Anyone else getting Flak from BB employees?

I went today to get some .01 guides and pick-up a $5 game with coupon. They rang up the guides just fine, but they wouldn't take the coupon. They said they don't take copied coupons. I said this is how the coupon came from BB in-store. (My store didn't ever have these, but I did get a copy from the store at the beach when I was there.) Anyway, they said NO.

If I didn't have guides to buy at the time, I would have complained, but I didn't want them to take the guides back as well.

This sucks, cause this is the only Bestbuy we have. I'm not driving over an hour to save $5 on a game.

Has anyone had success in fighting this? Is there a number I can call to complain? I checked the website, but of coarse it's a pain in the ass to get ahold of anyone.

It's not my fault they gave out copied coupons that say "no photocopies".

Yeah, mostly evening employees allow me to use as many as I want, even if they have to write it out and do the coupon manually. The morning employees are pretty asinine about it, and told me I could only use one per day. They tell me each time that I can't use it anymore because they didn't give out photocopies, only other nearby stores did. Somehow, the coupons were all given out 20 minutes after they opened, and a lot of friends of employees sure do have a lot of them. Jackasses... Another nearby store refuses to give me copies of games for free, even though I had an original, they kept on telling me it was a copy. WTF! I really wish there was a complaint number to call on them, this is retarted. The coupon reads "any". Half the employees tell me I can't use it on a game unless its over 19.99, a couple say I can only use it on 49.99 titles. Argh, I'm never shopping at best buy again except when I'm using these coupons. Fuckers. I cut my credit card in half earlier today.

I totally agree. They try to pull excuses out of their ass not to let you use the coupon. I agree that it say's "no copies allowed", but it was their dumb asses that copied it in the first place. If anyone finds a complaint # for them, please let us know.

Also, I know that some of the games go right through and automatically take the $5 off and some don't. It would be nice to have a list of the ones that just work.

It seems that the longer a transaction takes, (if the coupon doesn't work and they have to lower price manually) the more chance the deal will get pulled.

I found Whirl Tour for $9.99 at my Best Buy...you could at that to the list, but i'm guessing its somewhat rare also...(however...i hated that game and traded it in to gamerush months ago when it was $2.99 at EB for $15 Gamerush credit..)

List updated.

I've gotten a little flack from employees on certain occasions when I've used the coupon: the key is to be a nice friendly person, even sociable, and to kindly point out that the coupon does not specify anything about a minimum price... Generally if the manager gets involved, I've found they always side with me: better to keep the customer happy than cause a scene, I suppose.

A hint: Tear out or cut out the coupon. Don't do a stack at a time, do them individually. Looks more legitimate. I got a couple Jampacks this way. Also, if you find any games that are less than $5, don't get them alone, they'll probably hassle you. Get that game and at least 1 other. Find a $10 game and the $5 game or whatever, so you pay like $5 for one and get the other free. If you don't want the $10 game, then return it. Voila! free game.

Just used a coupon I printed out today... cashier looked at it for about 20 seconds, scanned it, and when it worked just put it into the drawer.

I guess he didn't believe it was real until it scanned up as a coupon.

Then he gave me the evil eye as I was getting Metal Arms for 5.34 instead of the 19.99 price tag on the game.

What a great deal this is. Got XIII, Jampack, Evil Dead, and EQ:OA for free! Only had to use the one coupon and the nice older lady at the register gave it back to me, "Just in case I find anything else later on in the year". She was kind enough to go through the coupon manually for XIII and Evil Dead.

I suppose the fact that I bought an LCD TV helped calm the sea.

But amazing deal OP.

My best buy doesn't let me shop there anymore because I "abused a glitch in their system". Yeah...using their own coupons is a glitch alright... Too bad I was about to buy a huge TV from them. Guess I'll just get all the free games from all the other stores in the area and actually spend oodles of cash somewhere else. At any rate...this post was to prove that they do, in fact, care that we're getting games for free.

hehe my thoughts exactly :D That's why I think this coupon will go down as one of the more infamous deals of the year: where else will you be able to get FREE games all year long? ;)

I went ahead and edited out my exploit on the Jampacks and the three for one deal in the original post; it's long dead, and is just going to confuse people (apparently).

I'd call the corporate office and bring it up with them, actually, since I'm sure they would like to know why a paying customer who would be bringing them income, is being denied acceptance from the store.

What, the yellow-shirt Loss Provention person stop you at the door, or something like that?

I'd call them on that and ask them to prove how you're trying to cheat them. Since accusing someone of cheating isn't theft, and therefore, why would they keep you out of the store? Not to mention its borderline slander.

Went and picked up a XIII today; apparently they've fixed the coupon in the system, and even though I was buying a $4.99 game, the coupon went through just fine... took all of ten seconds for the cashier to scan the game, scan the coupon, and hand me my receipt (for 0.00 :D )....

KowHunta, call up the customer complaint hotline again and say "Do you want to speak with me, or my lawyer? " next time they get fiesty. Even though they reserver the right to refuse service to anyone, they must have a justifiable reason. They can't and should not refuse service to you because you are taking advantage of a deal THEY offered.

Since the BB coupon's been posted, I've used it nearly 10 times ( 3 different BB's ) , and never had a problem with the cashiers not taking it. They call me 'Big Spender'! Hahaha.

'Only problem i had was it not working on Virtua Fighter Evolution..since that's considered a 'clearance' game @ $9.99 ( Glendale, CA location ). The system wouldn't identify the discount when used on this particular game.

Phantom Brave is tempting @ $14.99 AC. 'Any good?

I'm no longer shopping at best buy, they refused to take the coupons (even a couple originals), and they refused to price match the 29.99 half life 2 collectors edition. I didn't have money at the time, because I was changing banks. The manager called me an idiot and said it had to be preowned, or the regular edition or both. Even after he called, nonetheless. Fuck him in the mouth, I'm calling the corporate complaint number until he's fired, been calling since the 17th. I was about to buy a PSP, and 2 ipods (1 regular for me, 1 mini for my gf). I let them know he's the reason they didn't make all that cash, and threw it in his face. I called him a pigfucker in front of half of his employees, along with other assorted language today, when he refused to price match again. Never again. Got the PSP at blockbuster, and the ipods I'm buying tomorrow from Super Target (if they have them). Fuck BB.

Which law school are you attending? I'm attending the school that Princeton Review says has the "Fourth most competitive student body in the country." So, I'm wondering how it would be a law suit in the making if Best Buy were to deny someone the use of the coupon. As a private entity, they would not be violating the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment nor the due process clause of the same. Remember, the 14th amendment only applies to STATE actors, not PRIVATE actors. The 5th amendment, which the 14th is modeled after, applies only to the Federal Government.

Congress could try to regulate Best Buy's policies and behavior with the commerce clause, as I'm sure Best Buy's activity constitutes "interstate commerce," but I'm not convinced that a PRIVATE entity denying someone the use of a coupon is violative of some fundamental right.

Justice Marshall, in Marbury v. Madison, said that "We are a nation of laws, not men." For every wrong, there is a right. So let me ask you, what is the "wrong" in this case?

If anyone's interested, I've cleaned up the scan a bit; removed the wrinkles and specks and whatnot. Also, this lossless-quality PNG file is less than half the filesize of the original JPEG file, for all you dialup people. :)

Here it is:
http://img148.echo.cx/img148/6662/scan00011krcleaned2yj.th.png (http://img148.echo.cx/my.php?image=scan00011krcleaned2yj.png)

And for the ultimate convienience, here is a ready-to-print sheet of 10 of these coupons:
http://img192.echo.cx/img192/1487/scan00011krcleanedsheet1jw.th.png (http://img192.echo.cx/my.php?image=scan00011krcleanedsheet1jw.png)

This sheet should be easily printable from Windows Picture Viewer, or most any other image app of your liking. You can then cut 'em out, and do what you please with them. I always have a couple on-hand, incase I spot something I really want. I'd suggest you keep a couple in your wallet, purse, or what-have-you.
That's $50 worth right there, so enjoy! :D And once again, thanks to the OP. :)

Since we are whippin them out and having a good ole fashion pissin' contest, I am an attorney. :booty: Everytime I hear someone say they are going to file a lawsuit against BB, GS, or whomever, I laugh. The reality is this......

They would squash all of you like a bug, and that is assuming you find a lawyer even willing to take the case. The statement above is a pretty good theoretical argument. Practically speaking, what incentive would I have as the attorney to work on this case for you? Damages are FAR too speculative for me to work on a contingent basis, especially against a multi-million dollar company, and I doubt you'd want to pay my hourly rate. This would drag out for YEARS, Best Buy has all the money in the world, and an army of lawyers to drag this out as long as they have to to bleed a person dry.

A $5 coupon will cost you $20000 in legal fees, but hey its the principle of the thing right?

If anyone's interested, I've cleaned up the scan a bit; removed the wrinkles and specks and whatnot. Looks real nice printed out on extra bright paper, with a laser printer at high DPI. :D
And also, this lossless-quality PNG file is less than half the filesize of the original JPEG file, for all you dialup people. :)

Here it is:

My printer printed out a full page coupon. Was the original coupon that big? I know someone mentioned it's size earlier in this thread, but I am not sifting through 16 pages to find that post again. Thanks for the help! :D

the coupons that ive printed out are almost a full page...maybe an inch margin on all sides, im not sure....but ive used 5 coupons so far, 2 on 1 visit & 3 on another....i was questioned the second time, only because a game was priced on the shelf as $19.99 and was scanning as $29.99...the cashier asked me where I found the coupons and I told them off of an email I was sent from them (i didn't know what to say)....then the manager said they were giving them out when the psp was released....they then took notice of the fine print that states only one per visit or whatever and the manager said that was why the game as ringing up wrong, which was bullshit...but they didn't care, they let me do it anyway

someone asked if anyone had any luck using them elsewhere. I actually was in circuit city the other day getting my southpark movie I forget to get with my team america (extra 5$ gets you the sp movie), and saw a copy of battlestar galactica for ps2 in the dump bin. (only other copy i ever saw was at ebx (where we sell used games as new....can I help you? so like the popcopy chappelle skit)
had them scan it was 15$...I told the girl to hold on for one sec, I had a coupon in the car. Came back, gave it to her, she hesitated a moment, talked to a mgr, said no its a copy, or a photocopy. I said well of course it is, its off their website, from an email I was sent from them (not sure what to say, always try to avoid using the word cheapass when talking to clerks), mgr said, hmmmm, okay, and allowed it. I honestly didnt expect it to fly, but hey, you dont know til you ask.
Very happy with this coupon, I keep 4 or 5 in my glove box at all times now.

A $5 coupon will cost you $20000 in legal fees, but hey its the principle of the thing right?
While I agree with Sallyballs that a lone plaintiff in a case over a $5 coupon is laughable, the truth is that this country allows for class action lawsuits, where representative plaintiffs can bring a suit on behalf of the class.

So, a few CAGers could file a false advertising claim or some other unfair or deceptive commerce claim against BB, for example. These suits often rack up hundreds of thousands in legal fees, however, if the class is large enough you could reap millions in damages. The often attracts the hundreds of law firms that specialize in class action suits.

The whole idea of a class action law suit was designed to address the issue of small damages to lots of people.

Finally, as a tip to Kidtrunks, if you want to graduate from your highly competitive law school, you might want to think of the big picture. While the Constitution is great, there are also state consumer laws to think of and federal trade laws to think of.

Big Picture 1 - The Constitution is not the only document that proscribes the laws which bind the states and federal governments. My original post clearly articulated that certain sections of the U.S. Constitution apply to either the federal government or the state governments but NOT private actors. From this, you should have been able to infer my understanding of other sources of law.

Big Picture 2 - The mere fact that I am in law school should serve as some indication that I am aware of alternative sources of law, such as common law, statutory law, etc. You might want to take a pot shot at me and suggest that "if you want to graduate," but the truth is, I'm ranked in the top 10% of my class. Your acusing me of missing the "big picture" is entirely unfounded.

Big Picture 3 - My post was a response. A response to a contention that there was a good legal claim for being denied the use of the coupon. My response was, what is the claim? I made it clear that neither the 14th nor the 5th amendment would provide a remedy. And I asked again, what would be the claim? Your response to my question was that there are other state laws that MAY provide a claim. Look, buddy, you answer a law school exam question like that you're going to get a 0. Want to know why? Because it isn't responsive.

Big Picture 4 - Is there a state law that would provide a remedy for those who have been denied the use of a $5 coupon? Unlikely, but if there is, I imagine that courts would treat such complaints in the same way they might treat a technical tort claim that has no real injury - nominal damages. So, as the above poster suggested, bringing such a suit would be absolutely futile. Thus, on the one hand the injury isn't worth litigating, and on the other hand, the injury isn't even provided an articulable remedy. In fact, calling it an "injury" is laughable.

So, krispx, what was the "big picture" again?

As an attorney as well, I'll have to put my two cents in. Can't help that.

Why do we always have to resort to legal action? Sometimes life is unfair and unjust. There are times in which we should stand up for principle and profit, but there are many other times you just have to say "f*** it", you know? Life is too short to squabble over $5. BB is a bitch tho.

Kidtrunks,

Allow me to begin by saying that I did not mean to take a pot shot at you. If you took it the wrong way, then I appologize.

Moving on to answering your concerns, I think that it was wrong for you to jump to the Constitution when the issue is clearly one about consumer protection. I refered to this in my original post when I mentioned deceptive trade practices. And from what I remember, the poster that you were responding too didn't even mention the constitution. You start talking about the wrong issues in your exam and you'll get a 0. You know why? Because it is not responsive.

In my post, I wasn't trying to answer a law school exam but I was trying to help CAGers by pointing to possible causes of action. However, if you want a statute, try NY General Business Law sections 349 and 396. The law clearly prohibits false advertising and baiting and switching. If you are from another state you might try looking at your own state's consumer protection laws.

Based on such statutes, consumers may band together and bring class action suits and seek not only compensatory but punitive damages. While the compensation will be small for each plaintiff, the damage was small, so that is to be expected. But the important part is that the consumer has it within his power to hold large corporations accountable.

In conclusion, the big picture is this: Theorizing about the application of the Constitution and dismissing its application to private action may be the in thing to do in law school, but when you go out real practice, your client will want real and practical answers, not ivory tower mishmash.

Take care and good luck.

PS. Here's another tip for law school. Your reader should not be forced to infer anything from your answer. You should have everything clearly and concisely written out.

Is this $5 off coupon only in certain stores? I searched around my Best Buy and couldn't find it. Just as well, I don't think I have the guts to go for a free game; I can barely get the nerve to get penny guides.

You sir, may be on the wrong website then.

I think I managed to get the last copy of March Madness 2005 in my store, using the $5 off PS2 game. I way I did this without feeling guilty was to just buy a soda or candy, so the cashier feels that their store is still getting some profit. I was hoping to pick up some newly listed guides and trade them, but they were gone.. no problem though. The Astro Boy copies were the ones that I wanted, but was sold out like I thought it would. I am I am pretty luck though, to be able to get a game for "free" in a pretty populated urban city.

You sir are a far better cheapass than I.

I guess I'll give it a shot tomorrow on the way home for work, though I will have frequented their store for the third consecutive day and spent in total only $5 + change (bought a $4.99 Psi-Ops today before I knew that I could print out the coupon in addition to a bunch of penny guides).

I got Driver 3 today. Now here's the funny part. Without even thinking about it I grabbed the Xbox version. I'm completely oblivious to this and so, apparently, is the girl at the register since she uses the coupon towards it. It didn't even register w/me until I got it out of the bag just a few minutes ago. I hope I didn't get you in trouble, BB checkout girl.

Luck of the draw, I'm afraid. They'll sometimes claim that the really cheap games are "clearance," which the coupon can't be used on.

I've managed to use it on $5 games...I got XIII, by itself, for free, no problems and no questions asked.

I've used 5 coupons on the same transaction at the West Hollywood, CA BB. The cashiers kinda know me though... so they may have been doing me a favor. 'Just letting you know, though, it *IS* possible to put through without overriding the system:

All 5 games were scanned, then 5 coupons were scanned after ( they need to keep each scanned coupon on file ).

I'd imagine most BB employees would be a little reluctant to do this, though.... especially when you're getting 5 games for free!

This is true... sometimes Best Buy employees will pull stuff straight out of their ass in order to stop you from getting a good deal.

No, I don't think that'll work. You might be able to do what vgamergirl describes above, but that requires some luck. I wouldn't count on that happening too often. At any rate, the coupon only takes $5 off of one item, and that's it.

I just realized this, but I used the coupon yesterday for Timesplitters 2(GC). It didn't ring up and she said it was because it was on sale or clearance. Best thing for getting free games 5$ - 5$ cpn........is get something else with it, it mentally isnt as noticeable to the cashier, and therefore less chance of getting a manager involved, cause once that happens, as stated before, they tend to pull just about any rule out of their butt, and make up something about this or that, to stonewall the issue. I got both tomb raider and astroboy free yesterday, two coupons presented both went through, and cashier didnt really bat an eye, and I also bought about 50$ in anime titles I was looking for. However, if you arent looking to buy something else to keep, just buy a new release and then return it later. It really improves the smoothness factor. I am hoping they dont pull the plug on these coupons, cause I printed out a bunch and hope to use them for the rest of the year to get a cheap game or two as they drop in price.

Just took advantage of this for the first time (got a free Psi-Ops and a free Astroboy in separate transactions). I agree with the above poster, probably most likely to work if you buy other stuff (I got a few penny guides in both transactions so psychologically, it didn't strike the cashier as giving me the game for free). One of the cashiers even joked that I was the "sale of the day".

in actuallity, you can fight this. A girl at one of my best buys said the same thing, but I stated that on the coupon it does not say that enywhere where it has to be at least $5. As long as you fight it enough, you will get what you are supposed to... in other words: a free game.

Also, if anyone is in need of march madness, my BB has about 10-15 of them that no one is picking up. Also, they have a ton of .01 game guides.

One thing that helps is that my good friend and his brother both work at BB and I always buy when they are on the cash register. I they didn't even know about the deal, so I gave them some coupons and some of the games and they smiled... maybe if a BB employee dosn't want to sell you something, just give him one of the free games... that might make them happy.

Which size coupon (small or large) are you CAGs printing out?

Also: Laser or Inkjet?

I was about to use the small coupon today but right before I headed to the register, I noticed the fine print was unreadable... I had cropped that sheet of coupons in my image editor (to print only 3) and then set the quality to "draft."

Now I have to make a special trip back to BB.

Hello! I just got back from using four of the smaller sized coupons at two different BB's. At each I picked up one free game and one 5.47 game. The cashiers didn't even acknowledge me, so I would say that the coupons worked like a charm. The free games were Psi-Ops and Tomb Raider: AOD, and the 5.47 games were Max Payne 2 and Metal Arms. You can buy as many games as you want, but one coupon only takes $5 off on one game, that's it. People have, on occasion, used multiple coupons in one visit, but this is quite rare; 99% of the time, you can only use one per visit.

BarCodes are very finicky, they have to be as certain proportion, I noticed when I printed the smaller format, the lines sometimes blended together, which would force them to type in the number instead. I would say stick with the large format.

Hmm...OK, it sounds like several people have had trouble with the coupon from the 10x sheet, due to the barcode being distorted. As a solution, I have made a new sheet, with 6 coupons, each about 30% bigger than those on the 10x sheet. This extra size, definition, and higher detail should hopefully fix the problems that have been reported.

Here it is:

In terms of having BB scan these, have people had more success using the Medium size coupon that was just posted yesterday (the 6-sheet one, not the 1-sheet or 9-sheet)?

I used the small ones but they wouldn't scan. The clerk had to manually do something in order for me to get the discount... I figure, the lesser the hassle, the more likely I can get in and out of BB without drawing any attention upon myself.

To avoid any possible complications, I'd reccomend the 6-sheet. That should definitely print well enough to work every time. I'd like to think of it as being probably the best standard. If a coupon cut from that sheet ever doesn't work, I'd be real suprised...you'd have to have a really crappy printer. ;)

When I did the 10-sheet, I was used to printing things with a high-quality laser printer, but I realized that a lot bubble jets and other types of printers might not be able to print the finer bars without them blurring a bit, when they're that small. The fine print is also kind of hard to see. The 6-sheet, however, should work well with pretty much any printer, so it's my current reccomendation for most people.

So far astroboy's, ncaa footballs, and tomb raiders have gotten me Neo contra($15 used, but not really used as factory seal never opened), Tales of Symphonia(20$), Xenosaga(again $15 'used', never opened), and Burnout 3(20$).

As long as you dont buy overpriced stuff at FYE, you get a kickass deal

So far I've got 2 Astro Boys and 1 Tomb Raider: AOD. I called the nearest FYE and they said they give $18 for Astro Boy, it took her like 5 minutes like five minutes to find that out so I didn bother asking what I could get for Tomb Raider.

Well I went to BB and found a bunch of games. None for free but the $4.99 ones.
I was wondering, can anyone help out this newbie and inform me maybe how much these games go for (particulalry at GAMERUSH):

TimeSplitters 2
Beyond Good & Evil
Conflict: Desert Storm Greatest Hits
Corvette
Defender
Fisherman's Bass Club
Ford Racing 2
Metal Arms: Glitch in the System
MTV's Celebrity Deathmatch
Smuggler's Run Greatest Hits
Starsky & Hutch
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines
Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution Greatest Hits

Probably less than $4.99... those deals are worth it though if you using the trade 3 get a used game for $5, since you'll get semi recent games for $15.

I wouldn't depend on FYE though... I ran into a huge problem here today, where the employee wouldn't take the game since "their must be a major pricing problem, since we give $18 and it sells for $20".

She wouldn't even give me a printed price quote on it, and said she had to call her DM.

Saw this thread today at work and was so excited to get a free game on the way home. I printed out the 6 coupon version and it worked like a charm.

I went to one bestbuy in a yuppy neighborhood in chicago and bought XIII and Beyond good and evil. Both for 4.99 plus tax, XIII was free and 4.99 for Beyond Good and Evil. Couldn't find Astro Boy, will go to check out at other stores.

At the cashier, I just told them I had a coupon handed in and it got scanned no problemo, then I asked can I use the same coupon on the other game. She said no coz it's been scanned already. I asked what if I have another one, she said sure. I handed it and woohoo!

I went to my final Best Buy in the DC area today on a quest for penny guides and cheap games. I never did find the Jak III or KOTOR II guides. And I also didn't find March Madness 2005 or Astro Boy. However, I got most of the other games. I even managed to get a second Tomb Raider for free today. After getting shot down on the 1 game + coupon a few days ago, I decided to try it again today at a different store along with a penny guide (pushing my luck). Total cost, $0.01. Awesome...

I found a new $5 game that I haven't seen mentioned on CAG yet (not saying it hasn't been, I just didn't see it). At the Potomoc Mills Best Buy they had GBA Disney Skate Adventure for $5. I had bought THUG for $5 a few days ago but I'm going to return that. My kids have a lot more fun with the Disney Skate game than the Tony Hawk's. So I'll give my son the GBA version as a "sorry Daddy has been away so long" gift when I get home Thursday (got my daughter some Target build-a-bear clothes that were on clearance for $1.50 - I'm not just a cheap-ass about games, you know!).

Well, I picked up Astro Boy for free today and immediately traded it to my local Gamestop for 5 bucks in credit. Too bad I didn't know Wherehouse and other places were giving 18 for it.

Anyone been getting hassled at Game Crazy using a pricematch from Wherehouse.com? I got two copies of Astro Boy & 1 Tomb Raider: AOD, and I could get $43.50 if they'll honor the pricematch.

Tried this for the first time yesterday, abd I got Psi-Ops for PS2 for free! (Actually I went with my wife and she checked out for me - figured she'd have better luck than I would). That was the only free game I saw. I passed on all the $9.99 games ($4.99 AC) - I'm so spoiled by free games now, and I have a huge backlog anyway.

There are about 10 copies of Madden 2004 at the BB at Paramus Park (North NJ), but nothing else of note.

Just wanted to drop in and thank the CAGs that I ran into at the Natick BB. Initially they were protective of their two copies of Astro Boy, but once I had disclosed that I too was a CAG they gladly handed over one of their copies.

CAG can now add "serendipitous" to its bank of words that describe it.

I think I was one of those CAG's. No prob, glad to hook you up.

lol naw I try never to hoard. I only ended up with one March Madness 2005, Psi-Ops, NCAA Footbal 2005, Crash and Burn, and XIII. They were scattered all over different best buys so it was alot of running around.

I used the coupon at the Middletown, NY BB today and walked out with Astroboy and NCAA Football 2005 for $5.40 Total. I then went across the street to FYE and got $27.84 in credit, which I used to buy mint and complete used copies of Need for Speed Underground and ESPN Baseball 2k5. I had to throw in a couple of extra bucks and those two games won't get much in trade later on, but for an $8 total investment I got two games I've been wanting to play. Gotta Love FYE!

Woot! First time I did this deal and it went off without a hitch. Went to a BB that I don't normally frequent, which is also quite a bit further away, with my friend and found a couple of THPS4 GH and got them for $5 a piece (used to own this but I traded it in a while back). The cashier had some difficulty ringing us up, since the coupon would scan but wouldn't come up in their system so she had to do a manual override. I think I'll be coming back in the next few weeks to pick up a bunch of the games they have for $5 that I traded in the past. Games like VF4: Evo, Spyhunter, and the first Conflict game. Great coupon and thanks for posting it OP and others that helped with it.

This thread needs to have people start giving it Five Cheapies instead of Four--what more do you people want than ~free~ games?? ;)

Vanity issues :P

Picked up a free Astro Boy the other day, nothing else really to report... they know the coupon so well at my Best Buy that it always goes off without a hitch these days.

Yeah, thanks OP for posting the 6-sheet version. I had problems with BB scanning the 9-sheet (needed manual override) but the 6-sheet version scans beautifully. I picked up March Madness and Psi-Ops... threw in a Breakdown ($4.99) to reduce any possibility of a manager getting involved.

This coupon is great because there's no $19.99 restriction like the GGC.

Totally scored with this deal today. I got Game Crazy to pricematch Astro Boy and Tomb Raider: AOD by having them call a local FYE. With my additional 10% from having the MVP card I made $47. Picked up a non platinum hits version of Burnout 3 for $20 and picked up Katamari Damacy for $20 as well, then put $5 down on a preorder of Arterlier Iris. After that I still have $2.87 in store credit. It pays to be a CAG!

I was able to get Psi Ops at another store without a hitch. Then I went with a friend another day to a couple of Best Buys and ran into some serious attitude problems. We took a copy of NCAA March Madness which was marked 29.99 to confirm that it 4.99 at the service desk. It rang up as 4.99 and my friend wanted to know if he should go into checkout line to buy it or if he could buy it there. The customer service lady said that he could buy it there, and he showed her the coupon he had printed off from CAG. She looked at the coupon and wanted to check with someone higher up at the customer service. The higherup came over and said she couldn't accept the coupon because it had no back. I was thinking about telling her that the original Best Buy coupons had no backs, but didn't because I didn't see the relevance of the coupon having a back. My friend said that people all over the country were using the coupon and that he had used it before. The manager turned into a bitch and said she couldn't put it through since he had used it before (A valid point) and soon after she was done ranting just left. We both couldn't believe what a colossal bitch-cock she had become.

We went to a second Best Buy, and ran into troubles there too. We had found two copies of Astro Boy and decided to get them. We were in seperate lines-- my transaction went through fine while my friend ran into problems with the cashier. She was saying that since Astro Boy was 4.99, the coupon wouldn't work. Which, of course, was bullshit. My friend continues to contest this and she brings a supervisor. She kicks it into bitch mode and starts to make up rules for the coupon-- the game needs to be 19.99 or up and stuff like that. My friend tells her that no where on the coupon is there a minimum and I tell her that the transaction works fine for me (and if they didn't want 4.99 games to go through, why didn't they put it in the system? Like how it used to need a manual overide...?) She didn't even end up giving my friend back his coupon, and she told the cashier which helped me "I'll talk to you later." So, that game probably got in trouble by... doing his job. Ridiculous.

Don't get me wrong. We're cheating Bestbuy, for sure, by using copies and using them multiple times. But I just don't give a shit. They're one of the worse retail corporations ever.

Can someone verify what version of NCAA games are 4.99? The original post says that the NCAA Football 2004 is 4.99, and someone else mentions picking it up the 2005 version for 4.99? Which is it? And then I take it the 2005 March Madness is marked 4.99 while the football one(s) are not?

We had NCAA Football pricechecked. It's 29.99. I don't know about the 2004 version first hand, but I imagine it must be the one for 4.99.
