Someone that would pay $600 for a pokemon card has serious issues.

point taken. let me rephrase my earlier, they are paying 800+ for a piece of paper that holds no value to the us government. you cant use that card to buy a tv.

while it may not be widley accepted, that card is totally a form of currency. you just have to find the right person for it, i sure as hell could buy a tv if i sold that card for 800$...and being a cheap ass id have 700$ left  its all about what u value

A long time ago, my cousin got his hands on a Vileplume (I forget if it was holographic or not) that didn't have the "Jungle" set icon.

http://www.ulrichandhelvas.com/ebay/vileplume_x4.jpg
If you look closely, all of these have the "leaf" icon on the right.

Misprint? Worth anything?

www.fakecard.com might be able to tell you the value. There are in fact alot of Jungle cards that have that misprint, but i dont think it's worth very much, not like the shadowless Base first edition Charizard that everyone drools over.

I know I'm going to be an ass for no good reason, but there aren't any $1000 bills in circulation anymore. The largest denomination is $100.

actually I think that a 1,000$ bill is worth quite a bit more because they are such a rarity...So its not worth 1,000 just like the card isnt

Just to let you guys all know, the federal reserve did print high end notes for people to use. Notes in denominations of 500, 1000, 5000, and 10000 dollars were all produced. After WWII, the technology was in place for banks to transfer money without needing these notes. Also, very few people had the need for, or wanted, to carry this much cash around. The notes are still legal tender today, although the Fed removes them if found and shreds them into those little bags of shredded money that you see everywhere. Almost all of these bills can be found in coin shops today for well more than their face value, i.e. $1000 bill for $1575. I believe that there was also a very limited run of $100,000 bills.

I should print out a 100,000 bill on my cheap printer :P

Had anyone considered that whoever is buying these cards is more than likely a grown adult? I can understand kids being obsessed, but just picture it: "Sorry little Johnny, we can't eat for a week, daddy got Mewtew."

Oh wait, theres not chance in hell this guy is married or has had sex.

In the words of Lloyd, "You are one pathetic loser."

Ah, the memories...

I was poor back when the cards were popular (still am...but I digress). Most of the cards I got were freebies from my friends who collected them. I've still got all of those cards somewhere...

I remember being thrilled the day I walked into an FYE and saw that they were clearing out some of the older theme decks. I got three full decks for, IIRC, $1.25 each. Those cards made me so happy... :D

Okay. I'm done with the boring personal stories. :)

In this picture, there is a sort of shadow on the right side of th box (near his wing).

Is that what you are referring to? If so, my cousin has one (holofoil) without the shadow. How much are they worth?

The real question is...

What sort of attacks does this $800 card have?

it attacks your wallet, and secretly destroys any dignity that you have among normal people. However it makes you the super blockbuster pokemon gym leader master of all time.

I don't know... you could probably get close to that much for an alpha black lotus, and probably a good 200-300 for each of the Alpha Moxen.
