A remarkable turn of events, if true.

Sounds like some good news. This reminded me of the president of Square Enix's quote on XBN. It was the article talking about Microsoft's new development system for it's next Xbox (can't remember the name). The prez said that he might be interested in trieing this out.

Oh man, this is good, I refuse to give Sony any more of my money, and I love FF, so if this hits the Xbox I will be one happy dude. Now all that needs to happen is backwards compatability, and the Xbox 2 will be MINE!

Keep in mind guys, this isnt a sign FF will hit the xbox. It merely is saying that the guy who was the pres. of Square USA (before he made his "Spirits Within" misstep) has opened his own design studio and will make a few games for the xbox. Sony and Square are tight. It would take a lot of green and Sony would do a lot of a$$ kissing and begging before it would let such a huge franchise go.

That sounds great. I hope the RPG he works out turns out well.

I do too. His credentials are excellent. And as much as people bash Spirits Within, I enjoyed it ok. I just dont think FF was a mainstream ready as people thought.

Plus, any xbox platform would benefit from more choices. Even if it is an average game (highly doubt that) it will be one more rpg to tide me over.

Final Fantasy will never go to Xbox, but that doesn't mean they'll stay with Sony... There are indications that they might go back to Nintendo. Or publish on both platforms.

This is excellent news for Xbox 2. There will be at least two very strong Japanese RPG's on the system, possibly one at launch. This is in addition to True Fantasy Live Online being resurrected for Xbox 2, which is being made by Level 5, makers of such fine games as Dark Cloud and Dragon Quest 8 (Dragon Warrior 8).

Also of note is that Nobuo Uematsu (composer of FF 1 through 10) also works for Mistwalker, Sakaguchi's studio. The creator and composer of FF are both working on 2 RPG's for Xbox 2... This'll sell Xbox 2's. They might finally break out of single digits in Japan.

I remember reading in EGM that he was in talks with both Nintendo and Microsoft to see who would get the games. They also showed some concept art, and while it was only concept art it looked freaking beautiful. Supposedly, he also has Nobuo Uematsu and Yoshitaka Amano on board.
