I got this from IGN:
Ok im going to break it down, so its forever know to all, Compusa offers an extended warrenty on PSP no matter where you purchased it :
1yr =27.99
2yr =44.99
What it covers: everything under the sun except for theft, again you dont need to buy the psp at compusa, just bring in the working unit and the reciept to customer service and they will hook you up. Its the best deal out there so GET IT, oh yeah and its renewable
As far as I know this hasnt been mentioned on here yet, and I didn't want to post it on the deal board since its not exactly a deal. CompUSA also offers the same extended warranty for iPod as well. I believe these warranty are actually hosted by a 3rd party company, but everything is done at CompUSA. You might want to call your CompUSA to confirm if you're skeptical.

Wow, nice find. This is very tempting since its a $250.00 investment.

I posted it in that thread earlier today.. Might be helpful in deciding which replacement plan to get. Right now BB and Compusa seem to have the best ones since you get unlimited returns(i think). EBGames is good too since it covers accidents, but you only get one replacement i think.
BTW some guy in the IGN PSP boards claimed it was fake. I know it's true for the Montclair, CA Compusa, but you should definitely call to check.

It's a go on Monrovia, CA and Puente Hills, CA CompUSAs; I called them earlier and I can confirm it.

Did your CSR tell you what the terms of the warranty were? Mine said that negligence/dropping it wasn't covered, but I'm sure some creative storytelling could fix that..

It certainly does sound like a good deal, atleast if you fear something happening to it, And if the Overstock deal comes through then the warrentee is even better because youd have a PSP that was purchased for what amounts to regular price and a warrentee that lasts for a year for about 3 or 4 bucks.

Umm my understanding is that they have to inspect your psp to make sure it's working perfectly first before giving you the warranty..

lol. That's the lady in the radiator from Ereaserhead. She's hot!
Uh, technically my PSP *works* perfectly. So maybe the Circuit City warranty will cover it. Guess I should try returning it to Gamerush first though.

Good luck.. I'm going to Best Buy tomorrow and getting the replacement plan so I hope I'm covered if I get dead pixels..
BTW, you did mean CompUSA right?

Yeah, EB in Florida has something similar- 29.99 cover your system fully for the term of its manufacturer's warranty and another year on top of that. Anything and everything can be done to this thing, so long as it's still in one relative piece, and they to a one time swap within those two years. Cheaper than cell phone insurance for a year.

I just got my psp at target, and they said there is no such thing as warranty from target >_< Maybe i should have asked customer service?

nah, they only have a 90 day return policy.
It's weird though since they offer extended warranties online.

I also got mine at Target, the receit says I have till 6/22/2005 to return or exchange. The CompUSA warranty looks good.

No, it just needs to be in new condition.
As for anyone else wondering, it's not really an extended warranty. CompUSA refers to it as a replacement plan, which is good for ONE replacement of the PSP. Say you get the one year plan, within that one year (from the day you purchase the plan) you can replace the unit ONCE with the plan. After that, you'd have to repurchase the plan.
Do not think that it is for unlimited replacements, because it's not.
And it basically covers anything, other than theft/loss/complete and utter destruction beyond recognition. So the day before your plan expires, you can bring it in and tell the customer service rep. that your unit doesn't sound as loud as it used to. Or you could say something else, because it doesn't really matter. You could say that the drive shoots the disc out every time you get to the fourth level on Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen's Wild PSP Adventures.
There you have it.

do they give voucher for the amount of money you spend on the psp like BB does ?
mr_pollock

Huh?
You have to get a new PSP once yours breaks or when you request the replacement. If they no longer have any new ones in stock, then they will give you the dollar amount (in store credit) that was on the original receipt when you bought the replacement plan.
They basically give you this little pamphlet explaining the terms and conditions. They store your address, telephone number, stuff like that in their computers to be able to pull your records up at a later date. You must hang on to both receipts (the one you got for the PSP and the one you got for the replacement).

Who did you talk to? it was said earlier in the thread you have to speak to a manager.

04-03-2005, 09:22 PM
me and sostrooper were able to get the "replacement plan."
You have to ask around, not all employees there knows about the deal. So ask the manager, or ask someone to talk to the manager about it.

BB's warranty is 2 years for 39.99, in case anyone wants to save a few bucks. but it may be a little tighter than this.
also, doesn't the PSP come with a one year warranty?
Alpha2
04-04-2005, 02:31 AM
Sony's 1 year warrenty only covers the system breaking down.
CompUSA's "replacement plan" covers just plain getting a new system altogether if you like sneeze on it. (I love hyperboly)

I know it's been said that the plan basically covers anything (except for theft), so I'm assuming that dead pixels is also covered as well? I got a dead pixel and it'd be nice to get a new one just like that
Alpha2
04-04-2005, 03:07 PM
if it's only a single pixel it's probably not worth spending all that money to risk getting a system with more, each time you use the replacement plan you'd have to buy another if you need to change it again later.

I'm from California. If one CompUSA doesn't work, try another. Call first before you go. I know they do this for the Apple iPod.

I'm going to guess once. It's designed to last 2 years.

Bastards. Actually every time I go into that CompUSA I always get the feeling they don't really want your money, like all the shit they have in there is like the pointless stationary store fodder and they make all their money off $4000 Macs, too bad you cant do it over the phone with stores that WILL do it.

Never buy a CompUSA extended warranty. I used to work there, and the joke is that CompUSA will go to any means necessary to NOT honor your warranty.

Damn are u serious! Thats freakin gay. Im debating whether I should get it from Eb and get the 25 dollar 1 year warrant, or at Bestbuy witht he 40 dollar warranty.

05-09-2005, 12:24 AM
Why not just add it to your insurance?
Then it will cover theft also.
