According to the latest ESRB Rating Approvals, Square Enix has successfully attained a Teen rating for its upcoming sequel to the highly popular anime to game series, Fullmetal Alchemist 2: Curse of the Crimson Elixir.

Known in Japan as Hagane no Renkin Jutsushi 2: Akaki Elixer no Akuma, Fullmetal Alchemist 2 was released to overseas audiences in September of last year. It was heralded by fans as a much better game than the original too, as it fixed several of the problems that plagued the first installment including an increased number of items, better AI, and a more streamlined graphics engine. Full impressions of the import can be found by clicking here. (http://ps2.ign.com/articles/551/551995p1.html)

An exact US release date for Cruse of the Crimson Elixir has not been announced, and Square Enix had no official comment when we contacted its representatives earlier this morning. Given the fact that ESRB submissions are only made when the intent to bring a game to the marketplace is present, however, we expect a more formal announcement sometime in the coming weeks. We'll keep you updated as it happens.

Good news, especially that it's much better than the first, which was just average. Anyone looking forward to this game?

From the little I played of the firt, I thought it was an o.k. type of a game. Nothing spectacular. This is pretty good news though that it is much better than the first. Maybe I'll pick this one up right off the bat then.

My girlfriends gonna be really happy to hear this she is obsessed with FMA and loved the first game. Hopefully it comes out with out too much wait she hasn't really had anything to play since she beat sly 2 about a week ago.

If they have the original Japanese voice actors, then I'll consider it. But I'll pass if it's only English dubbing.

I hope this mean there will be a price drop on the first since i want to pick that up but not for $40.

Anybody picked up the first one yet? This sequel seems a bit premature.

Meh, the first one was pretty tight. The characters were 'clunky' in their control scheme, and the graphics didn't just feel right, IMO. I've always been of the belief that animated topics converted to games should still feel animated. Gives it a fresher feel. Anyway, the pacing on these games actually adds a two month gap to what the Japanese release dates originally were. As I recall, they got the first one last february. If this also goes PSP, no doubt, as it is though, I really don't have anything against buying this first day.

Now let's just hope the movie stays on schedule for its stateside release...
