Shouldn't be $5000.00 to repair if you have insurance, if it's full coverage. Nobody has a deductable that high unless they drive like a porsche or something.

if your front end is crushed and your smokin, it's probally your radiator that you blew. and your deductible shouldn't be more than a grand if you have full coverage, probally more likely to be 500 or 250. good luck with your car, I totalled my saturn at 18 mph's 2 months ago and have been carless since, so I feel your pain alot! this person who I am buying my new used car from needs to hurry up and finish it so I can buy it.....................

Well sice the back is still in good condition, you could buy a hatcback civic and superglue the Scion and Xb logo on it. No one could tell the diffference. Good luck with trying the other way though.

If you bought the car on your own, you should know what your deductible is with your insurance. You are most likely only going to have to pay $500, and the insurance will take up the rest.
Ya know, that's why people pay money for insurance.
Will your insurance go up? Maybe ... maybe not. It will depend on your previous driving record.
Don't freak out about the whole thing. First, you need to call your insurance and figure out how much your deductible is.
If it's a new car and you're still paying it off, then it has to have full-coverage insurance.

man theres been a lot ofwwrecks in the last few days. There was a sad one here last night.
there was a 17 year old with 2 15 year old passagers driving a car. the driver tried to go around a car and slammed head first into a row of trees when they went off the road. Someone who saw the wreck said when the cars hit the Tree The Engine of the car went flying straight up in the air and EXPLODED . there was nothing left of the front of the car and the back tires of the car were around 20 feet away from the car
Sadly the 17 year old driver and one of the 15 year olds died right there. there is another 15 year old in very bad shape. All 3 had their seatbelts on

Is the money just to repair your car or to repair the other person's car and/or anyone's medical expenses? Because if it's just your car, do you absolutely need a car for school/work? My car was totalled a couple years ago, and this was in California suburbia where you almost NEED a car. I say almost because I managed on public transportation to get to work (and bumming of rides from family for non-work stuff) because I couldn't afford another POS car. That might be an option if you're really lacking funds.

and sadly, i do need a car for school or walk :-\...its a 30 min drive, and the buses take 2 and a half hours, plus the buses that lead to my school are all on strike (the bee-lines )

I'm not surprised. 17 year olds shouldn't be allowed to drive. They are dangerous.

i was in a wreck Back in 2003 (to the date it be March 20 2003) Some lady ran a red light and hit my car head on. Totalled the car out , it looked like i hit a phone pole cause the middle of the car was just crushed in like it hit a pole . The cops said it look like it cause we hit. I was walking around flagging down the cops and telling people to watch out and the day later I could hardly get out of bed. So just cause someone is walking around after the wreck dont mean they are not hurt
about the 17year old car Wreck... It makes you wonder how freaking fast they are going to make a Car Engine fly out of a car and EXPLODE. I mean there was nothing left of the car

Where did you come up with the $5000 number? I'm guessing that's your damages since insurance should cover most of the other person's stuff. You might want to consider someone else's suggestion and just get a crappy cheap used car (which can definitely go < $5000). Another option is to sell stuff, if you have any other worldly goods.

I don't know if it's a good idea to sell off the car at this point to buy a cheap car (since I assume he's making payments and will take a big loss if he sells the car now). I can understand wanting a nice, new car. I was just like that when I was younger but I quickly found out that cars, especially new ones are just big money pits. It costs a lot to maintain, insure and even gas a car much less make the monthly payments on it.
I paid off my first new car (60 monthly payments) and was able to use it for 8 years. I just paid off my second new car (36 months) and am now enjoying not having some outrageous car payment every month, although insurance still knocks every six months. I'll probably be able to get a good 8-10 years from this car before I have to buy another.
OP, good luck. Just remember to set aside a little money each month for insurance and incidentals. Before you know it, you'll need to replace the brakes or tires, or battery or ...

You have irritated me as well. Your ignorance of how insurance functions was the primary reason I originally acted as I did. You pay the deductable and they reimburse you for repairs.
Yes, what happened to you sucks. No I will not donate money. And I hope nobody else does either. If anyone feels the need, send a little my way, I have bills too. Get your car fixed, or buy an older car. I may have had a little more sympathy if you hadn't caused the accident. But you did, so suck it up. Don't ask for sympathy, I don't have any to give you. Don't whine for money, I don't have any of that to give you either.
Don't ask me to bail you out of your messes.

I think it's funny that everybody is giving this guy crap, yet everybody treats the guy trying to score a free kitchen as some sort of martyr (so much so as to vote on different computers, multiple times a day).
I think that the OP's of both threads should STFU and realize that everybody has bad times, and that threads like this are the equivelant of standing outside on a busy street holding an empty Big Gulp cup.

You pay around a $5000 premium for the hybrid and it takes 9-10 years to make it back in fuel savings. The premium keeps it from being a good money saving investment, Its more of a envioromentaly friendly thing to do, than a money saving idea.
And to the OP, dont you have insurance?

Well if you give the kitchen guy the benefit of the doubt you don't lose much except maybe a minute of your time. Here it's sending him money, which is the same principle but still different enough for an internet plea.

OP, now that you know your deductible shouldn't be anywhere near $5,000 you really should edit your original post and stop asking for money. It seems a bit misleading when most people are expecting you to pay $500 and you're asking for $5,000. That's the reason why there has been more flaming lately on your thread.

I gotta admit it drives me up the wall when people ride my ass. I do brake checks, I'll admit it. 1 car lenght per 10 mph, right? 15 maybe? Anyway, like I said, no harm, lesson learned right?
