I just went to their wbesite and the little "free shipping on everything thing" banner near the top is gone. Does that mean that the free shipping deal is over?

*EDIT* It is confirmed now....damn it there were some cheap games I wanted to pick up too *EDIT*

I just read somebody complaining about paying 1.99 for shipping now. So it may be true. http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12296

I just checked mine, and it finally shipped.

EBGames.com has really been shaking things up. It's a shame that most of the changes cost us more money.

Banner now says free shipping on only pre-played games with code "saver." Boo-urns. Tax I can understand, but taking away free shipping? That's just crossing the line.

Well, a new banner is up. Free shipping only for preowned. Coupon code: SAVER.

Edit: A minute too slow.

I agree with SoulEdge too. Tax and now shipping. B&M here I come.

Just placed an order two minutes before I posted above and got free shipping on MLB Slugfest 2003 for Xbox, new. Didn't enter any code, either.

EB has officially lost my business.

I could live with the tax, but now having to pay for shipping too - no way!

ALL CAGers NEED to boycott them and Cheapy should send them an official letter saying that.

I don't really see the need for a boycott. But no free shipping and no AFF25 will definitely cut down my shopping there a ton. I've probably purchased 8 or 9 used games from there in the past month or so and without those two deals I would have maybe picked up 2 of those.

Actually there probably doesn't need to be an organized boycott because with the price that much higher a lot of people will just go to BB and GGC on their own.

It's hard to justify buying anything online if you have to pay Sales Tax AND Shipping charges! It's cheaper in the store and I get it today!

I think a boycott would be pretty stupid since the free shipping was just a promotion, and it's not like EB keeps the sales tax...

Wow, that really sucks, now I definitely won't be buying from them unless it's a great deal. I don't buy preowned games, so the SAVER code will be no help to me.

Can you use more than one code on EB? Cause if you can't then that sucks that people won't be able to get the 25% off and free shipping.

Bah, oh well, I guess just another reason for me to slow down my purchases.

Man I still have my $10 gift voucher from Ninja Gaiden. I should have just blown it on something before they started taxing and charging shipping (that alone is going to be atleast $5). :(

If shipping is $1.99, I don't think it's that bad.

I remember ordering from EB from 1998 to until they introducted the super shipper saving and the minimum shipping charge was $4.99 and I had to pay tax back then as well.

However, I wouldn't order from them unless they were less than everyone else

yeah, that ruins it. plus, my recent used games from the site were FAR less than satisfactory. only one had a manual, Jet Grind Radio. well, two, Deception had one, but only one had an original case, the rest were in CD cases. older games just need to be found in store, and made sure they have a case and manual.

You can use the SAVER code to get free shipping on a pre-played item and a normal item if you are ordering both at the same time. So since saver shipping is $1.99, you can add a $1.99 Genesis, SNES or PS1 game, use the free shipping code and end up getting a $1.99 game instead of using that $1.99 to pay for shipping. You can even get that $0.99 PS1 game and save $1 on shipping. Not a great deal, but it's worth it.

no, its not.

unless the PO game is under $7.99 the saver code is worthless.

you can use aff25 on a 7.99 game and save $2.00, so any po game over 7.99 its better to go with the aff25, which you will still incure the added $2.00 for shipping.

im glad i placed an order yesterday morning before all this happened

I mean if you are going to buy a $10 non-PO game and then pay $2 for shipping, you are going to pay $12 plus tax. Instead of paying for the shipping, you can add a $2 PO game, then enter the saver code for free shipping and your total is still $12 plus tax. So it's like getting a free $2 game.

I know tbis is probably posted all over the place, but Reservation Rewards is not offering the $10 gift coupon for ebgames anymore unless you stay on for the trial period.

Also, I agree that $1.99 isn't that bad. I use to order pay $4.99 for regular shipping too! As I remember it, it's only been about a year since super saver shipping was introduced, and its trackable. Not too shabby really.

But I also agree that of the last 6 POs that I've bought from their online site, only three have worked. Two I sent back, one was replaced, the other refunded without shipping costs (so I paid $2 for nothing there) and the third I just didn't bother. Too much trouble.

Most of the games I buy are only 1.99. I'll have to double what I pay!*vomits*

Doesn't EB offer in-store pick-up for orders now? Is free shipping that much of a loss if you can just go to the store to get your game? That way you don't have to wait. I'm assuming you can still use all the good coupons and gift vouchers. I think them charging tax was a bigger upset, but EB is still a great store for games. Gamestop always left me unimpressed.

dang, i just tried to order something using the saver code and aff25. i cancelled it b/c the item is under 10 bucks and it really kills the deal when you can't stack those coupon codes together.

Absolutely correct. As for the astute comment EB doesn't keep the tax, you are correct. The problem is I don't care who keeps the tax if it ends up costing me more.

In the late 1990's I worked for a company that thought the internet was going to put all B&M out of business. I never thought for sales purposes the internet was anything more than a modified 24/7 catalogue.

At the end of the day I want to spend less money. Whack me with high shipping costs and I won't buy from you. Whack me with sales tax, while you are charging me normal retail prices and I won't buy from you.

It makes no sense.
