ok let me start by saying ive heard no one ever talk about this game, so im going to bet its pretty far under the radar. i first played this game over a year ago, and i loved it, but i stopped playing because it was a rom, and i didnt want to beat it until i got the real deal, which i didnt find until last week, ebgames had it for $10 shipped AC (cart only) and i jumped on it.

i got it in the mail today and i was happy to find out i forgot the story and how to play it, so it was really like a new game to me. the game is a side scrolling action game, with elements comparable to mainly 3 games; the gba splinter cell series (which i find far superior to the console counterparts) the original ninja gaiden games, and the new-age ninja classic, ninja five-0

on top of having elements of 3 great series, this game expands on them all, instead of guns or swords you mostly use your hands and feet, you have many moves at your disposal, you can flip backwards off walls, do split kicks, flying kicks, backhand punches, and tons more, including some sweet combo specific moves. there is some weaponry in this game, but AFAIK it is limited to staffs, chucks and poison darts. the darts are nice because they kill enemies in one shot and are essential for the stealth levels of the game. the staff is nice because if youre running you can plant the staff and do a double kick.

so, that sounds like alot for four buttons to do...but it works really well, the controls are amazingly fluid and feel natural. on top of the fluid controls, the animations are top notch, and if there are too many enemies on the stage, the camera actully pulls away from the action so you can judge where all your enemies are.

add to all this, great music. the music is very 70's era mixed with some techno, and traditional eastern music, and it couldnt sound better, it has a really good soundtrack for a gba game (imo most scores in gba games are afterthoughts)

the only downfall is that the game can be kind of short, i got it today and got to the last level in a little over an hour on easy mode, however the last level is a total bitch you have to memorize EVERY MOVE or you'll get caught. however easy is the first of four difficulty levels, so if you fly through it and find yourself wanting more, theres more challenge there.

i reccomend this game to anyone who wants some old school beat em up action. i paid 10 bucks for this CART FRIGGAN ONLY!! dont be passing this up for $13 brand new, this is a hidden gem of a game, and its none too easy to find!

Does the animation make up for the crappy grafx? Because I just saw screenshots of what seemed like a butt-ugly game. On the other hand, if the game has cool music that's always a big plus for handheld games.

There's a good trailer of this game on IGN for those who want to get a better feel of what the game plays like.

punq - Just picked this up at a EBGames B&M today on your recommendation. If folk want to combine it with a used game (to get free SAVER shipping), it can be found new at EBGames.com for $14.99. (http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/232197.asp)

I'll give it a whirl on the train tonight and post my thoughts later.

Whoa, I didn't even notice that there was a script that added an image from EB whenever you URL'd a link. Most excellent.

So I got to level 7 last night and damn if it isn't a fun side-scroller. The stealth levels are a bit annoying, but there appear to be unlimited lives, so that's a nice touch.

If you're a fan of side-scrolling beat 'em ups, then you definitely owe it to yourself to pick up this game. As punq mentioned, the fighting system has a ton of moves, but is still amazingly intuitive. I'm looking forward to getting through it once so I can unlock the "Director's Cut" mode and see the alternate ending.
