionary this time around. These types of things just reinforce what Nintendo says about not being able to sustain the market by just improving graphics indefinitely, without improving gameplay somehow.

I'm not sure about PoP and SCII, since they are not Gamecube exclusives. I'd definitely prefer SCII for Gamecube simply because of Link. I haven't heard the Gamecube version of PoP being the best one. I'm also not sure about Wave Race since I've never played it nor heard much about it.

I think I would replace PoP and Wave Race with Animal Crossing and Paper Mario (haven't played Tales of Symphonia yet).

I own 7 out of the 10.

I'd probably change the list a bit, my list would probably be in no order:

Metroid Prime
Resident Evil 4
Viewtiful Joe
Animal Crossing
Super Smash Bros. Melee
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
Pikmin 2
Harvest Moon
Tales of Symphonia

Not nessecarily my 10 favorite gamecube games, just the 10 I think most people would like the best.

it's a good list. got 100% of it. yup, there are more titles that should be on there/added soon.

with GC, there are probably a solid 50 to 60 must own/play titles. :)

F-Zero is one that I probably would have listed not that I think about it. Also Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, an dTales of Symphonia upon further thought. You are also right that a lot of people do not like it because it is a very difficult racer and I think the computer cheats.

I only have Metroid Prime, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, and Soul Caliber II from their list. I used to have SSBM though.

Metroid Prime - Agree
Resident Evil 4 - Super Agree
Viewtiful Joe - Meh
Wave Race: Blue Storm - Nah
Super Smash Bros. Melee - Agree
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker - Meh
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem - Agree
Pikmin - Agree
Soul Caliber II - Nah
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - Nah

thats what I think of their list. I should go beat up the person that wrote it. That would teach them a lesson. or teach me a lesson if/when I get my ass kicked.
