It's so lame that Darkstalkers wasn't reprogrammed for a 16x9 screen.

Capcom hasnt' changed the art for some of these sprites for 15 years and you expect them to change something now?

Speaking about Darkstalkers...It really sucks that the controls are a problem and will be for all fighting games. The only portable that pulled off a good control scheme for fighters was the NGPC. There goes my dream of having a good portable version of Street Fighter to play. (I love Capcom vs. SNK - MOTM for the NGPC but I need an updated one graphics wise!)

Gamespot review of Spider-Man 2 agrees with the IGN one.

Sounds like it is fun while it lasts, anyway.

so far from what it seems the top ranked games for launch will probably be Wipeout Pure, Lumines, Metal Gear Ac!d, and Ridge Racer...

I expect many have already seen this, but 1up.com and gamespot.com rated Darkstalkers a bit higher than IGN.

Gamespot 8.1

1up.com 8.5

So Wipeout beat Ridge Racer on IGN? That surprises me. Maybe I should scrounge up three more cheap games to trade in at EB.

Gamespot said in their review that Darkstalkers is probably the best portable fighting game ever. Looks like a must buy for fighter fans.

Bagh...I have my copy of Pure sitting here, watching me. Grabbed it on my way out today, since it was in. Stupid as hell, but hey, figured since it was PiF, might as well give them the NR tracking sale. If mocks me now, from the future. It laughs backwards at me from next thursday, until I can truly caress and enjoy it.

oh! milkshakes...

the reviews are actually pretty much what expected so far =). The only ones I werent sure of were probably need for speed 2 and dark stalkers. Good to see 3/4 of the games i've bought have high ratings. Only one left is untold legends. It seems Untold legends and Ridgeracer is selling out of preorders. it's crazy hehe.

Yeah, I saw that. The reviewer seemed against the game from the beginning.

Yeah looks as though he/she was desperatly wanting old-fashioned MGS actiobn and was disapointed in what Ac!d is.

IT dpeends on whether you like card games or not. it's got a huge personal preference factor. Many people don't like card games though.

As for Darkstalkers to be reprogrammed to 16:9, there's no excuse. Even assuming they had to do it from scratch you are buying a whole nother game so I don't see why they couldn't have taken the effort. But then again they wouldnt really need to. The only things that would need to be expanded, if at all, are the backgrounds.

They're lazy I thought we covered this. The last thing they're going to do is spend time on a 3 or 4 year old 2D game when all they think about is 3D now.

I am disappointed, but not surprised, but the Metal Gear Acid review. I still have Wipeout and Lumines on my "to buy" list for the magical day that I get a PSP, far in the future.

Just responding to the one guy that said it was impossible to do =)

Yeah, I saw that. The reviewer seemed against the game from the beginning.

The reviewer explicitly said he was against it from the beginning... however, he said that he tried to enjoy it despite this and got himself re-hyped for a portable Metal Gear. I've heard complaints like this before - that the card battling is very boring and monotonous. I don't really like the fact that movement requires cards but still causes you to wait the number of turns that a card would have you wait had it been used for an attack, etc, but maybe this wouldn't throw me off too much.
Also, I think he wrote a lot of the review to the person who wants a portable MGS, which, though it isn't you or I, per say, is probably the majority of people who will buy MGA at launch.
Either way, I'm looking forward to trying it out this weekend, as a friend of mine is picking up a PSP and several games on Thursday.

I would wait for another review but ultimately you will probably like this game if you like metal gear solid.

Card games suck, so the review doesn't surprise me at all. I think many people will buy MGA thinking it will be like MGS and be severely disappointed. I will not be buying this game.

Exactly. I got the import the day it came out. I think the game is decent. However, if it we not for the shiny coat of MGS paint, the game is useless. I feel if the game did not have the MGS liscene then most people would agree that the gameplay leaves much to be desired.
