View Full Version : Is there any chance of going back to the old style of quoting?

Before the switch to VBulletin, clicking "Quote" would include ALL of the quotes in a chain, not just the text from the post that you were quoting.
It was a lot easier to follow conversations when the quotes worked like that. Digging back through the thread to see what was quoted and from where is doable, but also annoying.
Please? :D

I dunno, the current style of quoting nullifies the mile-long hourglass style quote. I'd rather have this than that.

Yes we definitely need nested quoting.

I like the nested quoting too... it really does allow for better conversation flow.

While I prefer the old "Whomever wrote" to the new "Originally posted by Whomever", I am immeasurably greatful to see the end of page-long hourglass quoting.
To those of you who say it makes it easier to follow the entire convo, bullshit. The entire convo is still there in the thread, read it if it's that important to you. The amount of scrolling or clicking needed to read the other parts of the thread is measly compared to the amount of scrolling necessary to navigate 20 posts that each reiterate the shit that's already been said.

I'd assume so.
Time to start adjusting to the new style, then...

I don't know if this software can do it, but I've seen it where the nested quote is hidden and if you want to see the whole thing you just click a button under it. Like that only the people who want to see the whole thing can see it and everyone will be happy.

I think if the "limit" for the nested quoting was 5, meaning that last 5 posts, everybody would be happy. You'd still understand the conversation, and Led wouldn't get pissed over the hourglass quotes.
(If possible)

I like this idea, if it's even possible.
