I just got XBox Live and started playing Halo 2 (it's awesome). I'd like to be able to play splitscreen on live with a friend, and (I think) I can do this as long as I have a separate gamertag for each player. What I'm wondering is:
1) If I set up a subscription on my XBox, is it tied to that particular console (in other words, could I use that subscription at a friend's house)?
2) Can I have two subscriptions set up on a single Xbox?
3) Can I use the same credit card to set up both accounts?
4) Can I use multiple trial subscriptions and change the GT each time, and would this require me to use a separate credit card each time?
Thanks in advance.

1) No. You can use a memory card to switch it to a different Xbox. You must enter some info everytime you do this though to verify that it is you moving the account, and of course one account can't be running on two consoles at any given time.
2) Yes.
3) Yes. I believe you can have up to 10 accounts on one credit card.
4) Yes, you must change the GT and you'll lose any stats tied to the former account. You can use the same credit card.

Led, do you know how many GamerTags you can have on one xbox total? I am wanting to start my own clan and farm the gamertags before anyone else gets the names. Is this possible?

i just experienced live tonight for the first time...got it at the gf's house, since i can't get dsl here.... anyways,
1. i used the 2 months free from halo 2, and i still had to enter credit card info, will i get billed? i don't wanna pay from the credit card, just want to buy the card when we decide to renew.
2. if you let a gamertag expire, does it become usable again to other people? or is it useless to everyone?
3. is rumble training the only types of games on halo 2 that aren't ranked? or are there ways to get into other types?
4. i want to get 2 headsets. i've seen some 5 dollar ones at gamestop, and i believe they are mad catz. do these just plug into the memory slots on a regular controller s? i've seen some mics that have the little box at the end to plug into the memory slot on the controllers. i didn't see this on the gamestop website. any other things i should know about headsets will be greatly appreciated.
sorry for the questions, but i just thought i'd ask those who actually knew instead of trying to go through some customer support or what not. and on a side note, live is friggin awesome. i'd been missin out.

It WILL charge it if you do not call and cancel it after 2 months. It just rolls over. No warning or anything.

Useless AFAIK

Whatever your choice, you MUST have a communicator, which you can only get by getting an official Microsoft headset (which comes with the year package). There might be a third party communicator now.

Hip Gear makes a headset/communicator unit for $19.99.

And if you can still find it, they bundled headsets with Rainbow Six 3 when it launched back in 2003.

bump...got the "official" live headset....was that the right choice? played like 2 games on it tonight, felt ok.
i have another question, i used the 2 month trial from halo 2...and when the 2 months are up can i just renew my subscription with a live card or do i have to do it with my credit card?

you can use a live year card to renew it, you might as well do it now so it just does it automatically

ok, gonna use this thread again....
can 2 people on the same xbox use 2 headsets? i haven't seen two people using the same gamer tag both have headphones. that's not to say that it can't be done i just haven't seen it yet, i've only played a few days.
just wondering this before i get another headset and am not able to use it.

Only one headset per XBL account.
You could try the NYKO speaker thing, but I heard it sucks because you have to press the button to talk or something. (kind of like a walkie talkie)
As for your XBL guests, they cannot use a headset. My friend was in the same boat as you - bought a second headset so he could play at another friend's place. (this was before he bought his own Xbox)
He had to use a 2 month subscription card to use his headset. HTH
