View Full Version : I'm FINALLY a PS2 owner.
Thanks to someone telling me there was an FYE in my town I traded in some games and got enough credit to get a PS2. It came today and all I have to say is :
HOLY CRAP!
Now, I've played plenty of PS2 games, so its not the graphics or anything that impress me. Actually its the slim PS2 itself. The thing is damn gorgeous. Its got to be the coolest console I've ever seen.
My first love will always be my gigantic Xbox, but I'm really happy with my PS2 purchase. No matter what anyone says about Sony you can't deny they make some of the "sexiest" electronics out there.

Yeah, it doesn't look all that cool on the box or in the TV spot, but when I saw mine up close and personal, it reminds me of seeing a nearly cassette sized walkman for the first time.

Which FYE did you go to? I know of the one at the Boulevard Mall and I think there is one at the Meadows. I think most of the Wherehouses that were in town turned into these. They're basically the same anyway.

was there a particular game that sold you to the idea, or did you just have the money and figure ::shrug:: oh well, might as well.

You gotta get the original devil may cry first though. You can skip the second one because I don't think it has anything to do with the whole story of devil may cry. Just get the first and third one

The Boulevard, I think. I don't know of an FYE anywhere else in town.

Combo of both. I've had the money for a while and there have always been games that I really wanted to play on PS2. But I think what clinched it was seeing God of War in action. As soon as I heard about that game and saw footage I went "well shit, now I *HAVE* to get a PS2. That game looks fantastic". And now that I do have a PS2 I'm pissed at myself for not getting one sooner. It really is a completely different experience than playing Xbox, as strange as that may sound.

Yeah, got it. The first 3 games I got were Champions of Norrath, Devil May Cry, and Maximo. Why is the second one so bad? Its not even worth buying if I find it cheap?

Its not that is bad per se, its that it was too easy, Dante was basically a mute in it, and it just wasn't as much fun as DMC1 was. But definatley do get DMC3. It is really well done.

What did you have to trade to get it? I've always wanted a PS2, but when I had money for one (November-December) they were all sold out due to the new model combined with the holiday shopping season.
I never really trade games, but if I can get a decent amount of credit at FYE without having to give up much, I'll do it.

I traded in 10 games, including NBA Street 3 and KOTOR 2. But I got KOTOR 2 for Xmas and NBA Street 3 I got from EB during one of their trade in specials. If you add up the cash I actually paid for the games I traded in, the total I paid for the PS2 was probably about $115 shipped after taxes.

NBA street isn't that great... I regret buying it for 25.

Well, I don't play games like NBA Street online, and truthfully theres not that much difference between 2 and 3 to justify keeping it. In fact, I almost prefer the second one. The dunk contest in #3 sucks and should have been left out.

Also don't forget the Ratchet and Clank series of games; the third one has certainly been the best. Go score with the 2 for $30 greatest hits sales going on now!

Yeah thanks to an excellent trade deal I've got going with a member of this forum, I'm soon going to have Ratchet & Clank 1 and 2 in my collection. Can't wait.
