Hmm, it appears that they have just raised to prices on items to compensate. I am very disappointed in newegg. I didn't take them as that type of company.
I had been looking at this item here and was excited about the shipping going from $5 to 99 cents, but now its just the same price with the increase. As you can see they raised it by $4.

Thanks for the post, Ace.

I've been looking to grab a new computer case, and the only thing holding me back from every company was the shipping charge. Unfortunately, it does appear that they have raised prices to compensate for the cheap shipping, but for computer cases, it's still a good $5-10 discount.

Newegg plays the trick all the time, but since the prices are fairly cheap to begin with I pretty much ignore it personally. Ironically though they didn't raise the price of the monitor I bought two weeks ago, could have saved 10 bucks in shipping, nuts.

I may pick up some blank printable DVD's. Anyone use OPTODISC? I know it's generic, but they are $7.50 for 25 PRINNTABLE discs

*Edit

Nevermind...they raised the price to $10 now....just one day later.

Oh well...no big deal, I like HUB printable DVD's anyways, these did not say if they were or not.

I bought my X20 Halo headset from them yesterday and it was the same price as a couple weeks ago, $19.99.

The $0.99 shipping just saved me a couple of bucks. :D

Its pretty low of Negegg to lower all shipping to $.99 and then raise the prices on a lot of their products to make up for it.

That's actually a common tactic of companies to do.

Another is to say 80% off when infact it's around the average price of other items. Such as a monitor, lets say they say it's 80% off, but the price is around the average price of monitor of that size and make. What they did is earlier in the year, they raised it by 80% in price for an hour or a day or so. Therefore it truely is 80% off of that price, and they legally can say 80% off.

Really jacked up I know.
