Anyone else having problems with the coupon? I tried one picking up virtual fighter evo and it scanned in but now needs manager override.

It won't work on this because all of the Greatest Hits games are considered sale or clearance items and the system knows that the coupon isn't supposed to work on these games. Obviously a manager can override, but otherwise, it will not work.

Yeah, I could not use the $5 coupon when PSP games were $10 off with RZ card in the past

This coupon works on some sale priced games. I picked up Resident Evil Outbreak File #2 for $14.99 using this coupon when it was on sale last week. The system automatically applied the coupon - no cashier override needed. I don't think it will work on the 2 for $22 deal though.

Same here... I used the $5 coupon and $5 RZ certificate for $9.99 RE:Outbreak 2. No prob. I think the computer prompts a pop-up on the screen before the transaction goes through for the $5 coupon. The clerk just presses enter and it goes through.

BUT I remember I picked up Champions of Norrath a few weeks back ($14.99) and the manager had to override it with a password to to knock the game down to $9.99... I guess it depends on what game???

Specific to your question, it works in Orlando, FL. I've successfully used it in four different Orlando area Best Buys (Florida Mall, West Oaks Mall, Waterford Lakes, and East 50) and one in Lakeland.

The hell...today I went there to get V4: Evo and trhey wouldn't accept it, they said no copies and crap etc. etc. I told them the original copy was a printer copy but...$$$s...yeah.

It probably would of worked too but since my printer was out of ink, I think the barcode was messed up so he had to punch it in then he said "This looked printed", in my head, I was like...wow...what a moron...

So yeah, anyone want to get my a copy for like $7 shipped? (send me some extra coupons too XD)

Not to be rude, but $7 is probably going to be less than cost when factoring in tax and shipping, and that is assuming the person would have been going to BB and the post office anyway (i.e. ignoring travel expenses). Of course, tax varies by location, so you might get a bite from a CAG who has a low tax rate and is willing to lose the few cents difference to help out another CAG, but you might want to offer a little more.

What I would really recommend, though, is getting more printer ink.

Gigamaster89

Heh, I was going by my rate here, sorry. Anyway, yeah, I'm not sure if its the ink or the printer, I refilled it yesterday and the whole thing came out well EXCEPT for the barcode and the fine print...the $5 OFF ANY PS2 OR PSP game game out nicely.

This topic is in serious need of a bump.

Why?

I just pricematched Star Ocean for $14.99 then I had them take off another $5.

Yep, Star Ocean (Greatest Hits) for $10.59 after taxes.

If Circuit City was in town, I'd do the same thing to them.

My only regret is Sears in town doesn't have the game in stock. They probably have it still marked for $49.99. Imagine the pricematch plus. Star Ocean would be $6.35 after taxes.

EB has more deals then Gamerush does, and it still dosen't see it's own thread (besides the morning update one). I know I made the new GR thread, but I don't really see the point to it anymore, since GR only has the one deal which could just use it's own unstickied thread.

This coupon is like a golden ticket for ps2 / psp games for the rest of the year, I'm sick of digging it up on page 3 or 4 every time I have to make copies.

I've been folowing this thread for a while, and I don't recall if this was mentioned, but I saw Lara Croft: Angel of Darkness stickered at $19.99, but the slot said $14.99, so I had an employee price check it: it came up as $4.99! Beyond Good and Evil can wait until tomorrow - you know how hard it is to pass up a free game. ;)

I have read about the problems people have had, especially using a $5 coupon for a $4.99 game, but I had NO problems, and the cashier even congratulated me on the deal. No hassles or sales tax paid, so my toal was $1.25 for my soft drink.

This was the Southfield, MI Best Buy, as always YMMV.

Psy-Ops will give you the bonus (non-POX) credit at EBGames.
They thought it was weird that I was buying and trading in 5 of the same games, but fuck it, I'm getting Zelda for free =) Fortunately this cute girl was working the register that I'd seen downtown before, I worked my magic and she rang each one up as a separate sale for me. I've never been able to use more than one coupon in a transaction (they usually get an error and look closely to see the 'one per' clause), so I have no experience on a multicoupon situation. Heck, today they had trouble ringing up the PS2 coupon for a PS2 game and the $5 GCC for an Xbox game on one transaction, and split it.

The computer definitely lets them. I had trouble with it early on, but in my last few trips there has been no problem. They can scan the games (and anything else you have), then scan the coupons one after the other (they will want one for each game). Then they get a screen that says something like "Apply package" - they hit "Yes" and it works. Any employee that tells you the computer won't let them is either making it up or reacting strangely to that screen popping up - all they have to do is hit "OK" or "Yes", or possibly even hit the return key, and it will work.

Got back a little while ago from Best Buy in good old Tallahassee Florida (whoohoo) - didn't find any $4.99 games or 1cent guides, but picked up both VF4:Evolution and Hunter the Reckoning: Wayward for $5 each, to trade into EB. Actually, I'll probably keep VF4, since it's totally worth $5 :D.

Anyways, I was helped by a guy at Best Buy, who immediately recognized that I was asking about deals from Cheap Ass Gamer...apperently he comes here too, and if you read it, thanks for the help! Apperently they'd done some Price Updates or whatnot the day before, so they'd removed all the trash content that I was basically looking for (damn it!). So if he IS reading this right now, I'd like to ask him to PM me so I could know exactly when are the best times to take advantage of free games/1 cent guides (ballpark time period :) ).

Anyways, at the register, the chick cashier said it was limit one per household, so the computer wouldn't let her do it. After suggesting she just ring the two games up seperately, she didn't mind, and I got $5 each game, paid in cash, and got the hell out of there. Kickass, really :)

(WOOT! VF4:E FOR $5!)

Still going strong... picked up Midway Arcade Treasures for GR trade-in... cashiers continue to be unable to scan my print-outs (I think cause my "color" printer uses pink for everything, screws up the barcode), but they or managers never have any issue.

And FYI, it appears that the cashiers don't need any override to do coupons under $10. Or least the manager she called over said something like that.

Don't know if this has been posted already in this thread (haven't been following it or even CAG for some time now), but I was just over at my BB and they haven't changed the prices yet for the new GH titles, but they say that if you come in with a print out that they will be more (at least the one and the manager I talked to) than happy to price adjust it and let you use a coupon.

Also, I don't know if this has been post either, but I think this is major news and definitely greatly affects this thread and BB as when I was there I noticed that they had raised prices on most of the games taht are $9.99 like Bad Boys, VF4: Evo, etc (Can't think of the rest off of the top of my memory at the moment, but as soon as I can I will). This might be in direct relation to our use of this coupon. Note that though I saw new stickers for VF4: Evo, but there was still a couple places that said it was $9.99 so I think I'm going to go back tomorrow with my GH print out and catch them on that.

I know that Cabella's Deer Hunting or something like that (the one in GH skin) is still $9.99.

Edit: Forgot to say that people if you still want to get these games for $5, you may want to jump on it either today (if you can still make it) or tomorrow is what my recommendation is.

I can only hope that this isn't nationwide. I just recently picked up VF4: Evo and Tony Hawk 4 and was really hoping to go back soon to pick up some more. Whenver I do, I'll post here and let everyone know what my Best Buy has done.

At this moment, I am going to further report that the deal with some of the $9.99 games being upped to $14.99 is YMMV (no clue how big of a YMMV it is). I went to another BB and they still had the games priced at $9.99. Strange. Then again, the first BB I went to is the worst in town so it doesn't really surprise me anymore.

I don't think there are any 2.99 PS2 games...

Last year they had $0.99 copies of Minority Report and Blowout. I'm hoping we see more titles later this year. Coupon still saves you a buck, which is a dollar extra for my wallet.

I'm too much of a stickler for rules to do that anyhow. I would expect a company to ALWAYS honor my valid coupons (glares at Best Buy), and on the flipside, I wouldn't want them to accept an expired one.

I love loopholes, but blatant disregard of an offer's terms? well...that would explains why they both went out of business here. First Osco closed, then Albertsons. (we even had some Albertsons with Osco inside of them)

It's all YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary) depending on which Best Buy you're looking in.

I still find a few Tomb Raider: AoD every once in a while. They're in a $14.99 game display sometimes. The best printout one to use is the newer color coupon in a different thread.

Unofrunately not. When the cashier rings up the games, they'll come out to $25. If she scans a coupon, the prices of the games will revert to their normal prices and then the coupon will come off of one of those. Hence, you'll end up paying more if you try and use a coupon.

Is the McDonalds coupon still working for you guys? I tried it in Manhattan today, and the ing fat bitch manager came over and screamed "NO!" when the cashier tried to use it. I told the manager to scan it to see if it was in the system. She did, and nothing happened, but I suspect she had her finger over the sensor (or something) to keep it from registering.

Time to find a new Best Buy to bring those to. I had the same problem at one particular BB in my area. It's a store-specific ban, if they choose to "not participate" in that coupon.

You MIGHT be able to use it at that store if you know exactly when that manager isn't working, but from my personal experience once a store bans the coupon, they enforce it strongly with every clerk.

Which store in Manhattan did you go to?

The last time I went I had the coupon work at the 86th store and that was on the 21st.

Did anything show up on the register when she scanned it? Usually when its scanned it will show up on the screen as "coupon" or something but nothing will be taken off. The cashier then has to press some buttons and the register will ask if they should "apply package", and once they press yes, you get your $5 off.

It was on Broadway, um, between Bleeker and Houston, IICR. Yeah, when the manager (pretended) to scan it, absolutely nothing came up on the screen, not even an error message. Have you (or has anyone else?) contacted corporate to complain? To me that is false advertsiing, and I'd consider contacting the BBB about it... I got plenty of large fries at McD's when they were doing this thing... it may say in tiny print on the coupon about participating locations, but they sure didn't make a big deal out of it during the promotion... and it's supposed to be good until 12/15 - so that is some SERIOUS bad business on the part of BB, IMO...

I honestly dunno why I go there... I don't know that putting up with their shady crap and shitty service is worth the money I save... *sigh* It's not every store or employee, of course... but over all, my experiences there suck pretty hard...

"This coupon is redeemable only at any participating Best Buy store locations..."

First line of the legal disclosure fine print on the coupon. What's to complain about?

If you get denied and it's your ONLY Best Buy in your area, then you might want to file a complaint. I've got 3 Best Buys to choose from, and I've already used the coupon at the "non-participating" one at least 11 times already (10 of which were free after coupon).

I thought it was ironic that the first time they denied me the coupon was when I wanted to buy Taiko for $15. Not only was I actually willing to spend a decent amount of $ there, but I was also buying a few GGC's at the same time, so I told them to use one of those if they won't honor my McD. What did they think? That I would actually roll over and play Angel Customer for them all of sudden??

It was a special kind of printout coupon from the McDonalds.com website. I can't remember the exact details anymore but you played some silly game, and your "prize" was the coupon to print out for Best Buy. It's about as official as it can get as far as online/printout coupons go.

BTW, if you cut the coupons out right past the dotted lines and fold it nicely, it doesn't even look/feel like a printout coupon anymore.

Just wanted to bump this up so people are aware there are some deals to be had still.

I scored my first ever completely free game at Best Buy. Sure, I've gotten a few PS2 games free with the coupon but I've always bought other stuff along with them. Today I decided to be bold and go for the absolute freebie. They had a couple copies of Pinball Hall Of Fame at the Rockville, MD Best Buy. I hadn't seen this game at Best Buy since WAY before it went to $5. I never even saw it when it first dropped to $10. Anyway, where these came from who knows. I didn't even have the "clearance" list with me, I just remembered that one in particular - so who knows what else might be found there. They seemed to be overstuffed with PS2 games compared to most Best Buys. But I'm travelling and didn't want to get anything else or bother with buying and then returning another item.

So I bring it up to the register, verify that it is indeed $4.99, and then ask if I can use the coupon (McDonalds one). The guy says it won't work (the old computer won't let him excuse) unless the total is more than $5, so I'd have to buy some candy or something. I was about to humor him when he then realized the *game* itself would have to be $5 or more for it to work. Then I just asked him if he could just try scanning the coupon, since his basis for not doing it was not that he wasn't allowed but that the computer wouldn't do it. Sure enough, worked out great and I walked out with a receipt showing a total of $0.00.

As he was oohing and ahhing over the great deal a manager slid by, but fortunately either didn't realize exactly what the fuss was about or didn't care :D.

This coupon is not necessarily dead. BBs have been taking these copies for months, ignoring the fine print that copies are not acceptable. Unless the computer system specifically denies the discount, the only thing to stop one from using the coupon is the cashier reading the expiration date from the fine print. Just food for thought.

This coupon is not necessarily dead. BBs have been taking these copies for months, ignoring the fine print that copies are not acceptable. Unless the computer system specifically denies the discount, the only thing to stop one from using the coupon is the cashier reading the expiration date from the fine print. Just food for thought.

I hope you are right.

Otherwise, R.I.P.

I picked up Duel Masters for free a couple nights ago. Here's to hoping BB releases a similar coupon this year!

Dammit, how did I miss this thread? I could have been stocking up on $5 or free games. :(

Their computers do deny coupons.
