I only have 256, and I want more. Is there a program to find out if I have Sim or Dim? Thanks

Typically it depends on the CPU that you have and type of motherboard...
What kind of system do you have?
If it's from Dell or some other manufacturer, you can check on their web site for your specific configuration...

There is a program called Sandra that can pretty much tell you everything you want to know about your omcputer.
http://www.sisoftware.net/
Go download and run it - it will tell you the kind of ram you have and things like that. More importantly, it should be able to tell you what kind of motherboard you have, which you can then get specs on to determine how much ram it can handle, what kind (SDRAM vs DDR, etc).
Otherwise, find out what kind of motherboard you have and look it up on the manufacturer's website.

It depends on what kind of motherboard you have.
There is a program called aida32 that can tell you, and it's free.

google a program called "aida32". It showed a lot of info on the 256mb DDR PC2100 stick that came with the computer (like how it was a Samsung, when it was manufactured, etc.), but didn't give that info for the new Mushkin brand 512 mb stick I got recently (just the specs). So I'd try using that prog, it'll probably tell you what you wanna know.
EDIT: I had a feeling someone was quicker than me, and even provided a link! right on

I ran the Sandra Software, and it told me 768 is the maximum installable Ram. Thanks guys. Now I just need a good video card...since my motherboard is 4x AGP, do I have any limits.

The best way is actually just to open up your comp and take a look at the memory stick. The most important thing you need to figure out is the speed (ie pc2100, pc2700, pc3200, etc.) and whether it's DDR or SDRAM (SDRAM's speed is pc100 or pc133). Hopefully there will be a sticker on the side of the stick of RAM that will tell you that info.
