Okay, I just finished Max Payne, and thought it was a pretty decent game, nothing special but worth a play to the finish. I have Max Payne 2, and was wondering how it stacks up next to the first one. I thought the bullet time in the first was outstanding and am wondering if any major improvments have been made to the second version. I thought the first one was a little short, I probably finished it in just under 10 hours, is the second one longer? Hopefully somebody has played both and can address my questions. Thanks!

The second one is shorter, but there is a lot more action. Good game, but not as great as the first.
The first is an amazing game IMO, and one of my favorites.

Max Payne 2 > Max Payne
Especially on PC with the mods. I enjoyed MP2 a lot more than MP1. I'd recommend it over MP any day.

The second one is just as short, but I think is more enjoyable. The bullet time has been upgraded to if I remember correctly, normal bullet time is unlimited, but you can enter some type of ultra bullet time where you more normal speed, and all of your enemies move in slow motion. Plus there are no fucked up follow the trail of blood nightmare levels.

Agree'd with the earlier two posters. Good game. Some improvements, bullet time largely unchanged.

Max Payne 2 is awesome, one of my favorite games of all time. Definetly worth a play through. A lot was improved on, there arent many of those frustrating nightmare levels anymore. The game is still short but its longer than the first. Also there are some great levels in 2 especially a sniping level. And the A.I. has some problems but its still a fantastic game.

Yeah I think they could have used the sniper rifle more in the first one, and those damn dreams even though it was a good idea, the fucking blood trails had me on the verge of tossing my damn xbox out the window, and playing the cube.

Yeah, same here. Even when using the FAQ I had a hard time getting through the dreams.

they are no where near as fustrating on the PC. Though I agree with them being a bitch on the Xbox.

What is so great about part two is that it literally continues right where part one left off.
Another great story and voice overs. Much better graphics, character models especially Max look much improved.
I found the second one to be easier than the first and shorter.
I would definetly play the second one now. It will not really feel like you are playing a different game just a continuation of the story line. Highly recommended.

This is good to hear, I loved the story and the action was top notch. I'll definitely have to throw this in tonight and try to beat it quick as I'll need to make some time for MVP 2005!

The bullet time is improved by automatically refilling, and I had to have better aim in MP2, for the baddies did already, and kept capping me up. Or maybe I just sucked....

:D I just finished watching the first season again, and I love watching Jack blast the shiznat out of Daddy Drazen. He unloads his whole pistol into the fool, while he's falling into the ocean  Beautiful. Nobody does crazy-as-hell like Jack. :twoguns:
I forgot about those dream sequences from MP1. Man they did suck.
I played MP2 before MP1 actually (just worked out that way) Both have top notch stories, are very short, and are a lot of fun IMO.
And I believe the 2nd one was shorter for me as well.

yeah the blood trail dream sequences were beyond frustrating... it totally didnt rely on skill what so ever but was all about luck. Glad they elminated those for the second games, although i loved the concept of the dream sequences.

I thought the first was better than the sequel.
Max Payne 2 was too plot heavy and that dragged down the gameplay. Still, I recommend both titles.

I like MP2 a lot more than the first one. I hated the blood trail parts in the first one. I just about smashed the game.

I'm a fan of the Payne games and I thought #2 was a nice follow up.
It's really more like Max Payne 1.5, but it's Max Payne nonetheless. I hope they make a #3 sometime soon.

Both games are amazing. I beat each one 5 times. They're just so fun and replayable, among excelling in other things, like storytelling (mainly MP2).

I loved MP2 story, and the gameplay is improved and lots of fun. People complain about the lenght, but its just as long as MP1; which is short.
