I know it's been out for well over a year now (maybe a year and a half), but I just played it. To be honest, it's one of the better games that I've played in a long time (if it wasn't coming right after San Andreas, I would have said best instead of better). I thought it had an interesting story, it was very solid platformer that added some of the hovercraft missions for good measure. But, I thought it had 2 things going for it that really set it apart.
1) It actually pulls off trial and error platforming that is prevelent in old school games. Back in the old days, this was the rule. Now, most of the games that employ this technique is more annoying than fun. But, when it's done right, it's amazing.
2) It's geniuenly tries to be funny and pulls it off. Comedy in games seems to be the trickiest item to pull off. Nothing is worse than a game that is trying to be serious but just comes off funny (think Master of Unlocking line from Resident Evil). But, how many games even try to be funny, and how many of them pull it off? I worried with the more intense storyline compared to the first one, that the game would lose the charm that the first Jak had. But, this game somehow merged the two, and had many moments that were worth a chuckle.
Thoughts?
