Most people tolerate the existence of ROMs, but asking where to find them is crossing the line....

Actually, I believe it is illegal. Can't you only have roms if you own the games first? I don't blame you though...I do the same thing with music cds.

And games dont have FBI warning labels so unless you abuse it ALOT...like people do with music then you cant or wont pe prosecuted...No one cares that much to sue me because I have a couple of games on my comp. that im trying out...Same with a few songs...Thos people with thousands and thousands of songs are idiots and were rightfully prosecuted

Yes, you are. Roms in any form are illegal. The 24 hour rule is a popular myth, but it's a damn lie. If your going to be a leeching asshole, the least you could do is be honest about it.

Depends on the liscencing agreement you agree to when you purchase a game. Most Nintendo made games, or games published for a Nintendo console have a blurb in thier liscensing agreement that explicitly bans you from making an archival copy. While I don't think many people have ever tested it in court, it's just safer to assume that it's illegal and go from there... I mean, pirating roms in bad enough, but trying to do it and then act like you are legally in the right is another thing alltogether.

not really, it's says to me "hey i like that radiohead song. no, not creep, that other one. you know, that one. hoo boy, that's a good song!" either that or "i have no idea what karma means", but if that's the case i guess that would make it ironic after all.

i don't get roms. there's just something i don't find fun about playing nintendo games on my computer. i'd rather play nintendo games on my nintendo. but that's just me.

This is the worst theory I have ever heard! Check the EULA on your games! You do not have the right to make a copy. And yes you can be prosecuted for copying a game. It just depends on who looking into the situation.
